Basics of Combat

I think I've got this right...

I'll update it a little later with the adjusted modifiers...

ATTACKS & DEFENSES
A natural 1 on attack automatically misses; A natural 20 on attack automatically hits.
Blue Text in this post represent active rolls, involving Dice.  Purple text represents static values.

Close-combat (punch, kick, etc):
Attacker rolls (1d20 + FIGHTING) vs DC (10 + Target's PARRY)

Without modifiers this means:
Sandra/TN DC19, Adrianna DC11, Alexey DC17, Cythi DC14, Janava DC16, Virginia DC19


Ranged Combat (throw, etc.):
Attacker rolls (1d20 + DEXTERITY) vs DC (10 + Target's DODGE)

Without modifiers this means:
Sandra/TN DC19, Adrianna DC19, Alexey DC17, Cythi DC14, Janava DC18, Virginia DC19


Non-Toughness Attacks:
Attacker rolls (1d20 + POWER-RANK) vs DC (1d20 + Target's FORT or WILL), rolling equal to or better than the attack succeeds at defending

Without modifiers this means, for FORTITUDE:
Sandra/TN DC17, Adrianna DC19, Alexey DC20, Cythi DC16, Janava DC19, Virginia DC19

Without modifiers this means, for WILL:
Sandra/TN DC17, Adrianna DC17, Alexey DC18, Cythi DC10, Janava DC16, Virginia DC14

Area-Attacks
  • Attacker does not need to roll.
  • Targets roll (1d20 + DODGE) vs DC (10 + Attacker's POWER-RANK) to avoid the attack
  • If successful, the attack’s rank or bonus is halved (rounded down) before applying it to the target
  • Target rolls to resist the effects of the attack by rolling (1d20 + one of FORTITUDE, TOUGHNESS, or WILL) vs DC (10 + POWER-RANK)   (or DC (10 + (Power-RANK/2) if they succeeded in the previous roll)



TAKING THE HIT
If you're hit by the attack, you roll (1d20 + Your TOUGHNESS) vs DC (15 + DAMAGE-RANK), where DAMAGE-RANK is defined by the power-rating or strength of the blow



GRABBING & BREAKING A GRAB
If it's a physical grab, a grapple:
  • To Grab: roll (1d20 + FIGHTING) vs DC (10 + Target's PARRY)
  • If successful, the Target gets to roll either (1d20 + STRENGTH) or (1d20 + DODGE) vs (10 + Attacker's STRENGTH)


If it's a power-grab, like via Move-Object:
  • To Grab: roll (1d20 + POWER-EFFECT RANK) vs DC (10 + Target's PARRY)
  • If successful, the Target gets to roll either (1d20 + STRENGTH) or (1d20 + DODGE) vs (10 + POWER-EFFECT RANK)
