Stardate 2378.26

Stationed out of Narendra Starbase in the Beta Quadrant, the USS Mongoose was assigned the mission of exploring the Shackleton Expanse.

The USS Catspaw was attacked by a Klingon ship that was escorting it to Starbase Narendra just before the Mongoose was scheduled to depart, so investigating that became the first leg of the mission. While heading to the location of the incident, the ship's new sensor pod was to be tested along the way to investigate reports of ghost images appearing on ship's sensors when it neared the Expanse.

A distress signal was picked up, coming from a ship that disappeared 7 years earlier. Investigating it led to the discovery of a secret cloaked Klingon research facility.

Investigating it, the Away Team discovered that the Klingons had been trying to develop a forced singularity power plant like the Romulans had. Something went wrong, and some scientists and equipment had been shifted into subspace. After rescuing the Klingons, the Mongoose continued on its mission.

They next encountered what appear to be a Viking longship flying through space. It was being operated by a new species. Not much came of the encounter, and the ship continued on.

It then encountered yet another alien ship, dead in space. Little was able to be discovered about the dead aliens found on it. One of them was brought back to the Mongoose and is kept within a force field while being studied.

The ship's sensors then detected a star system within the Expanse. It turned out to be a super-system with 101 planets orbiting a red giant sun.

The Away Team is currently investigating one of those worlds.
