Chapter 1 side thread - die dog die

Jasna's gritted her teeth as Leleanne fell.  "Oh no, no.  You lot deal with the rat-rider, I'll see to her."

Rushing over and putting herself between Leleanne and the commando, Jasna summoned up her own wave of healing light, one that resembled an actual wave as it spread outwards.  "Just returnin' a favor, darlin'.  Let's get ye'back on your feet.  You'll be right as rain soon enough."

Move to K8.
16:59, Today: Jasna rolled 5 using 1d6.  Channel Energy, Healing.

Chapter 1 side thread - die dog die

No sooner had a small part of Leleanne's wound healed, the priestess felt another painful jolt, this time in her stomach. She felt a brief period of extremely sharp pain, then it went dark.

A few moments later, Leleanne's eyes opened, and the giant form of Jasna was standing nearby. "What... what happened?" The priestess asked the question, but it wasn't directed to anyone in particular.

Leleanne gingerly pushed herself upwards, and the arrow that had sunk into her stomach dropped to the ground, leaving a blood-stained hole in her dress. There was, however, an arrow still protruding from Leleanne's shoulder.

Two goblins were dead, but there was still one out there. Fortunately Leleanne's throwing arm wasn't damaged, and she picked up another rock. The priestess, angry at herself for being knocked out, and at the invaders, bit down an unladylike curse and hurled the rock at the goblin.

13:48, Today: Leleanne rolled 2 using 1d4.  Damage.
13:48, Today: Leleanne rolled 13 using 1d20.  Attack.

Chapter 1 side thread - die dog die

Cormac nodded to Jasna's suggestion and sprinted off.  Apparently, he had no desire to wait for the rider to charge and chose to charge the rider instead.  He roared a rather manic laugh as he tore across the open ground and at the last moment, leapt up and lashed out a wild flying kick.  Oddly, a tang of salt air blew past at the same time...

CHARGE!  Double movement gets me to F10
Flash Kick - 20 to hit, 2 Damage (Boo!)

AC Reduced to 15 (Or 16 if he counts as Medium up there on his beast)

OOC: GM Post based on Rini's instructions

Rini saw Jasna was tending to Leleanne. She and Flint both followed Cormac's lead, charging towards the goblin commando. Unfortunately both missed, parried by the goblin's horsechopper.

12:00, Today: GM, on behalf of Rini, rolled 8 using 1d20+6.  club attack on goblin with charge, shillelagh.
12:01, Today: GM, on behalf of Rini, rolled 4 using 1d20+2.  Flint charge attack on goblin.

Chapter 1 side thread - die dog die

Cormac managed to kick the goblin from his charge, but the creature mostly shrugged off the blow. Rini and Flint followed suit but their attacks were parried.

Meanwhile Jasna healed Leleanne, who then threw a rock at the goblin that narrowly missed it's head. Ophilia, out of breath from running back from Eliza's shop arrived on the field and cast a spell on herself.

Unable to flee without exposing its flank to three attackers, the goblin commando snarled fiercely and swung it's weapon at the most hated enemy in front of him. While he was a wolf, he resembled a dog enough to fire the goblin's rage and he targeted Flint, hoping to make a hole in the line and scare the rest off. His attack went wide though, narrowly missing the wolf.

His rat-dog mount followed his master's lead with more success, teeth snapping onto a patch of Flint's fur. Just being in contact with the filthy beast was enough to pass on an infectious skin rash to the dog. (Flint takes 4 damage and -2 to dex and cha for the rash)

The nobleman who was hiding behind the barrel rushed out to join Jasna at Leleanne's side. "Will she be ok?" he asked sounding concerned. He applauded when Leleanne stood up, "My lady you continue to impress!"

*I forgot to update his position on the map, but he's next to Jasna and Leleanne and probably won't get in the way!

Ophilia huffed and exhaled as she caught her breath and saw her friends fighting a goblin and some strange creature. She moved ahead trying to flank the goblin if she could. Then took a hearty swing with the walking stick.
Ophilia almost fell over from her wild swing.

Jasna gave Aldern an odd look, but just shifted into a smile as Leleanne got to her feet.  "She's made of tougher stuff than a l'il goblin on a big rat."  Jasna advanced toward the commando, calling down another tiny storm, but fares no better than the first time.

Move to I10.

Chapter 1 side thread - die dog die

Leleanne wasn't sure she agreed with Jasna; a moment ago she'd been lying on the floor, unaware of her surroundings.

The wound in her shoulder hurt, and she knew she was running out of energy; Leleanne probably had one, maybe two, opportunities to heal before she was spent.

However, should she need to heal again, Leleanne knew she needed to be in the centre of her friends, so she ran to a better position. The poor dog had taken a nasty bite, but everyone else seemed to be fairing better.

The priestess picked up another rock, and hurled it in the direction of the remaining goblin and his rat-thing. Her aim was off, and it flew harmlessly over his head.

Move to G13.
08:26, Today: Leleanne rolled 9 using 1d20.  Attack.

Chapter 1 side thread - die dog die

Cormac sidestepped to make sure the foe stayed good an surrounded, "Trapped now, in'tcha?"  He bent at the knees and leapt up again, throwing a flurry of rapid punches timed mostly to distract him from Rini's attempts to bash his head in.  A second quick leap allowed a snapping kick to the goblin directly...

5-foot Step - Which should put me in line to get a Flank Bonus from somebody?  Assuming E10?

Flurry Attack #1 - Aid Rini! Added Flank, though I'm not sure you get Flank on Aid?  Anyway, 22 (with Flank) 20 without.  Rini gains a +4.

Chapter 1 side thread - die dog die

The group closed in, threatening the trapped goblin from all sides. The beast snarled and fought on, prevented from running without being cut down from behind.

Most of the attacks missed the goblin, though Cormac caught him with a kick, and flint managed to bite the rat-dog, neither went down.

Knowing there was no escape for it, the goblin fought to the death. It deftly maneuvered its mount into the gap between Rini and Flint, moving into range of Leleanne who had moved up to try to heal her friends. Her dress offered little protection and both horse chopper and teeth bit into her flesh, tearing and rending and leaving her unconscious on the ground, bleeding and dying. Aldern gasped audibly when the beautiful cleric went down and rushed towards her, despite not really offering any aid.

(Leleanne hit for 2 from goblin and 4 from the mount leaving her at -1 hit points - it could have been MUCH worse!!!) The vicious assault proved that despite being outnumbered and surrounded, the goblin was still a dangerous foe!

The goblin mount took a five foot step to F12 then attacked Leleanne. Goblin and mount are both wounded but still standing and fighting for now.

Chapter 1 side thread - die dog die

It hadn't occurred to Leleanne that the goblin would target her. Surely there were more deadly foes for it to be concerned with. A moment later, that perception changed, and Leleanne found herself the recipient of a vicious double-attack. She felt pain again, this time much worse than the arrow in her shoulder, and for the second time in moments, it went dark.

Rini took advantage of the goblin’s shuffling adjustment. She was too late to save Leleanne but she made the creature pay dearly, striking a solid blow. Flint also made the best of the situation, nipping at the rat dog.

"NO!," shouted Cormac as the rider scarpered from the circle and went after Leleanne.  He leapt forward, slashing out with a stiff chopping punch. Landing, he immediately bounded up with another snapping kick.  He's a bit wild, failing to do much more than bother the air near the goblin...

5 foot step back into contact
Flurry #1 - 9

"You stop that, I just got her back on her feet!"  Jasna scolded the goblin as she stepped forward, mostly to try to keep its attention on her.

She points a finger at the fallen priestess.  While not as dramatic as some spells, the magic takes hold quickly. Bloodflow slowed and Leleanne's breathing evened out into something shallow but steady.

Five foot step to H11.
Cast Stabilize on Leleanne.

Chapter 1 side thread - die dog die

Ophilia and Jasna rushed to Leleanne's aid almost before she hit the ground. Jasna quickly stabilized her while Ophilia got her back on her feet.

Meanwhile the battle raged. Rini caught the goblin with a muscular swipe of her magical club, lifting it clear out of it's saddle and dropping him to the ground a few feet away, bloodied , broken and very dead. Between's Flint's bite and Cormac's kick, the dog quickly met with its rider's fate.

OOC decided to just assume cormac's 1d4+1 did 3 damage at least to get the combat done, rather than have a 1 hitpoint goblin dog last another round :-)

Foxglove rushed the rest of the way to Leleanne's side, expressing his concern and complimenting her bravery, her skills in the fight and her beauty in equal measure. He glanced around, perhaps looking for more goblins, then announced to the group, "You have my deepest gratitude for saving my life. I'm going to be in town for a few more days. Look me up at the Rusty Dragon when you get a chance.  I’d love to talk with more with you all," though his eyes were locked on Leleanne. "And reward you all properly for saving my life, of course!"

By the time Aldern Foxglove has wandered off, Sandpoint’s overall battle against the goblins seems to have been decided. Surviving goblins flee north in droves, in some cases preferring to leap to their certain deaths off the cliff at Junker’s Edge rather than be captured. Of course Eliza is still off on her own, checking her shop.

Ophilia's news quickly brought her back to action.  "Er, I know a few tricks, yeah.  Don't go expectin' miracles, but let's see to your place."  She set off back towards the alchemist's shop at a run.

Chapter 1 side thread - die dog die

Leleanne blinked, and her vision cleared. She noted that, once again, all she could see was the sky.

The priestess pushed herself up, and winced at the arrow still in her shoulder. Whatever wounds she picked up from the horrid goblin and that wretched creature had healed, however her dress had a gash up the side, and a hole where the rat-thing had bitten her in the stomach.

All in-all, the usually beautiful Leleanne looked a sight. She had large, dark lines under her eyes, and her complexion was ashen. If she admitted it to herself, she felt terrible.

Then she saw the nobleman cooing over her, and her first instinct was to slap him across the face. However, she stopped herself when Jasna teased her. "That's the last thing I need, believe me." She was too tired to keep her voice down.

Leleanne watched Ophilia and Jasna run off towards the shop. The priestess started to follow, then had second thoughts. Putting out fires wasn't really her expertise, and they might need help at the temple. "I'm going to check on the temple, please direct anyone there who needs medical attention."

Leleanne took a deep breath, and started moving.

Cormac stepped back from the dog-thing and involuntarily itched at his foot, grimacing  in annoyance...and concern.  The nobleman got a glance, but with everything else going on...and now this blessed foot...  He scratched again.  He considered Jasna and Ophilia, heading off to fight fires, wondering why maybe they weren't looking for buckets....  But, they seemed to have that in hand.  Leleanne standing again brought a grin; not all bad then.  Scratch.  "Righto... Send 'em on to the temple."  He glanced over to Rini, "So...  Search for those as need help?  Or mebbe find some buckets for the others?  I'm no use at the temple I shouldn't think..."

Rini looked on in disgust as the noble left. Once he was gone and she ensured the goblins were dead, the druid strode with purpose to the fallen hunting dog. She knelt next to the poor creature, petting its fur now matted with blood. No breath remained in the loyal beast and Rini sadly lowered her head. Strapping her shield to her back and looping her cudgel back on her belt, she picked the fallen hound up across her shoulders with practiced ease. To all the world she looked like a grisly sheperd carrying a bloody feral lamb.

“I’m with you little one. I’m of little use at a fire or temple. Before we’re off, check the leader. He may have some clue to what provoked this attack or a few coins for our trouble.”
