Had to get it photoshopped with the spider logo off her chest but I got a picture up in my character details.

Lol noticing a trend with the Characters,
Everyone seems more into the villains then the heroes.

Could this be an alternate story line?
Could we maybe switch from the hero campaign to creating a sort of sinister 6?
Or maybe a combo of both although I would need enough players.


Thoughts? I have another RTJ that is opting for a villain character

Actually I made a heroine instead of a psychopathic symbiote cannibal. She's a gruesome vigilante similar to the punisher. So don't worry you have one hero ;)

I applied as Green Goblin as I think he'd fit in well with Doctor Octopus and Harbinger. It looks like a solid reboot of the Dark Avengers to me. :)

The first issue of the comic would need to say:

I am extremely flexible guys' so I can adjust the game as needed.

Personally I love the idea of these three (and whoever else might join) being tasked to locate heroes and villains around the globe per your game ad. I wouldn't change a thing!

Perfect yeah the original thought remained for the search of others out there I like the Thunderbolt / suicide squad twist and can work that into the formation.
Not as Brutal as blowing off your heads should you not agree or cross the line lol.

Think we'll get any superheros/heroines?

Right now it's looking pretty interesting.

It'd be interesting to get a proper leader-type hero to keep all these personailities in check, but even if not I think we can do a lot of good for a lot of people, and also probably blow things up.

Darkstar isn't really a hero, but he's enough of a professional (criminal) to point out that, "You know, if we keep up the psychopathy, we won't just scare the villains.  As the great strategist Yoda might have said, "Fear leads to anger, anger leads to hate, hate leads to our employers deciding to nuke us from orbit just to be sure."

One thing I hope we maintain is the slightly more realistic take on super-beings that the Marvel Cinematic Universe had.  Like, we don't get briefings of "Electro and the Scorpion are knocking over a jewelry store in the Bronx.  Go get 'em, team!"

Instead, think of a bad guy with https://dc.wikia.com/wiki/Andrew_Franklin_(New_Earth) this guy's powers.  Now think about that dude working for Hamas.  Or ISIS.  Or The Ten Rings.

I mean, if you're villainously inclined and you get powers (or tech, or magic) that turn you into a walking/flying weapon of mass destruction, you're no going to rob banks unless you're just stupid.  You'll go to the Mexican cartels, or Iran or Kim Jung Un and say "Make me an offer and I'll be your nuke."

Hey I have powers and my targets are rapists and child abusers. And anything else is just conveniance. If you get superpowers your first order of business is revenge. Then second is using them to get what you want power, fear respect, money. And if you want money you're not going to be some terrorist a organizations hooker for money. Bank Robberies are efficient because you are only beholden to yourself. Plus you gotta stay true to t your ideals

The Green Goblin's first appearance had him trying to destroy Spider-Man by convincing a Hollywood executive to make a movie about Spider-Man and offering to set up the fight scenes. That's a nutty scheme. Dr. Doom's first appearance included sorcery, a time machine, and the Thing becoming Blackbeard the pirate, not about Dr. Doom trying to team up with Khrushchev.

I'd much rather be told to fly to the Savage Land and fight dinosaurs because Ka-Zar said he saw mutants than deal with real-world socio-political situations dressed up in spandex.

And those stories took place in the wackadoodle 1960s.  We're in the wackadoodle 2010s.

I don't mind fighting dinosaurs in the Savage Land, but I'd also like to play with some of the grittier element raised by the idea of a team that seems to be "the bad fighting the worse."

I don't know about that (and it seems to be self-destructing without outside help).  I really don't want to get too much into US domestic politics because of strong feelings on all sides.

Presumably all sides can agree that ISIS is bad.  ISIS also uses child soldiers and "brides" for their evil cult.  So figure Harbinger would love to "talk" with them.  If Goblin wants to go after criminals, there's few more criminal than war criminals.  Like that.

And it doesn't have to be real world.  The 10 Rings from Iron Man can be a thing.  As can various evil corporate and national types.  Figure some version of HYDRA could be around.

You're all in for realism or all in for fictional analogs like how in the eighties Mutants were used to represent Minorities, AIDS victims, and the LGBT community

I'm in for semi-realism.  I will say that I always thought the X-men stuff was kind of silly.  There is a pretty huge difference between a "flaming homosexual" and a dude who can actually engulf you flames.  Fear of the one is ignorant racism.  Fear (or at least concern about) the other is pretty damned rational when you get right down to it.

I'll be honest, if I want to play in a realistic game I'll steer clear of superheroes and play something else. I joined this game for fun and escapism, not to track ISIS or bring down multinational cartels. If we wind up going down that "realistic political" road I'll likely drop.

Our team seems very melee focused, quite mobile though. Green goblin is the probably the best ranged option we have at the moment. Hmm.. I didn't think the day would come when I thought, 'man we could really use Hawkeye on our team'. Maybe I should have written in some fireball spells or something.. hmm.

We also have a good amount of disabling abilities, maybe we can hold the baddies down and let Two at em.

I had the web-slingers tied for second. Although a combo attack launching a grenade sling style might be our best bet.

I had, for some odd reason, considered launching Two. If my spell list is all approved next week, I should be able to send things flying quite forcefully. My main concern there is that Two is far too adorable. I am worried the villains, should they survive, will run off with her.  :)

Of course I might be underestimating Kevin. I don't think I got the full Darkstar expereince the last time I RPed with his character. Maybe he has some ranged tricks.

To quote a favorite character of mine; "we'll break his legs!" The villains legs ofc.

Over a year ago, I didn't last very long. I don't recall the name, but it had Rook, Kevin, and a nina, vampire, gangboss running around together for a bit.

Oh, yeah, cool to see you again, former Rook.  Yeah, I quit that game awhile back, too.  This is different concept of Kevin, but still very much the same smart-ass.

As for Two and the nuke question, nukes are very much area effect weapons, so tossing her on it probably wouldn't help.  Maybe if she swallowed it?  How wide can Two open her mouth?

Well, if we had that, we really wouldn't need an invulnerable meat shield and I kind of want Two to be our new meat shield.  Plus, Kevin is totally jonesing for some good Chinese cuisine and do you really want Kevin or Norman to do the accounting?  You do not.

N fact: Originally Harbinger was going to be Carnage and she would have cannibalized her victims and possibly made art with their bones. Not because Carnage symbiote needed to feed on humans but because of a psychotic hunger that was purely psychological for the host. I toned her down to be able to play well with others ;p

That looks like a pretty cool costume.  Never fear, Kevin will likely find something else to raz you about.  Kevin can be something of an asshole.  He'll grow on you.  Kind of like athlete's foot.

There may or may not be clips of me in an earlier uh, unfinished suit online somewhere.

The best thing with Spiderman is that there's two, possibly three counting Harbinger of his arch-enemies here.  So all Kevin has do to is say "Boo" at the wrong time and it's an evening's entertainment for himself, Two and White Witch.

Kevin won't.  He's completely familiar with the fact that "anything he says can and will be used against him in a court of law."

As for Harbinger, I like the webs/spider connection.  I like that there's a kind of weird core group-within-the-group composed of Harbinger, Doc Ock, Green Goblin and Spiderman, even if they don't quite have the same history in this world.

That could be its own story if you think about it

See I didn't have web slinging and stuff specifically because I didn't want to infringe on someone's back story. What if their Spiderman never had a Symbiote. I could have that connection but I didn't want to force them into a box.

As for me I've had the suit since I was 14 and I'm 19. A few kills a week for 260 weeks = let's be conservative and say four. 1040 with the exception of days when she's killed groups of people so 1138 victims

So, she never took a week off for Christmas or summer vacation?  That's sad.  Scary as fuck, too, but sad.

Well her first murder involved turning daddy badtouch into meaty pudding all over the apartment ceiling, floor, walls. Needless to say she doesn't have an affinity for holidays.

Your current character portrait works fine.  You can always locate a screenshot of Page from HC and put it in your description.

Well, given the nature of the symbiote, Harbinger kind of does have two faces...

Goblin's not to deep into his criminal career. Per my character description he probably pulled a few jobs for a big shot bad guy (let's go with Frederick "Big Man" Foswell, head of the Enforcers) when he first got started before deciding to make a big name for himself by killing Spider-Man. Spidey beat him and talked him into a life of vigilantism instead. It'd probably work to say Spidey put Gobby in touch with whoever's bankrolling our team as a way to keep him focused and not running around solo.

I don't know.  Granted that these are different versions of old characters, but it doesn't ring true to me that Norman Osborn would pull "jobs" for anyone but himself (though he might have pulled jobs with The Enforcers that he had an interest in).  I can't see him accepting any but the most nominal of subordinate positions (ie running the TASK FORCE for SHIELD).

As for bankrolling the team, I figured Normam would be doing that with his own resources and by laundering SHIELD resources through his company.  As for Spider-man, I think it would fit the story better that Norman was the one who brought Spider-man on board because he new himself and his team well enough to know that he'd need Spider-man to help act as a kind of "moral center" for the group.

2. I wrote my background a specific way for a specific reason. The GM accepted. Please don't infer any tone here because there's absolutely none intended, but while you're welcome to comment, I don't need any assistance with my character. You write yours, I'll write mine.

Hey all. Nice to see the interaction :)
Back from vacation so will catch up on some emails tomorrow and post up a couple boards to get us started along with reviewing a couple of characters.

I was a little surprised by the interest in the game as I'm still getting a few requests to join. But will start us off and mesh out the team's interaction and the direction of the game, and some of the backgrounds.

We will see how it goes for all and time I know games usually start fast a furious with many posts in a day or in a week but the initial thought was once or twice a week. Again will play by this by ear and will see how things go as we move along.

Hi All, Just catching up at work, Will have a few boards up soon. Still have a few characters to review, but overall we're looking good.

My character is going to be horrified when he hears those numbers and finally puts two and two together figuring out what you mean. It could take a few decades for him to puzzle through all on his own, though.

Please do not stress on the amounts of posts you can do in a day or in a week! I’m hoping the game will be running for quite some time so it’s all good. I know how real life can get in the way, Been there and technically disappeared from RPOL for 8 years even while running 3-4 games that were around for several years and needing to disappoint my players.

I also apologize for the slight confusion on some of the intro threads for some characters. I am a little rusty but promise to make it all up to you as we move along.
There are a lot of unique and powerful characters so had to slightly adjust the direction I was gonna take.
Also since I wanted to absolutely start yesterday some intro’s were a tad rushed without having had the time to PM some of you to explain.

If you do not agree with something I am not set in my ways. I will adapt to what you need for your characters. Do not get discouraged or disappointed.
I need to get use to all your ways of playing and posting and try to align with your thought processes but most important need to remove some of my rustiness of GM’ing 

GM, not sure if you need/want to add anything to my solo thread. If not I can carry on; it's just a way to get him out in public doing something heroic(ish) to get the attention of Agent 8 and Mr. Naslund.

And Yes Harbinger.  I have had a free form where a character went overboard on certain actions similar to say slapping rogue, grabbing her and throwing down before leaving and not even consider the effect of that touch would do on the first action let alone anything after lol.

I'm in a game where we just had a 15hr old use her powers to zing euros off Juggernauts butt as he half hung out of a dimensional rift cause his magical ass was too hefty for the portal.

No idea if you actually want me to act out the getting the info and getting 1140 under my belt/ fighting off a group of Agents or if you just wanted to basically dramatic cut to the gathering.

I'm in no hurry, If you want to elaborate on it an then your board is open for you to use and have a blast with.

Once you are ready to continue in the Gathering Post let me know....

I still have a couple people to finalize the meetings with so there is no rush.

One interesting thing with Harbinger is the 1139 dead child sex offenders (which are different from pedophiles because while pedophiles feel their urges they don't necessarily act on them and Harbinger's victims have acted on them).  That's a lot of offenders.  Plus, the number has presumably remained pretty steady despite our toothy psychopath torturing 1139 of them to death, many on a webcam.  You'd think the number of offender would be tapering off, through attrition if nothing else, but it hasn't.  So, maybe there's something else at work that's somehow creating new offenders or dis-inhibiting those that wouldn't normally offend.

That's a good point, Darkstar. Perhaps the "status quo is god" aspect of comic book universes is in operation there? Or her own superhuman focus on the subject is causing spontaneous generation of the kind of prey she specializes in, a la the superhero paradox?

A good number have been put on the registry for things like public urination. But 700,000 means plenty of legit sick shits and those are the actual registered ones. The guy who never gets caught be cops gets caught by her.

Figure her fans will be less... accurate.  Somebody who was molested as a by by a man might decide all gay men are perverts and must die.  Harbinger might be put in the position of having to bring to justice some of the very people she once saved.

As a victim of abuse herself she can recognize behavior of abusers ( her dad taught her that accidentally)  and behaviors of victims ( her own )  with the help of the Sex offender registry, the rising tide, her guest book, and observation ( using the Symbiote to spy on potential abusers before attacking. Exactly my point.  Copycats won't have what Harbinger has, so they're more likely to target the innocent/undeserving.  I recall a Punisher story where Frank inspired three copycats:  a lunatic priest, a racist suburbante and a vigilante who was sloppy about collateral deaths.  The Punisher killed them all.

My new headcanon is that Thanos Snap couldn't be undone which is why Peter Parker is dead but Andrew Johnson isn't. All original people were killed by the Snap and the new universe filled the roles. Characters like Doc Ock survived the snap but their memories changed to fit the new timeline.

Isn't it a completely different world? If someone was from the other timeline and had new memories, do those memories fit reality of earth 922? If they do, doesn't that mean that a earth 922 already had a Dr. Oct within it, before the other Dr. Oct arrived and had a change of memories? Would the original earth 922 Dr. Oct cease to exist, getting replaced completely by the other? Would there be two, both with identical memories until the merging of timelines occured?

As per White Witch’s Enquiry, and  Harbinger,

The snap and the events that followed lead to a completely different world. Hence the Earth 922 So on this earth Infinity War has not happened.

Your Characters are Unique to this world, So since Doc Ock , Spiderman, Green Goblin are  in the group they will be the only one.
However that being said Comics has an odd way of introducing so many versions to cannon  they enjoy making it confusing at some point. I tend to try to stay away from that to avoid some confusion.

As for Memories.
Since We obviously cannot link every single character to 50 years of Comic books ( And I honestly have been out of the loop to most current stories for too many years)

 I can take some memories that the team members have and add then into Earth 922 whether they been from the comics, Movies, Graphic Novels or even made up and use it in the background or their developing stories

As long as it’s not a major Earth changing effect say like infinity war in which Spiderman and the Avengers battled in or the Original Secret wars for example. Then I would request a change, But things like Working with someone for a minor mission like Spiderman and Green Goblin then is all good and I’ll advise for minor tweaks when need be.

If you have crossed path with one of the current members say seeing one of GG old crimes that is fine, then I would PM the 2 of you to work out a small background.

I'm there with William, and Two and Doc just arrived. If someone is referencing a hive mind, that's my character (for the time being, until others are introduced). Although only one of his bodies/selves is the player character and the rest are NPCs.

One of the challenges in playing a free-form game, particularly with a character who's smart and/or has some heightened or exotic senses is separating out what the character could reasonably know/learn/figure from meta-gaming.  It can be a pretty thin line.  I admit that I read the other threads because I want the whole story.

I figure Kevin would know about Spider-man and Green Goblin because he keeps up with supers activity in order to determine who might be missing.  Kent seems like he's been keeping his head down.  He's probably heard about some vigilante type taking out child molesters but he wouldn't have been that interested because it didn't seem to be supers related.

I post open to allow you to read other threads, The Jucier tidbits are usually sent in Private message to avoid Meta gaming.

But I’ll give you all the choice, If you prefer I block the threads that you are not in I can.

I think reading others and catching tidbits can allow you to help form and shape this version.

So even if say Spider and Gobil are in another thread and refer to a past iteraction it is possible that said interaction could have been on the news or on the net and could allow you to bring up the subject without really meta gaming.
But best case scenario if you are not sure you can ask before posting.

I prefer to be able to see the larger story. Avoiding metagaming is fairly simple for me, particularly in freeform.

Not really it just absorbs DNA blood has DNA but there are other ways to get DNA

If it is based on DNA, than putting it on Bloodrager would be worthless to the symbiote.

The self-resurrection part of my power uses large quantities of loose blood to reform my body from. Slaughterhouse, blood bank, disaster area, just not vital fluid currently in use by another living thing. So, DNA? Who were the blood sources? It isn't where my powers are located, that is certain.

tbh, I have no idea how Bloodrager even works.

All I saw was fits of restorative rage, and otherwise no real sources. So... Couldn't tell yeah how his interaction with a symbiote would work.

Plus they feed off adrenaline and other fluids/hormones. So they could potentially feed off Two, but would likely be forced to stop if the lack of fluid/hormones were about to cause injury.

I assume invulnerable means invulnerable. So an invulnerable symbiote would probably shrug off fire and sonic waves. At that point only thing that could kill them would be Ultimate despair like the emotions released by Venom during the symbiote invasion.

Or magic. Magic can solve lots of problems. :)

The Fantastic Four do exist buth in this version they are not as flashy or renowned as in the comics. But they are around.
Conners is a a smart scientists but as of yet not the Lizard.
A handful of X-verse characters are rumoured but have not been seen much... And unlike the comics "mutants" are not hated.. they are just considered supers.

The symbiote might not allow her to donate blood as symbiotes main goal is to have it's host so dependent on them that they couldn't live without them and Harbinger seems more then a willing Host. But this is pretty much left for discretion i guess

I just looked it up and a version of this is how Carnage was created.  During one of the times that Eddie Brock/Venom broke out of prison, he left a piece of his symbiote behind.  That piece bonded with a serial murderer named Cletus Kasidy to become Carnage.

Basically once a bit of Harbinger's symbiote leaves leaves her and bonds to another body/host, it takes its cues from that person.  We could be witnessing the creation of a new hero - or a terrifying new villain.
