OOC thread. #2

The original thread was reaching it's limit, This is the new thread.

Darkstar:
Taskmistress:
Darkstar taking charge.

Basically, Kevin would rather take the team on dangerous missions to steal from murderous criminals than to accept funds from a rich guy that might maybe have some strings attached.

I get Where you're character is coming from and where you want to go,

However this was initially intended as a Hero's game and not full out vigilante team (which is basically what we would be doing in that concept)

I did want to allow for some of the darker aspect hence the initial "breaking of the law " speech at the start and allow for some leeway for certain aspects, (which allowed what Harbringers got away with)

Darkstar and Taskmistress can fit the Vigilante mode...Maybe Mortis, Possibly Blood due to the (for lack of better term) "D&D" type attitude.

A vigilante team may be a far stretch for Darwin, Spiderman (if he is still around), and Aurora.

But I am flexible and can adapt to change the direction of the team and game along with some of the other game villains and NPC's that will be introduced later on.

I just would need everyone on the same page though.

I'm not 100% back yet (remodel is being dragged out, and my house looks like a disaster with boxes, tools, and other around, among other things) but I'm willing to follow whatever path we take. Darwin probably isn't the vigilante type, but I do have other characters who might be a good fit.

It does look like the group has kind of been leaning toward a darker route, so that might be a really fun way to go.

As far as vigilantes goes, Kevin isn't The Punisher or even Batman.  He's more like somebody who'd be a member of the Leverage team.  Or maybe a superheroish Robin Hood.

Kevin is a criminal.  He thinks like a criminal even if he is somewhat on the side of good.

Figure part of his plot and struggle will be learning to be more of a true superhero.

No problem Darwin, thanks for the update.

I know it's not full on kill a la Punisher style (well not anymore lol) but "steal from murderous criminals " is a vigilante act not heroism,
and murderous criminals isn't something that is "common" in a typical marvel game. But can be a fun element to add on certain Villains,

Hence why the shift to vigilante type. So if by chance we open the game up should we need new people we'll know that someone like Capt A would not be a good fit.

I will note that (a former) Captain America is already a good fit given that he's effectively the main boss of the Task Force.  I'll also note that in the Civil War, Captain America was basically on this side of the vigilantes.  He wanted the Avengers free to go where they wanted to and do whatever needed to be done to whomever they needed it to be done to.

Ultimately Kevin's point is "HYDRA is made up of a bunch of Bad People with Sinister Plans.  Do we really truly want to sit around waiting for them to spring a Weather Dominater, Alien Invasion Gate or Sub-Orbital Murder Gun Platforms on us or should we hit them and bankrupt them before they do all that crap?  Maybe siphon their bank accounts and divert their billions toward famine relief in sub-Saharan Africa.  And you know, maybe a 4k entertainment system in all of our rooms.  Like that."

Adding my 5 cents...

Governments already target criminals, freeze illegal funds, & confiscate contraband.  Kevin's idea to use the wealth of criminals could still be above board with Government permission and some record keeping.  Basically a privateer charter :)

Other than covering an R&D budget, I'm not sure what other serious expenses the Taskforce has.  Also taking down cashed up criminal groups of non-enhanced members sounds like training practice for some of us.

Overall, I'm happy to go with the majority.

LOL alright alright hehe Point taken Kevin :)

OK not a problem and most seem happy with it.

Darwin I don't see too much conflicting with your character so I don't really see this as being a stretch for her.

I don't think Spidey would be an issue since he isn't the Peter Parker one.... however I think we may of lost him as his last login was Mon, 25 Mar. And Aurora maybe awol as well...

So will let some idle chit chat go by and set us up for this. I'll post up later my part for Naslund with Kevin.

See, really this is a debate that needs to be held in-game between the characters - much in the same way the debate was held in Captain America: Civil War.

Here in OOC I'm telling you Kevin's viewpoint as the character.  For me the player, I'm fulling willing to go where the group as a whole wants to go.  If the group wants to go full-on four color superheroes, I'll make sure Kevin will (grudgingly at first and with plenty of snide comments) go along with that.

Besides, there's no reason there can't be a mixture.  Age of Ultron started with the Avengers hunting down HYDRA and attacking their final base before morphing into a war against a (strangely charismatic and well-spoken) killer robot hive intelligence.

As of The Avengers "...Earth is ready for a higher form of war."  Any of the beings from this list might be stopping by to try to kick our furniture around: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/...ces_in_Marvel_Comics

Plus we've kinda sorta pissed off Mephisto, the Marvel version of Satan.  Figure there'll be repercussions from that.

We have the whole Marvel universe to play with.  We'll have a variety of stuff to do.

I agree, I was not intending the game to be the goody goody two shoes hero's, But it's always nice to have one member with a high moral compass on the team though lol

I do want to go more gritty then the most Supers game and will be going in that direction hench why originally harbringer was brought on (although it did become a little extreme but was a good shift) and now with Taskmistress

But hard to just jump in and that that route if you have no explanation on how we support ourselves which is initially what I wanted to establish first. There was a method to my madness as technically we are still getting our feet wet However with this Maggia hit that takes away from needing to rely on others.

So besides Mephisto + Harbringer on the loose,

This will allow also 2 new arcs to play out.

The Maggia which will definitely be looking for retribution.

Harry may potentially be upset now that he may be turned down which may result in trouble for the crew and with Oscrp under his belt... Should be fun coming our way!

So William and Kevin can discuss in the office and then we can bring this to the team as a whole ;)
