As far as character creation, yes, you're applying a full 12 levels of goodies and adjustments.  I will also be tweaking a few things here and there for each of you, but that's after you've done your groundwork.

Also, I seem to be having eyesight problems.  For some odd reason, any set of stat rolls that does not contain at least 2 rolls at 16 or higher is illegible to me.  Perhaps those of you that applies to should try to aid me? ;)

Speaking of creating characters, should we PM you our sheets when we're done?

How do you feel about myth-weavers for character sheets?

Our setting is Greyhawk with the serial numbers filed off, but if you'd like to import a god from Faerun or some other plane, well, they are gods, after all!

Seconding the starting money question! I've filled out my sheet, but I haven't totally settled on my primal path yet

I'm working out how much I'll give you in usable funds, but for general equipment, assume anything reasonable you'd want to own, you own.  Unless you don't think your character would've invested well, but then take that up with me and we'll work it out!

Another thing to think about. Since we've been retired for almost twenty years, could we have invested some time and money into learning new languages/tools using the 250gp/250day rule? I mean, it's totally up Acanthya's alley considering she's living a fairly quaint life teaching in a small town...:-)

Strongholds will be a hard no.  Businesses are fine, though when you're out adventuring, it's going to be a sight harder than finding Ye Olde ATM to access your profits!

I'll let you each earmark up to 2,000 gp for use on bettering your educations.  you don't have to use that much, and using or not using it will not affect anything else.

How much does Feat training cost?

Pretty sure you can only train languages and tools. I could be wrong as my mastery of 5e is still in its early stages...:-)

You're partially right Acanthya.  The DMG does provide for the ability to train to learn a feat, but it's as a possible reward, and more of an optional rule.  I subscribe to the "spend it on languages, skills, and took proficiencies" school of thought,.  Does that help (or at least answer the question) Markus?

Unfortunately, Uthal had to leave us due to that dreaded Real World, of which we hear so many rumors.  I have reached out to the waitlist for one more.

In the meantime, have I performed my DM duties for you all, or do I still need to get back to anyone on anything?

The waitlist has been fairly silent.  possibly given the length of time and the fact that due to my life, we went on life support during infancy.  I'm going to throw a post up in Wanted: Players, and give people until after Christmas to send me RTJs, then work from there.  Sound good?

Well. We seem to number four, now. I count a half-elven paladin, a human fighter or maybe rogue, and a dwarf who could be a (barbarian) battlerager for all I can tell. I have detected a need for a full-progression caster and for raw dps.

I've looked over the thread from August, and I think Kella was originally *trying* to be what Markus really was. They'd probably have grown out of it together, though while he grew into a hardass with a conscience, she got back into cooking and making people regret harassing her kids. New Team Mom doesn't care if you eat your veggies, but bullies steer clear.

Hello gang!

Ghorza is a war priestess of Gruumsh--a feat of fate, destiny and blood which was not of her own choosing. Ghorza carries her power like a curse and while proficient regrets not being allowed to choose the fundamental path that her life would follow.

She is a borderline berserker in battle but outside of combat she strives to maximize the user of tactics and strategy.

Ghorza has a soft spot for a healer who brought her back from death's door (if anyone wants the role I think that would  be super cool). In her backstory the situation is someone of an unrequited love but PG roleplay is welcomed.

Ghorza is also know for her soft spot for half-breeds and works to create an orphanage just for them.

Looking forward to working to mix our BGs/collective stories!

Hi everyone!  I’m a little pressed for time, but it’s great to be here.  Satari is a Tiefling Valor bard with the soul of the roguest rogue to ever rogue (mostly an affectation for her own amusement).  I look forward to forcing you all to cheer up!

So I updated my description with my initial writing sample to gain access if you would like to read it. It gives a little bit more about my backstory, what has happened since we retired, and mentions a few things we could have done as a group.

That helps. It does feel a little like we're all rephrasing our RTJs at each other, so why not actually copy them out? I'll put mine up as a description for now, but it'll be replaced once I have a better idea what kind of life to write for.

Everyone appears to be substantially ready to proceed...so give me a couple of hours to knock out some RL things, and i’ll Get you all up and running!

Insofar as it actually has rooms one can stay in, it's an inn.  In terms of the atmosphere of the place, it feels more like a tavern.

@Acanthya: Being obliterated in a torrent of fire works fine.  I think Kella actually took Gate instead of Wish for her 9th level spell.  She sort of has two streams running parallel: damage spells and movement ones.  So a Gate straight to the worst parts of the elemental plane of fire would absolutely be her panic button.  And I suppose everyone else can be forgiven for not realizing she was practically an elemental herself at that point (level 18 sorcerer gets weird).  She would have tried to hide it.  And having her mortal parts burned away by the stunt and needing to recover for a long-ass time explains them missing each other when everyone tried to find the fallen.  Works for me.

Umm, you're 18th level? I thought we were only 12th...

We used to all be epic, and have since lost ground.  At least, that's how I understood the scenario.  We were all in the 18-22 range when we retired, and 12 is what our skills have rusted to.

Where did you hear that? The only reason I say that is because that's not the perception I got from the game. How did we lose levels? I thought we made it to 12th in our adventures and then retired.

Kella has the right of it....the intention is what would happen when your world-shakers (though more like level 18 than 22!)  retired...and then got dragged back in without warning?  while you may not have forgotten everything you know, ten years of doing nothing related to life-or-death adventuring will make you pretty damn rusty!

It has been awhile since I looked at the opening blurb. Not to mention, from the rules perspective, it never occurred to me we could regress in levels. In that case, I am...or was...much more of a bad ass than I imagined...:-)

Without going into it too much, there are a few emergency real life situations going on for me. They seem to be resolving, but it may be closer to a couple of weeks vs. a couple of days before I’m fit to DM.

I consider the game dead. The game master disappeared twice. That's usually once more than I usually allow. I hope everyone else has luck in their future gaming...:-)

And started recruiting for another one without even communicating with us for a month.  That's kind of a slap in the face.

I didn't even look that far into it. That is indeed a very scummy thing to do.

So I just checked out the other other game they ran, back in 2016.  End of the OOC thread there is everyone lost and confused about the GM deserting them, just like this.  And D_L hasn't even deleted the thing yet.

Okay. I'm talking to mods.  This is a pattern of bad behavior.

Well.  I actually have no idea where to turn on that.  I was so sure I had seen a Players' Rights page somewhere.  Maybe it was a more heavily moderated site I was on.

Yeahhhh, in general, games on rpol are GM's play rooms.  It's not going anywhere.  But I thought the whole lot of you seemed like a blast to play with.  Exchange site handles and pass invitations around as things come up, you think?
