Build a Stuffed Animal Warrior  (Read Second)

BUILD YOUR STUFFED ANIMAL WARRIOR 101:

Section 1: The Two Big Questions:

In this game you will be playing a stuffed animal that has been awakened in order to protect the child you have bonded to.  How this happened is not really important, but as a stuffed animal you have some bonuses that you wouldn't have as a flesh and blood creature.

This guide will help you build and develop the basics of your character.  Follow the easy steps and transfer the finished product into your RTJ- The process is meant to be fun.  I'm not going to be rolling dice in this part of the process.

Before you begin building your character you need to decide two things:

1-  What type of stuffed animal are you?
              A)  Size restrictions: These need to be stuffed animals that would be allowed
into the room of a children's hospital in order for the child to sleep
with it.  Giant Pandas or Giraffes would not have the "Love" needed in
order to awaken.  Night time cuddles are required.

               B) Fourteen inches is the maximum height/ length.

2-  How old is your stuffed animal?  Meaning how long has your stuffed animal been
          loved.

                A)  Is it a hand me down, so it’s been through several children?

                B)  Is it a parent’s former toy, so there is a gap in ownership?

                C)  Is it a new toy that just spoke to your child and has been held since
                    toddlerhood or babyhood?

                D)  Is it a new stuffed animal that just barely was purchased, gifted, or
                    found?

You need to know how many months your toy has been “Loved.”  So basically 12
months per year and round up.  So if your toy has been loved for one week- count
            it as one month.
                   * (We're assuming that the bulk of playtime where
toys are "real" rather than toys happens between 1 and 5.)
**  Because the Dice Roller will only record 20 individual D6 rolls- I'm
capping ownership at 7.5 years total or 90 months max.
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Section 2: Building Your Character:

Finding Your Level:

Level is a description of your character’s relative degree of power.  The points connected to your level will give you additional skills and abilities- later on in this process.
Your level is determined by how long your character has been owned by the child.  The longer your toy has been cuddled by a child, the more it has built up that special magic that makes you alive.

1-  Starting level is determined by your toys age. How long has your toy
 been
          owned/loved? _______ months.

               A)  Being put on a dusty shelf does not count.  Being played with, cuddled,
given life by a child's imagination is key in this process.

               B)  Determine (If you ignored me above) the total number of months played
with as a Loved Toy.  _________ (Remember: round up- Max 90)

               C)  Divide that number by 6 and round up.  This is your level.  (It should fall between Level 1 and Level 15)

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Finding Your Strength:

Strength Number determines how sturdy your toy is, and how physically strong they are.
Strength is determined by the age of the toy.  The older your toy- the less strong they are.  The newer you are the more your stuffing, thread, and various parts will hold.

1- Use the following chart to find your Character’s Strength Number.  Find your Level and record the corresponding Strength number.
2-  Make a note of any of the Limitations and Bonuses for that level.

------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Establish your Warrior's Ability Scores:

There are six major ability scores in this game:

Physical Strength/ Durability: You establish using the chart (same number)
Wisdom:  Is equal to your level.  So level 1 is a Wisdom of 1.  Level 20= a Wisdom of 20
Dexterity: STARTING LEVEL: 4
Speed: STARTING LEVEL: 4
Stamina: STARTING LEVEL: 4

Next: Adjust your Ability Scores per the Bonus section of the table.

Example: A Level 3 Bear (Mr. Bear) has the following bonuses: Increased Toughness +3 to Durability: Can choose +1 bonus to Stamina or +1 bonus to Speed, and +1 bonus to Dexterity.  (The player decides to add +1 to Stamina and gets +1 to Dexterity.)

So Mr. Bear's starting Ability Scores (with bonuses) are:
Physical Strength: 14
Durability: 14+3= 17
Wisdom: 4= 4
Dexterity: 4 +1 =5
Speed: 4 =4
Stamina: 4 +1= 5

-------------------------------------------------------------------------

Tune your character:

Every Strength Level gives you an extra point that you can add to one of the Stats.  These are attributes that make you stronger, faster, more nimble, and make it so you don't get exhausted.  The newer the toy, the better these are.

What is your Strength Number? _______
Now split that number up to add it to the various attributes:

Example continued: Mr. Bear's Strength Number is: S14.  He has 14 points to divide amongst his stats.  The player decides to put 4 points in Wisdom, 4 points in Dexterity, 4 points in Speed, and 2 points in Stamina.

Mr. Bear's stats are now:
Physical Strength: 14+0= 14
Durability 17+0= 17
Wisdom: 4+4= 8
Dexterity: 5+4= 9
Speed: 4+4= 8
Stamina: 5+2=7

---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

What does this mean for your character?

Breakdown of the scales bottom to top:

Physical Strength: (Every 4 points= 10 lbs lift and open/close)
Durability:  (1 very old weak seams and cloth--------> 20+ Brand new cloth/seams)
Wisdom: (1 brand new/ foolish and naive--------> 20+ understands the real world)
Dexterity: (4 Clumsy ----------------> 20+ Can ninja jump off of a moving tightrope, doing a back hand spring on to a head of a pin.)
Speed: (4 Very Slow/ Limping ----> 20+ should be in the Olympics)
Stamina:(4 Runs out of breath easily----------> 20+ Could go for hours on a treadmill without breaking a sweat)

So, Mr. Bear can lift 55 lbs.  He’s very sturdy.  He’s very new and doesn’t know much about the world. He is normal in his athletics.  He's on the slow side and he runs out of breath easily.

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
CHOOSE YOUR CLASS:

Every character is drawn to a particular set of skills.  You must determine which class your character belongs to:

Warrior - Fighters, Defenders, Tanks, Barbarians- wielders of all things pointy. (Specialty Classes- Monks and Knights)
Rogue- Thieves, Scouts, Entertainers, and Assassins- those of the shadows.
Medic- Healers, Paramedics, Doctors- Have needle and thread will travel.
Squint- Tinkers, Blacksmiths, Strategists, Scientists
Magician (Must have Wisdom 14 or higher) - Wielders of magical bits of wonder.

---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Purchase Skills:

Skills specific to your Class can be found in the Red, Blue, Green, Yellow, and White Books along with their costs.

You may purchase skills from books that don't belong to them (as long as they are not restricted to the specific class.  Purchasing a skill outside of your class costs DOUBLE what the point cost is in the book.

How many skill points do you have?

All players have a base 10 Skill PointsYou get one skill point for each level.
So a level 3 character would have 13 skill points.  A level 15 character would have 25.

What skills you purchase are up to you.  Many combinations will work to your advantage.  I realize some skills are silly, but this is a game about stuffed animals.  Make a note of them on your RTJ.  Use them to help develop your character's personality and style.

As you roll using skill points- the player should collect 1's rolled.  Each of these 1's are stockpiled until the player "Levels up."  When this happens, the Warrior must establish any limitations given on the Strength table, but then are able to add Skill and Ability points = to the number 1's they rolled during the previous level.  This can be used to bolster up any Ability points lost due to age, or can be used to learn new skills.

------------------------------------------------------------

Miscellaneous Playtime skills

Every character must buy at least 1

Actor or Actress- 1 skill point
Balloon Animals Party Trick- 1 skill point
Board Game Companion- 1 skill point
Fashion Diva- 1 skill point
Fridge Box Master- 1 skill point

Free Stuff!  Yay!!!

Dark Vision
Awakened Stuffed Animals are accustomed to the darkness of a small home or building. You can see in dim light within 30 feet of you as if it were bright light, and in darkness as if it were dim light. You can’t discern color in darkness, only shades of gray.  (Loss of an eye cuts this in half.)

Cute and Cuddly
Levels 1 through 11 roll with advantage on all persuasion checks.

Through the Mill:
Levels 12 through 20 roll with advantage on all intimidation checks.

Filled With Fluff
You are resistant to bludgeoning damage from non-magical sources.
You are vulnerable to fire damage.
Additionally, you fall at a rate of only 60 feet per round, take no falling damage and can land on your feet. (Whether you squeak or not is up to you.)

Inconspicuous
While motionless you appear as a normal stuffed animal.

Living Construct

Even though you are constructed you are a living creature.
You do not eat or breathe.
You are immune to natural poison- magical poisons are different.
Toys sleep when humans are active.  When they are sleeping you look and behave like a normal stuffed animal.  When a Warrior rests for at least 4 hours- all stats, durability, and magic replenish.

Magic Abilities:
Haste: Two times in a twenty four hour period an awakened stuffed toy can cast haste on itself. This effect actually triples the toy's base speed.

Substitute breath: Because an awakened stuffed doesn't have a breath of its own, it can create a magical effect from its mouth that would substitute an exhaling breath. This breath is mostly used by the creature to fire needles from its blowgun, causing the needles to have a range of 30 feet.

Developing your Character:

This is where I turn things over to the RTJ.  The questions there are meant to help you create a unique character that has an interesting story to tell.  If you have questions feel free to contact Buttons and Fluff for advice or help.  :)
