Re:  Lane (Kyokushin Karate) vs Baogang (Tia Chi Chuan)

Ahh... the character sheet. Great.  Thank you.
17:06, Today: Vulco1 rolled 11 using 3d6.  Quick contest for grapple 12. Lost
16:56, Today: Vulco1 rolled 11 using 3d6.  Immovable Stance (13) vs 3d6. Success.

With his leg grappled and Baogang using leverage, Lane focuses on the lessons of his master. He focuses on remaining Immovable.

I got a success on my Immovable Stance so it's another quick contest of your Judo vs my roll

You're prone on the ground now. I can keep your foot by holding onto you and kneeling, but I'll be letting go of it to avoid the penalties

Lane moves from his prone position to a kneeling position.

I think it's your turn now.
Thanks for the advice to double check my punch and kick math.  You were right, it was off.

Baogang just takes the chance to evaluate, watching his opponent and catching his breath.

Baogang has been expecting this and attempts another Cloud Hands parry, this time at a much closer range and stepping back slightly.
16:04, Today: Dblade rolled 10 using 3d6.  Parry 12 +3(Retreat)  15.

Then, as was the true nature of Cloud Hands, he attempted to turn his parry into a sudden, fluid Arm Lock

16:12, Today: Dblade rolled 11 using 3d6.  Arm Lock 19-4 (Deceptive Attack) .

Re:  Lane (Kyokushin Karate) vs Baogang (Tia Chi Chuan)

I'm having some of the worst rolls.
09:56, Today: Vulco1 rolled 16 using 3d6.  Aggressive Parry (13) vs 3d6.
09:58, Today: Vulco1 rolled 18 using 3d6.  Immovable Stance QC (13) vs 3d6.

Lane tries to parry the second throw attempt but can't get to it in time.

You have to do a QC on my immovable stance that you will probably win.

Um, didn't you just fail your immovable stance roll? You rolled an 18, isn't that a crit fail?

Re:  Lane (Kyokushin Karate) vs Baogang (Tia Chi Chuan)

The Immovable Stance entry says that against a Judo Throw, it goes straight to a Quick Contest Characters pg.201, if the active defense doesn't work. It looks like against Judo Throws in particular, Immovable Stance isn't a "skill succeeds/skill fail" thing.

I don't think quick contests have an critical fail conditions, because of the Margin of Success thing and it doesn't mention critical fails.

Re:  Lane (Kyokushin Karate) vs Baogang (Tia Chi Chuan)

Yes, judo has to be rolled against. This is a formality though, because a judo of 15 can't get a margin of failure of 5. The relevant post by an official gurps person:

Re:  Lane (Kyokushin Karate) vs Baogang (Tia Chi Chuan)

11:10, Today: Dblade rolled 6 using 3d6.  Judo Throw QC (16) vs 3d6.

Good to know. So in this case even if I were also to roll an 18, I would win because my MoF is smaller?

Edit: Don't forget to roll against HT for stun after Lane hits the ground.

Baogang once again moved to parry the kick and move his opponent off balance.

17:00, Today: Dblade rolled 9 using 3d6. Judo 12+2(All Out Defense)+3(Retreat) -3(Riposte) TN 14.

Then he moved to try and catch the leg and take Lane down in one move, though the speed of his effort meant the takedown attempt wasn't as smooth as normal.

17:18, Today: Dblade rolled 13 using 3d6. QC for Takedown if Leg Grapple succeeds 16 -1(Rapid Strike)+3 (Leg Grapple) 18. MoS 5
