I suppose genetically modifying some humans back then by an alien race might seem like gods working and they could produce similar results I'd assume to modern genetic experiments, so I think it is possible," Bobby said.

Darryl points out "But last year in South America it was demonstrated that large kites could be used to elevate multiton blocks of stone up to 500 feet in the air, using only materials available back then. I can call up the images of the demonstration. They concluded that the Mayans built their temples that way. Perhaps the Egyptians used a similar technique?"

The Cave Crusader appeared as a "Cave Man" from an old history magazine. He wore an outfit that probably belonged in a Flintstones show.

Crusader listened to the conversations and thought about bringing up strength but decided against it. Too dangerous.

Stuntman chuckled. "Perhaps the truth is that ancient aliens granting superstrength attached such men to kites and had them build the pyramids. Why not? I've literally fought servants of an actual Aztec god, so it would take a lot for me to just dismiss this."

"Pleasure meeting you, Cave Crusader. I suspect your specialized talents will come in handy for interior stone hallways, and I will be glad to have you around." He glanced around. "Anyhow, bonjour et au revoir, for now at least. I'm going to talk to Manuel and see if he knows something I should know."

He had to keep in mind that he was not Tex right now. It was tempting to get into character here. He did know that Manuel was not local - he was foreign, probably Moorish, based off the name.

Shade moved through the walls, planning to do as the Professor suggested. It would be easy enough to follow an already occurring tour and just stay in the walls and observe and listen via his shadow senses.

As the Professor prepares to leave, Blizzard asked, "Wasn't there an Egyptian Pharoah that those that followed him tried to erase? Could this obscuring be perhaps part of that effort or a similar one?

As he walks away, the professor responds over his shoulder. "Precisely. My discovery may be the first step in revealing that pharaoh."

Darryl tells the professor "sure, we'll take the tour, get the background. It ought to be a good sidebar, if you give me permission to publish. I'll check your assertions first, of course."

Doctor Manuel shows up as soon as the heroes get to the museum. He happily begins a private tour for the heroes. Nothing seems amiss as the doctor leads them through the displays. Till they reach a room with bronze weapons under glass on pedestals. Doctor Manuel says, “When they were led by the right leader, the Egyptians could be an awesome military force. But, no leader, no matter how skilled, could have saved the Egyptians from the fact that eventually meant the end of the might of their military…"
"The Egyptians had no iron reserves. Only the Hittites knew the secret of iron production. Therefore, the Egyptians could not furnish their troops with iron weapons as their Hittite rivals of this period could…"
Pointing to a row of bronze weapons inside a display case, the doctor continues, "As you can see here, the Egyptians used only bronze weapons. They only learned the making of bronze from the Hyksos, central Asian invaders who had conquered most of Egypt, ending the Middle Kingdom, with the New Kingdom beginning with the expulsion of these invaders. It was also from the Hyksos that the Egyptians learned of better bows, chariots and horses."
At this precise moment the bronze weapons transform into ones made of iron and Doctor Manuel continues speaking without apparently noticing anything. "So, once they had iron weapons, the ancient Egyptians became an almost unstoppable military force!"

Darryl points at the once-bronze weapons and says "iron weapons? Like those behind you? All right, which of you jokers did a transformation spell? And what does this little military history lesson have to do with the Professor's theory?"

Doctor Manuel says, "you must be mistaken. I've worked in this museum for over twenty years, and the weapons have always been made of iron. It's true that no one has ever discovered the source of the Egyptian iron, but the fact is that they DID have it."

Darryl takes the recorder on his phone (it's the easiest way for a reporter to keep notes) and replays the previous minute, where the Doctor himself discusses the weapons as being of bronze manufacture.

Stuntman noticed the change with a smile. "Relax, Darryl. The man's clearly -"

The smile abruptly left his face. "Correct. Um, Monsieur Starre. A word. And please continue the tour, Monsieur Manuel. I simply require Starre's photography skills around a prop. I want someone who knows how to make me look good."

He walked close to Darryl and whispered to him. "I insist. It is urgent."

Stuntman wanted to move out of earshot of Manuel. This situation might require some care, and he needed the man who believed he was the smartest in the room on his side. The powerless paparazzi might be capable of saving the day if he played his cards right... or he might send it out of control with the wrong words.

Darryl shuts off the phone recording and nods. He follows the Stuntman out of earshot and says "okay, that was odd. His memories were altered at the same time as the weapons. A transtemporal effect? Actions in the past affecting today's Reality?"

There was no direction, the change just happened.

"Well Doctor I appreciate the tour we all do, but you say the weapons were always iron? Just a minute before they were bronze and you were declaring the Egyptians had no steady supply of Iron and is why they lost the middle kingdom and the new kingdom came forth," Blizzard said, "But now you seem to have changed the entire story. Now do not think I doubt you. I've read comic books a long time and well I think what we might have here is someone is messing with time and we are seeing the ripples of it before our eyes. So let me ask you, what is the most powerful country in the world today?"

He did not like what he just caught from Wraith. "Merd-... inian line, we need to stay calm, and not panic him, or us. But we can't simply use evidence of the past. We need to walk him into our reality again. Gentle."
