Re: The Harmon Building

Nighthawk, who lifts her with ease, rockets towards the roof (Speed 6, 35m flight). As he clears the edge of the building, the morning sun falls upon him and his wings melt away, as well as most of his feathers, leaving him looking more like a man and less like a bird (although he has 25 PRE, so he's a good-looking man). As momentum carries him and his passenger over, he releases her to the roof below and attempts to mitigate any damage he might suffer from the tumble to the roof.

Rolled 9 using 3d6. Breakfall 14-.

Re: The Harmon Building

A flash of blue electricity and the 'whoosh' of air announces Goodguy's arrival. His seven foot frame silhouetted in the rising morning sun. He surveys the area and notices the other heroes are here.

"Who's you friend?" He asks Knockout as he walks over to the little area StreetDemon has prepared.

"Looks good," He says to the mage as he looks for a bench that would fit him. He rarely sits down when not at home. Finding a chair that both fits him and supports his weight is uncommon but he trust the brick benches immediately. "Nice touch."

He waits for the others to find a seat so they can begin making a plan.

Nighthawk hurries to the shade cast by the building housing the top of the stairwell. As he sinks into the shadows, his body becomes more muscular and robust, and wings sprout from his back. His hands extend into claws with opposable thumbs, and his eyes slide to the sides of his head as he takes on a more birdlike appearance. He says "pardon me. I'm Nighthawk. I cannot abide the sunlight, and I usually only manifest at night. But this was too important."

In an obviously trained manner, the blond bombshell landed and rolled onto the rooftop gracefully, and stood up brushing off the dirt and soot from her nude shoulders.

She smiled back at the tall guy  - the Goodguy - and stepped to him to join in the forming meeting.

"So, you're part of this too. Neat. Any sign of the Streetdemon?"

OOC: 14:27, Today: Knockout rolled 8 (with 2 body) using 3 with the Hero (Champions) system ((6, 1, 1)). Breakfall 13-.

"Friend?" Street Demon asks, turning to see the new arrivals.  On seeing Nighthawk, he immediately leaps to his feet, taking a fighting stance; oily black smoke streams off his clenched fists, which glow red-orange like the last embers of a dying fire.

"Damn!  Get up, Big G -- girl led the Vulture straight to us!"

"Oh -- so you not the Vulture?  You just some other bird-man muthableepa who just happened to show up to a private meeting of superheroes uninvited?"  Without taking his eyes off Nighthawk, Street Demon says, "Yo, Knockout -- you know this fool?  You vouch for him?"

Re: The Harmon Building

Goodguy looks at StreetDemon and doesn't share his alarm with the arrival of the new hero, but he does agree that it's strange that he should arrive alone. If Knockout didn't bring him then how did he find out?

Goodguy stands up and with a flash of blue electricity he's suddenly standing directly behind NightHawk putting the new hero in the middle, between StreetDemon and himself.

"I'm sure we're all here for the right reasons," Goodguy says looking at StreetDemon. "but it is a little strange you found us so quickly." His last comment is directed at NightHawk.

In reply to Goodguy (msg # 53):

Turning to the big man, Nighthawk explains "I was at the Harmon building, in my mortal form. I heard you speak of this meeting with my superior senses. And although I don't know where the Crusaders are, it's suspicious that they left town without telling Detective Broyko where they would be. I also have a suspicion of one of the next targets for the Crushers. I do not share many memories with my mortal form, but I do remember his theory."

Knockout:
Knockout smiles and shrugs her shoulders, with a disarming wink.

"I vouch for anyone, as long as they don't show bad tendencies. I'm the optimistic kind. What else can I say ?"

Street Demon mulls over GoodGuy and Knockout's approval of the new arrival's presence.  "Innocent until proven guilty, huh?" he says at last.  "A'ight -- but if this muthableepa tries to peck out somebody's liver, tha's on you..."

quote:
“Why don’t we all sit down and talk about our first move.”

"A'ight," Street Demon says, nodding his agreement.  "Just so y'all know, this circle we in is a dead zone -- anybody who's in it, can't be monitored or recorded electronically in any way.  Cameras, parabolic mics, even doppler or infrared -- it's all null and void as long as we stay inside.  I figure that makes this meeting private enough."  Street Demon neglects to mention the other function of the spell: that it prevents any electronic signal transmitted from within the circle from leaving, rendering wireless microphones and tracking devices useless -- if they'd guessed wrong and one of the others really was spying for the Crushers, it should prevent or at least slow the villains down from homing in on their location...

quote:
Nighthawk looks at StreetDemon, asking "can you reshape any of that stone to provide me with shade? I find that molting can be a distraction to a discussion."

Street Demon ignores NightHawk's request for shade for the moment.  He says, "Hold on -- if this 'mortal form' of yours is the one's who's doin' all the theorizin' and comparin' notes with the police, maybe he's the one we should be talkin' to.  We find out what he know, then bring you back so we can bring you up to speed and come up with a plan of attack..."

[PLAYER-PLAYER] A question directed to NightHawk's player -- Is NightHawk wearing clothes of any sort, or is he in the buff?  And if he is dressed, is it regular (and potentially recognizable) human civilian clothing, or something custom for his heroic ID (like how in the MCU, Bruce Banner seems to have taken to wearing his super-stretchy purple trunks under his clothes so he isn't free-ballin' when he Hulks out)? [/PLAYER-PLAYER]

Goodguy listens to StreetDemon’s explanation of his ‘security measures ‘ and suddenly speaks up, so if you can block signals can you detect them too? I mean all we know is TEACHER isn’t working. Can you cast some spell to see if there’s an outside signal messing with it?

Nighthawk glares at StreetDemon, with eyes from either side of his head."I prefer to keep my human self unknown. People do not tend to trust were-creatures, and I would not have him hunted because of me. You either can accept the information from me, or I try taking out the Crushers myself. If I'm wrong, then only I catch any trouble."

OOC: Nighthawk is like Walter Langowski/Sasquatch. He wears human clothing as a human, but when he transforms, no clothing is apparent. He has a feathered body, with added feathers around the midsection. His hands and feet end in claws, although the hands have opposable thumbs. He also has wings.

"We can worry about the Crusaders and their computer later," Street Demon says, waving off Knockout's questions.  "Wherever they are, they're grownups -- they can handle their own bidness.  And yeah, I could look to see if somebody's hackin' TEACHER; but right now our focus needs to be on the Crushers -- a lot of folks are counting on us to stop 'em, and ain't nobody else here to do it..."

A sudden breeze kicks up from within the circle; as the heroes watch, pollution from the surrounding air begins to coalesce and thicken, forming an impenetrably dark cloud that hovers a few meters over NightHawk, shielding him from the sun's rays.

"Now...how 'bout you share this theory that your 'mortal self' has about where the Crushers are gonna show up next...?" Street Demon says to NightHawk.

Goodguy looks down. His entire life smart people had dismissed his ideas and the feeling was familiar to him. He says nothing in return, only sits and listens to what plan the other come up with.

Just like in high-school he decided to listen to the quarterback. When the time comes he'll do what he does best and turn into the linebacker he was made to be.

[OOC] Street Demon would heartily endorse such a name change -- up until now he's actively avoided calling Lester by his codename because the name "Good Guy" reminds him of "that creepy-ass doll that runs around killin' folks in those movies" (i.e.; the "Child's Play" series)...[/OOC]

The birdman nods to StreetDemon, saying "thank you for the courtesy. The Crushers have been stealing hardware, mostly computer-related hardware. That suggests two things. One, that the Crushers are trying to Circumvent a particular computer, and don't have everything they need. Two, their targets manufacture high-end computer components. The next likely target is Manning Enterprises. The most likely reason is that the Crushers are trying to bypass TEACHER, and quickly. To overcome any other computer, it's likely they would be using Stealth and not leave a trail to follow. TEACHER, they'd need to get into quickly before the Crusaders showed up."

"Wait a minute," Street Demon says.  "That don't make no sense -- that reporter lady said the Crushers took off with trucks full of stuff!  If they got two heavy lifters like 'Buffalo Bill' and 'Million Dollar Baby', what they need a truck for?  Nigga could throw a cargo container over each shoulder, easy!  And why would they even need that much gear -- how much it take to crack one computer?  Plus, she said they demolished the place both times; if they just boostin' the gear, why bother to trash the building?  That sounds more personal to me..."

Street Demon mulls NightHawk's theory over a moment.  "Still, you might have a point -- if it is personal, Manning Enterprises might be a target.  He Manta-Man, and who got more bad blood with the Crushers than the Crusaders...?"

Street Demon gets up and walks over to Goodguy.  Putting one foot up on the bench, he leans in and says, "Shee-it -- I know you could take him, dawg!  But he ain't the one I'm worried about -- that nigga Temper's the real problem!  I'm bettin' he got some power to make people go berserk -- if we don't put him down first we could be fightin' each other AND the Crushers!"

"That's a good idea, Big G," Street Demon says.  "But I don't think we should put all our eggs in one basket -- that's why I chose this spot for us to meet!  Check it out..."

Street Demon straightens up and walks over to the edge of the dead zone.  "See the convention center next door?  Y'all can't see it, but it's a nexus for communications for the whole city -- got a cellular antenna built right into the frame, and high-speed Internet access for up to 5,000 simultaneous connections.  I got a spell to tap into all that shit!  Whatever place gonna get robbed next, if they got any kinda security, their system gonna dial the Five-Oh automatically, and they security camera feeds'll get uploaded to a secure server offsite.  I can be eyes in the sky from the rooftop over there -- if they show up at Manning, y'all radio me and I can be there in two minutes; and if I get a hit somewhere else, I'll send you the address and meet you there..."

"In the daylight, I can't do much. But at night I can fly myself and one other person to the top of Crusader's Citadel. I think my claws can cut almost anything, and we could get access to the Citadel where their jet leaves the building. The garage door to a house is usually a good way in, right? There might be clues inside the Citadel to where the Crusaders are. Who knows, maybe we can access TEACHER directly. It's an AI, so we can appeal to its directive to keep the city protected.. Maybe it will cooperate with new heroes." Nighthawk says. "As for Temper, if he is some sort of mind controller, my eyesight is vastly enhanced. "I agree with StreetDemon. These are all good plans with the exception of breaking into the Citadel. IT'S THE CITADEL GUYS! These are world class heroes and their place is bound to be heavily guarded. None of us are well know enough for TEACHER to overlook break and enter. I'm not worried about the Crusaders.
