Nighthawk reluctantly nods his head. "Fine. But there's nothing wrong with a flyby to make sure everything is kosher up there, right? So, are we splitting into groups of two? Me and someone else at Manning, a second group at this communications hub? At nights, I can reach supersonic speeds and can whisk myself and a partner anywhere in the city in under a minute."

"I'm good with any option. I don't move so fast by myself, so might be better I travel with you, Nighthawk. "

knockout stood up from the bench, her cheerful smile and positive attitude back on her face, as she started a serie of stretches and gestures, to wakeup herself.

Lester looks at the collection of heroes surrounding him. This morning they didn't even know each other and now they were making plane to try and stop a major crime wave in the city. If the Crushers were indeed involved it might be much more than that. He trusted this group for some unexplained reason and intended to do his part.

He remembers something his dad told him, "We don't choose the team we're drafted to but always give it your all wherever you end up.~ Lester intended to do just that.

"Sounds good then." He agrees. "We should choose a meeting spot."

The birdman asks "how do we contact you if the Crushers are hitting Manning?"

Nighthawk scratches his feathers. "I don't. And I do not know if my Other does. We cannot exactly communicate with one another."

Goodguy reaches into his back pocket and pulls out his phone. He looks at StreetDemon and Knockout.

"If either of you have a phone we should exchange numbers. If something goes wrong on either end we can text."

"Yo, I'mma be on the roof o' the convention center the next few nights, from 8 'til 4, doin' ma thang -- you need me, you find me there.  If the Crushers show up at Manning, just call or text any number and holla at me, and I'll come runnin' -- I hear it all with this spell I got brewin'!  Durin' the day, holla at me on Twitter -- tha's hashtag StreetDemon4Life!  In the meantime, y'all might think about gettin' one of these," Street Demon says, holding up his left arm to show what looks like a more elaborate version of the Apple Watch.  "Two-way communications on short wave, CB, TV, AM and FM, you name it!  You can pick 'em up at the Sharper Image, or direct from Dr. McQuark hisself on his website."

Street Demon stands up and turns to face the bench he was sitting on; with a wave of his hands the bench begins crumbling apart, and he directs the rubble through the air back towards the stairwell, where the pieces begin to fuse and re-form the wall there.  "I gotta put this all back where I found it -- I told y'all I ain't no vandal," he adds, winking at Knockout.  "I figure we got some time until tonight, if you wanna chase down any more leads about where the Crusaders went.  You also might wanna take some time to talk with your wingman," he adds, nodding to Goodguy, "find out what each other can do, maybe make up some basic tactics for when we find the Crushers..."

Before he can molt away too much, Nighthawk runs for the shadow cast by the stairwell building. He says "any practice we do must be away from sunlight. Perhaps...if someone can write a note, I can hold it in my hand when I transform to the Other. Thus he will be able to both get me a device such as you suggest, and call you with information he digs up on the Crusaders. I understand he is quite resourcedful."

"I'll head home after we touch base StreetDemon. While we're taking I'll 'mark' the convention center. I can 'mark' two separate locations and then teleport to them at will. Once I have this one I'll head over to warehouse and 'mark' that one. After that I'll be at home watching the news and waiting for a text from any of you. I'll be at either location in a second."

Making the assumption Knockout has a cell (though I have no idea where she keeps it and he isn't gonna ask.) Numbers will be exchanged before we separate.

"I don't carry a cell with me. But I can give you a number sure. As for meeting on a rooftop, it's not exactly handy or discreet for me. Anyway I'm good with this, as a temporary thing we all need to get throughout. I believe that each different approach we have during the investigation is as valuable as the others. So let's hit the street and see what we can find."

Nighthawk turns to Knockout. "From experience, it occurs to me that my Other retains clearer memories of my experiences than I do of his. Would you suggest a time and place I meet you prior to me flying us to Manning tonight? You should plan for investigative time, and my Other has such skills too." The birdman is eyeing the edge of the building, gauging how much time he has before he can reform his wings and bring himself and Knockout to a safe landing. Explaining to the others on the roof, he says"My powers are simple. I am as strong as an Olympic weightlifting and am very fast. My claws can cut through steel. My wings can let me hover while the winds they generate bowl most people over. I can also use them to attack groups of people thus." He flicks his wing at the rooftop and a line of black feathers fly out to impact the roof and stick there by the quills. Before they dissippate in the sunlight, Nighthawk explains "despite their ability to pierce most flesh, they do no lasting harm. But the magic in them is a shock to the system, and can hurt or knock out most normal men."

"Impressive" Lester responds to the demonstration.

He looks the group over and sees a wide range of abilities. He hopes it's enough.

"I'll see you all later. I'm heading over to the convention center now. You coming? Race ya'." He finishes his remark with a wink at StreetDemon, then with a flash of blue electricity, he's gone.

"Oh -- so it's like that, huh?" Street Demon says, finishing up with his masonry work just as Goodguy teleports away.  He makes for the edge of the building at a dead run, leaping off the roof with a graceful forward flip; anyone looking standing near the edge of the hotel can see Street Demon slowing his descent with jets of exhaust emitting from his hands until, light as smoke, he lands on the apex of the cellular antenna across the street.  Back on the hotel rooftop, the magic circle disappears in a crackle of static...

Nighthawk offers his hand to Knockout. "Shall we?  We dive off, I grow wings, and we land in safety.  You brought a car, correct? Is there some place you later wish to meet, either to practice or to fly to Manning? If so, what time?"

Street Demon paces about the rooftop, looking for the optimum spot to cast his next ritual...

Knockout steps to Nighthawk, so he can fly down the building with her.

"I thought we could go to Manning now. Except you have a better idea."

Nighthawk steps into sunlight and his features melt and change. He steps off the rooftop into the shadow of the building. His wings unfurl, and he sets them both gently on the street. He says to Knockout "shall we meet at the Flour Mill at about 7 pm? The robberies take place near midnight, and that will afford us a little time to learn some basic coordination tactics that we can practice before heading to Manning."

[PLAYER-GM] Okay -- I think I've managed to stat out the ritual Street Demon plans on using tonight to monitor the city for signs of the Crushers.  It comes in two parts: the first allows him, through concentration, to perceive radio and and data transmissions within his vicinity (bought as Clairsentience, to avoid the restriction on buying straight-up Special Senses with a VPP):

Signal Perception II:Clairsentience (Radio Group And Detect Data Transmissions), Discriminatory, Increased Arc Of Perception (360 Degrees), Rapid: x10, Targeting, Telescopic: +22 (59 Active Points); No Range (-1/2) Real Cost: 39  [Notes: With Telescopic Sense, Street Demon can sense every radio or data transmission within a 10-mile/16km radius at no penalty for range]

The second part is the actual ritual: by drawing another sort of magic circle on the convention center's rooftop, near the communications nexus of the cellular antenna and making use of the center's high-speed Internet access, Street Demon can vastly increase his own sensory perception -- allowing him to monitor up to 10 million signals simultaneously within a 10-mile radius with a PER Roll of 14-:

I think this should be sufficient for the heroes' purposes during the stakeout, and ought to be 100% legal according to the rules.  Let me know if you have any questions or problems with it.

I should also mention that, in addition to those two Powers, Street Demon can also keep the "Lightspeed Sprint" Power active at the same time, so he can rush off to join the other heroes at a moment's notice... [/PLAYER-GM]

As they make their plans and separate, no one notices when, five minutes later, Knockout's car swings back around enters a garage down the block. No one comes from the garage, afterward.
Time passes, it is now seven pm, what do you do?
