Rules and Expectations **Read First**

General Game Rules

* This should be a no brainer since we are all adults here, but be respectful This doesn't only apply to in character writing, but to out of character interactions as well. If you have a problem with another character in the game, bring it up to the GM or to that player in a PM, not in the OOC. That being said, be respectful there too. Disrespect to the GM or players will not be tolerated and will result in you being removed from the game. If in doubt - see Wheaton's Law.

Learn it, live it, love it.

* This is a free-form game. There is no rules system or dice rolling. This is not, however, a sandbox game. There is a plot. There will be posts from the GM, that being me, oh my players, to set up plot-points and keep things moving. That said there are sandbox elements but do not enter this game thinking that I'm going to introduce you and then forget about you. Ideally everyone will have some sort of individual plot in addition to the meta-plot.

* Don't metagame. In a short definition, metagaming is using knowledge known only to you as the player about a character that isn't yours and allowing that to influence your actions in character. An example would be changing how your character reacts to another due to your OOC feelings about that player. Another would be assuming that your character knows things about another just because you as the player read it in their profile. Its just unnecessary to do any of this and can ruin the roleplaying experience.

* This is another one that should be obvious, yet sometimes isn't. No god-modding. Basically, if your player is doing an action to another player, don't write the outcome of it. Example of god-modding: Tommy writes "Tommy punched Jordan in the face so hard that he fell to the ground, crying out in pain". To do this correctly Tommy would only write "Tommy attempted to punch Jordan in the face." That way, he isn't assuming anything about what Jordan is doing and give Jordan the chance to react how he wants. This does not apply to posts where you are running your own NPC in your character's post.

* Always get consent whether it is for sexual encounters or even just using your character's powers on another character. Always speak to the other player first in a PM. That said - this game is Adult rated for adult situations but this is not a sex game. The site has plenty of those so I would ask for a tasteful fade to black around the time such a thing would happen in a film certified 15 by the BBFC.

* Speaking on consent, this is an Mature rated game and as such, there will be scenes that include Mature topics and situations. If you have any questions about this, please reference RPol's Mature Game Policy found on the FAQs tab.

Consequences and Punishment

Violations of this game's rules will result in consequences for the player. The GM will utilize a 3 strike system in most cases, but this may be altered at the GM's discretion.

First Offense: Warning and chat with the GM.

Second Offense: Suspension (Group Z) Including another chat with the GM.

Third Offense: Removal from the game

I refer any questions back to Wheaton's Law.

Posting Expectations and Guidelines

While there aren't many rules here on posting, The following should be followed to make an enjoyable roleplaying experience for all of those involved.

* Always write in third-person past tense.

* Always add [To: ] and [From: ] tags anytime you are leaving or entering a thread.

* This is not a requirement, but it is preferred that players use coloured text to make any dialogue stand out in their posts. Along with this, please italicize any internal character thoughts that you include in your posts.

* Please make an effort to include at least 2-3 substantial paragraphs in your posts. This is not only considerate to other players in a scene with your character, but also allows for you to explore your own character more. If you are having trouble doing that think of including things such as what your character is think, doing, or feeling, not only what they are saying.

* One sentence posts will not be tolerated and will get you a message from the GM.

* Failure to follow posting rules outlined in this section will also result in warnings from the GM team. 3 such warnings will result in removal from the game.

* While there are no set rules on how often you need to post, please be considerate to the players that are in your scene. If you are a slow poster, let them know when the scene gets started. I try and post as often as possible but have my own days when I simply haven't the time or energy.

Absences

*
If you are going to be absent for longer than just a couple days and you are in a scene with another character, please make a post in the Absences thread or personally contact the player and inform them so that they have the option to move their character on if needed and aren't left wondering what happened. The GM however does understand that sometimes real life gets in the way without and you can't let people know beforehand. Don't ghost the game. People who vanish without a word are top of my list of pet-peeves and if you do it to me I will find you and hunt you down like Liam Neeson in Taken. I will find you.

See Wheaton's Law if you have any questions.
