David:
Since making the shot, David had seen no change to their scenery, but looking ahead, he saw the bridge and how it beckoned them towards their doom.
An idea occured to David to get to the farm, but that felt risky to David in these current circumstances, with limited time to test out a theory of shadow walking.
So instead, David tried to conjure the mental image of the cliff edge being pushed more and more into the distance, forging the bridge and making it into some cross-channel structure over a body of water.

-1 for rushing it thanks to bridge danger.
The sky turns light pink. The start of the bridge is suddenly much closer-- you're now driving on it.
But there's no longer a problem with running out of bridge. It just keeps going and going... Up, specifically. Whereas before there was a straight, level bridge ahead, now-- well, it's still straight, but now it angles up about 15 degrees.
David looks behind. Ralph's RV is still right behind. The raider's jeep is gone-- in fact, the spot where it was is different.
Behind the start of the bridge is endless savannah, with a single paved road leading toward the start of the bridge in a straight line.
Coming toward the bridge are thousands and thousands and thousands of large animals that look (from this distance anyway) like a cross between lions and hyenas.
Fortunately, when they get near the start of the bridge, they stop. They won't set foot on it.
While David was watching this, the bridge's incline slowly started leveling off... 10 degrees... 8... 5... Less. There seems to be an imperceptible rise now, but it's hard to be sure.
Also, the bridge has gotten wider. Two lanes wide, four, six, 10, 12, more. Less than 20, probably, but it's still quite wide.
The sides are rather low, though. There's a low wall of barely a foot in height, so it's good that the thing got wider.
The body of water below is some huge dark lake or ocean, steaming, probably right on the edge of boiling.
Shacks and huts of stone and brick start showing up to the sides of the bridge... You don't see any inhabitants yet, but all the doors are closed, so perhaps they're inside...
