Happy to pre roll could you set up another thread for recording rolls like that if we go down that path

I have seen it done that way but it looks like a bit of a bookkeeping mess to me.

The only objection I might raise is there's no real way of spending bennies on Notice rolls if you don't realize you're making them.

I'm with Kelly on this one.  It'd be hard to use Bennies on a roll you don't know you were making.
I can also see the benefits of speeding things along, especially in a PbP environment. Maybe Notice rolls should be handled by the GM and the player notified if they want to spend a Benny on the roll.

I don't really have an opinion on the matter, my self.

I know how I handle things in the games I personally run, but those are different games with different assumptions. In the games I run, I prefer to save rolls for when they're needed, and while I'll leave PCs in the dark about whether they noticed something or not, I'm fine with the Notice roll serving as a notice for the player that something is up. But I'm also more prone to running action-oriented games than ones where horror is a significant focus, so mileage varies.

I'm personally fine with not book-keeping, but thought I would try it out.  So, we'll just do a quick Lay-of-the-Land Notice roll in new areas.  If someone indicates more specific checking, we'll roll and spend Bennies at the time.

As for something to light the lamp with... Since currency is "small, tradeable items" the HoE rules let you, in a pinch, make a Smarts roll -2 vs. an Item's Scarcity Modifier.  Succeed and you have that thing in your goods.  Subtract the cost and its yours.

In this case....  say a box of matches.  Its Common, so a +2 Scarcity.  So, Smarts vs. 4 lets you turn $5 into said matches.

This situation counts as a pinch.

Also, I noticed everyone got quiet today.  It happens....or you were waiting on me.  You guys are in a relatively safe position for now and it seemed like the right opportunity for just playing it out a bit.  If no one is feeling it, that's cool, I'm sure the world can become pushy again.

I'm sure the roller will come back around.  Maybe?  Also, I tend to throw out bennies easily for neat ideas, entertaining posts, etc.  Entertain the Gods and they will bless you.  I know the roller sucks at times, so I want to be kinda free with the bennies.

Also!  When you are done with your action post, go ahead and draw a card and put it at the bottom of your post.  A little easier that way.

One more thing!  Martin can hear the fight (especially the gun) going on in the back.  Those in the back could have heard the crashing of the shelf crossing the room.  Sure, you have other things to attend to, but you can assume you know that both rooms have stuff going on.

To be fair, I did build Harry as a Combat Wombat...this is his wheelhouse, especially since none of his directives interfere with him putting the hurt on undead. In retrospect, I probably should have sprung for some night vision, too, but eh -- the data jack gives him utility outside just shooting or sawing things.

I think I should still have 4 Bennie's.  3 to start, +1fir the Luck Edge & +1 for the one I earned earlier.

Need to keep that updated in my bio line, I guess.
