Opening Scene - Kaboom

"Bring it in here," Preceptor calls out as two heavily built Bots carry on a large box. "Be careful. Be careful!" The two bring the box over and set it on a table.

"It broken already," Grimlock's deep and slow voice says to the scientist. "No be careful with broken things."

"Yes." Snarl says turning to Preceptor. "Broken."

"That's a maybe my friends, but it could give us some information and rough handling could change what we can see."

"Me Grimlock have Cons to smash. Have fun with your junk." With that the two Dinobots transform and lumber out with a pair of growls.

"Have fun my friends," he calls out. "Kaboom, please assist me if you will."

Opening Scene - Kaboom

Kaboom was slightly bopping her head as she worked at the far end of the lab a good distance away from where Perceptor was bringing in his equipment for examination and information gathering. She usually did her best to keep out of his way, and her own experiments rarely took up so much room, except for a wall full of chemical storage and her work desk. Transforming to her scope mode momentarily, she peered at a sample upon the desk with her long mircoscopic lenses. Once satisfied, she transformed back to her bot mode and leaned over her data padd to take a few notes, though the loud bang of sound that echoed in the laboratory drew her attention. She switched off her private music and turned around to see the two Dinobots all but drop their heavy load and grinned widely as she turned her full attention to them. She adored the Dinobots. They were like giant talking guard dogs. She often got irritable looks from the others for not only tolerating but actively encouraging their antics.

"Bye! Sock Dirge in the cockpit for me!" she called in her high, sing-song voice as the Dinobots lumbered out to chase the promised Cons, raising her hand and waving to them. Even if they did not respond, it didn't bother or deter her.

"Hmm?" She turned her attention to Perceptor as he called her name, and immediately came forward. "Of course," she said cheerfully as she came around to the other side of the box to peer inside. She had to admit, Grimlock had a point. It did look a bit like junk. But she was also aware that junk could hold a lot of useful information if... properly persuaded to give up its secrets. "What is it?" she asked with interest as she reaches in to pick up a manageable piece and examine it. "Did Cyclonus run into another canyon wall?" She grinned at her own joke.

Snarl does return a nod of his tiny head which causes the metal plates running up his back to sway from the movement  before they fully leave. Grimlock is way to proud to acknowledge anyone not in a leadership role and even then that isn't guaranteed.

"Springer and another Autobot by the name of Roughstrike recently discovered a Minicon on Cybertron." The piece she's holding she suddenly identifies as part of a robotic body given the new information. "The poor thing has taken some damage and appears quite old." Preceptor removes an arm that was sperated, by what means is difficult to tell. "Perhaps you can analyse a sample of it and determine how long it's been deactivated while I try to identify the poor chap?"

Opening Scene - Kaboom

Kaboom's jaunty expression faded quickly, and she looked back down at the bot's foot and ankle she held in her. "Really?" she asked. "That is way less funny than Cyclonus running into a canyon wall... Some damage? Yes, I'd certainly say so." She fished around until she found the head of the unfortunate creature, rolling it around slightly to find a data interface. "Yeah, sure thing. I'll try and see if I can't read his internal chronometer and tell when it stopped. That should at least give us some kind of time frame." She took the head to Perceptor's desk and computer console, taking an interface cord and beginning to run data to try and see if she could find the internal chronometer, and hopefully still be able to read it. "

19:42, Today: Kaboom rolled 6 using 1d10 with rolls of 6.  Data. Success.

Opening Scene - Kaboom

Getting into the Minicon's system proves challenging. The degradation of the metal mixed with several breaks in the connectors that supply power to it's systems cause a fair amount of splicing, repair work, and jumping power into the weakened subsystems without frying everything completely. After what feels like a frustratingly long time, Kaboom is finally able to get a general time frame though it's incomplete. It appears that the creature was created a few hundred years after the Arc left Cybertron and it's destruction wasn't long after. Whoever it was, it had a very short life.

Preceptor cries out, "Blast!" in frustration as a puff of smoke curls out of the section he is working on. "The Cybertronian cells are to degraded to get a positive ID, neither does it's unique structure match any known Minicon. Did you find out anything of use?"

Don't forget to introduce yourself in your HQ thread.

Opening Scene - Kaboom

Kaboom looked up, slightly alarmed at the uncharacteristic shout and the puff of acrid smoke that drifted up from the table and the poor pieces of mech being worked on there. Once she leaned why he was upset, she gave him a look of condolence, and looked down at the head on her work space, her interface port still plugged in. "Luckily yes," she said. "According to his data logs, this poor little guy was made over three million years ago, a few centuries before the Ark left Cybertron. But it was destroyed very shortly after. Didn't live too long at all." She cocked her head slightly, confused. Who'd commission a minicon so unique, then just abandon it to die? Even if it had been this badly damaged at the end, the internal components looked mostly intact. It could have been put back together easily enough at the time of its destruction, or at least it was likely. "I can see if its memory banks are accessible. Maybe that will tell us more about who he was and where he came from."

Opening Scene - Kaboom

"Please do," Preceptor says as he moves the remains back into the box. "Perhaps the location he was found in will give us a clue."

He moves over to a console and begins tonight his fingers over the keys. "Ah. Says here that that particular district has a lab that was abandoned because of illegal experiments. Whomever this was might have been such an experiment. It might have even been one of the first Minicons. The area was shortly turned into a battle ground and this being must have been caught in the fallout over the millennia."

Try as Kaboom might, the information stored inside the tiny body is to miniscule to really get any concrete information. The only data track she's able to retrieve only shows a few seconds of movement, but no sound. The video is only seconds with only once does she get a complete picture of Shockwave's face.

Opening Scene - Kaboom

Kaboom was more patient than Perceptor, despite her name suggesting otherwise, and worked slow and tediously, picking through the fragmented data and files for anything, any scrap of information that might clue them in to where this little bot had come from, or what had happened to him. She chewed slightly at her lower lip as she picked over the data fragments like broken glass, until finally she found a tiny piece just big enough to read.

Her face grew dark and sour instantly. Shockwave. She shouldn't have been overly surprised. She hated the Decepticons like any Autobot loyalist, but harbored a great deal of particular disgust and disdain toward the 'scientist' and his obscene excuse for experimentation. His lack of ethics and value of life only made the whole thing that much worse.

She reached over and plugged another inteface cord into the monitor of the console and relayed the video information to it. It was terribly grainy and some flickers were distorted, but Kaboom managed to still frame on the clearest shot she had seen in the few seconds of video provided. Despite the grain and static surrounding the image, it was unmistakable.

"Shockwave," she said darkly, not sounding slightly surprised. "Knowing this sicko and where the mini was found, I'd bet my scope he had something to do with our little friend's creation. Or death. Or both, they were so close in time frame."
