Out of Character Discussion
I'm a little torn about what Milla's free acquisition should be. On the one hand, I was thinking of a tricked-out guncutter. On the other, I was thinking about an Eldar flipbelt as a souvenir from a battle (and it would also tie into her Origin Path).

As the group's resident space-phone, I was thinking about ringtones. How about this; https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=uzgBD2wysuI

The boring-but-practical one would be an MIU cybernetic, but a flip-belt has a lot of potential for cool stunts.

Good choice (Faithless is such a great group), but this is my go-to music for Rogue Trader:

Oh god, that film makes me want to claw my overly-woke eyes out. Cool music though! Given Marius' varying affections for High Ecclesiarchal music and Pound beats, I guess his chosen ring-tone will vary depending on the occasion.

I'm content to let you guys sort out a few things on your own, but after work tomorrow now that I'm done grappling with General Winter, I'll be introducing your Dynasty and your Rogue Trader.

That one I like. Definitely going to try to work it into the game somehow...

I don't think I've ever written a blind character before. Actually, scratch that, I did once years ago in a game of Exalted - but I was younger then, less used to writing.

This'll be interesting.

In reply to Marius il'Dilmun (msg # 13):

I believe most psykers and astropaths can, in fact, see in the broadest sense of the term - but they do so through the psyker gift. This may mean they can perceive the area and the movements of people, but not distinguish colours or textures. Alternatively, they might perceive movements as shifts in colour, changes in texture, or truly out there ways of seeing things - the psyker gift manifests uniquely in most individuals, after all.

Astropaths can still see without their eyes, it's their Character Ability.

Re: Out of Character Discussion
Well yeah, I know they can - but I see it more as a case of having a sense of things. Being aware of where people are, of the space around them and the people around them - 'seeing' through the eyes of others like echolocation. Knowing what's around them, through supernatural awareness.

He knows that his jacket is debonair. He knows the impression it has on people and that it's striking. He can tell you that it's a shimmering, cherry red colour. In certain lights, almost the colour of blood.

But he's never actually seen it.

But colour? Marius would know that a painting were a painting, but he wouldn't be able to appreciate the actual artistry. He'd know a book was a book, but he wouldn't be able to read the letters.

He sees the Warp, people moving around like throbbing sources of light - the warp seeping into old stones and marking the passage of souls around it. A reflection of the city in the Warp, if not the city itself.

The loss of the eyes, of sight, is like a sacrifice that comes with the gain of the Emperor's Soul Bond. The last thing they see is the Emperor on the Golden Throne, then they don't see ever again. There's something powerful in that.

Unless he gets bionic eyes, I guess.

Is my interpretation OK?

Re: Out of Character Discussion
Original plan was to write up the Dynasty's history and introduce your Rogue Trader tonight, but I found myself getting word from the bossman that I might be getting called in tomorrow morning for a long shift.  If I don't get called in, I'll likely post that in the quiet hours tonight, if I do, probably not until late the next evening.

In reply to Marius il'Dilmun (msg # 16):

So long as it's still bound by direct line of sight and behaves like sight, there's room for the Witness of Dusk (Navis Primer 80-81) to exist as written.

quote:
An Astropath Transcendent is functionally treated as if he can see normally (including seeing colours and being limited by walls, etc.). However, Astropaths Transcendent are not affected by effects that target their vision, such as blind grenades and cameleoline.

Unfortunately, my current work schedule precludes any real planning for games, and I'll have to shutter this.

Sorry for the disappointment everyone.
