The Mission - The Party has accepted an assignment from the North Shire Guild.  Humans have been coming down the main road, and causing all manner of trouble.  At the moment, most of their efforts have been a skirmish to test the Misty Valley inhabitants strength and resolve.

They have... so far avoided trouble, leaving the worst of the probing attacks to the North Shire militia to deal with.  Instead they've been tracking a party of humans that have been traveling off the Main Highway west to the field of the fallen.  A vast area of land with many graves individual and mass from countless battles that were fought on it from ages past.

Flutterdew has flown ahead, and observed that they have made camp, and seem to be preparing for some sort of ritual or rite or some such.  She counted perhaps twenty or so humans in the clearing.

The party has 'snuck up' on the Humans, and will get to 'ambush' them in the surprise phase

Surprise in my campaign provides one side to ambush a surprised party.  The Ambushers are allowed one standard action (not a full action).  This means they may take a move action for better position, or take a 5' step and then standard action, Take a movement action and charge into combat.  Obviously the surprised party (unless they have detected the party) will not be able to act during the surprise phase and will be 'flat footed'.

Initiative in my campaign is simplified to work in the RPOL forum.

I provide the encounter with a Initiative DC, that the character will roll once against.  If the character wins, they will have the option to go before the 'monsters'.  The Monsters will then all get a chance to act.  After this, it goes back and forth between the entire party acting, and the monster acting.

Special Notes ...

Trying to keep this first fight 'simple' so no pets will be used in this combat.

Flutterdew, because of her size and stealth, will be able to deploy 'forward' of the set up area 30' before combat.

Brigitte, because of her size, wont be able to sneak up to the set up area without giving away the party's presence.  She however does notice that some of the head stones here and there might make for handy ammo to hurl.

Daubra, If Daubra decides to, she may cast Magic Stone on these head stones for Brigitte providing +1 Attack/Damage to them when they are eventually flung.  She may also gather the party for a Bless to provide +1 Attack.

Map being generated and will be posted later today or tomorrow.

Currently... The party is huddled down around Flutterdew, who has just returned from her quick look over the next row of Mausoleums.  This area of the field seems to have a more orderly burial arrangement, and marked graves and Mausoleums seem to be the rule instead of the exception.

/games/72965/misc/gamemap.jpg?1547501917

Brigitte may start off in the red area.  A~E / 1~2

The rest of the characters may start off in the areas marked in green.   A~I / 1~5

Further more, characters may travel 5' for every bonus modifier they have for Stealth (keep in mind armor check penalties for armor)

There is NO STACKING.  So no more than one character may start from any particular location.

It's a 10' climb up the side of the Mausoleum if you want to get on top of them, or over them.

The Mausoleums are made of stone.

There are 'thugs' (Leather/large wood shields/spear) around the edge of the human camp.

Near the center, are a few 'cultist' Quarterstaves, talking to what might be a 'party' of humans.  Also in this party are two men armed with shortbows.

The party is free to roleplay how among themselves preparations before the fight in character, or ask things out of charter in the OOC thread to discuss things person to person.

Boy there sure are a lot of these humans  do you think we can manage to win this?

I might suggest that i try to put up some mist and give some concealment which might direct their movement and provide some protection from arrows.

The young Taur had been wearing armor since their adventure started and it was obvious she was still a bit unused to the studded leather. Normally she didn't wear armor, honestly she preferred that, but her family had put their hooves down on skipping out on armor. The Machete on her back had gone untouched the entire journey here as well. She was obviously out of her depth, even having managed to snag the small little spikes on her bracers on her bag several times. It had only gotten worse as they approached not just a group of humans, but a group of humans preparing for a ritual. Fear was obvious but so was a small amount of anger as her hands clenched tightly into fists. Glad her horns had grown in black unlike white like some, the usually cheerful Taur crept slightly ahead.

"I... do we have a choice? I'd rather run but humans in the valley are bad enough, let alone performing rituals. There's no one else here to stop them either."

Maybelle would certainly prefer to just leave, but she was far too stubborn to walk away now that she was involved. Her head dipped forward lightly, not just a nervous gesture but a baring of horns in a slight sign of aggression.

"Do you think we can lure the guards away in small groups while they perform the ritual? I dunno much about magic but aren't they easily disturbed? Maybe have someone ready to mess it up while we take down the guards?"

Maybelle wasn't good with magic, she had tried learning some when younger since druids where highly prized in her community but honestly it just gave her a headache. She had seen rituals performed, usually to help grow crops, and had been told often enough not to interfere. Interference could only help here, right?

Nisor had kept to himself, largely because he was miserable under the light of the sun that they had to travel in to reach the graveyard. All the same when they reached the destination and he was able to find some reprieve under the shade of a mausoleum he was decidedly more useful.

"I am sure we could interfere with the ritual. We only need to break the concentration of the mages performing it. As for what the ritual is I fear that their chose of location points to the raising of the undead. That said I'll likely not be able to tell until we get closer."

He shielded his eyes from the sun with his hand, hoping it would allow him to regain a degree of focus.

"That said I'm a fairly novice wizard so my spells are quite constrained in their utility. I can augment a fighter with better armor and give a fighter better defense from harm should I enemies be evil."

OOC: Starting with the upper left corner of my portrait at D1. I have a negative stealth modifier (go figure) so can only move backwards :-)

Brigitte crouched down in a squat, which brought her down to being not much taller than Maybelle. She watched, unsure of what to do.

She picked up and hefted a few stones to ready them to hurl if needed, stashing a couple away in a big pouch. She whispered to anyone who was close enough to hear her, "I can throw some of these rocks at them, but not if I can't see them through a mist.  But it'd be good to know what they are up to first. Smashing them with rocks from a distance when we don't know what they are doing here doesn't seem very sportsmanlike."

Brigitte has a negative stealth, so she cant 'move' forward any.  But she can certain stand still in the starting area for her, which is red.  Using her Upper left hand corner as a guide, she can get to D-1, and pretty much claim all four boxes she's in unless Flutter wants to sit on your shoulder or something.

Andrew can start anywhere that's green.  So he can start in I5.

You only have a Standard Action though, so you can only 'charge' 30' (not 60')

From I5 the guy in O5 is 30' away, so you can charge him with 30' of movement.

Andrew had traveled along with the group.
He was at home in the wilds and seemed to know a lot about land around him.
He seemed happy to talk to anybody in group.
Well more he start talking and if other person was not careful they find themselves telling him load of stories.  He seemed willing to listen.

One thing that was little unsettle is about an hour before sundown he just run off.
For no reason.  He then return about an hour after sunset.
He would come back out of breath and little sweetly.
Wash himself using his magic and lay down to bed.

As they get close to the camp and find out it humans.
Humans up to no good again.  We used to dealing with them.
They our one of our favorite creatures to deal with when comes to protecting the land.

He also studies what the humans are up to try to learn more about the ritual.

OOC:
Start at I5 or (or G5 as I have move of 40).
I will charge the first human.
22:17, Today: Andrew Turner rolled 18 using 1d20+4.  Spellcraft (+2 if add favored enemy.

Daubra, this falls under 'preparation', presumed to happen before the swords and spells start swining and will not consume your Surprise Action.

Andrew creeps up and leans against the wall and leans closer, sharp ears perked towards the murmer of chanting and makes and effort to discern what exactly is happening.

Humans.  Stupid humans.  We looked at what they are doing.
The ritual they are doing is a summing spell.  Not nature summoning spell at that.
I am not sure if it will be undead or something from another plain, but what ever it is can only be bad for everybody.  We need stop this and stop it now.  I don't think they will be interested in talking to us or will agree to leave.  We going have take them down.

As part of preparation, Gar slung his shield over his back so as not to interfere with his movements. With a Stealth of +5 (after ACP) he is able to stealthily move from I6 to J10. With natural climbing and Acrobatics +5 he is able to scale the crypt beside him and leap to the adjoining roof. From that rooftop he listens and prepares to charge towards the group surrounding S11.

Preparation Phase.

Abyss Flutterdew has a quick discussion with the party and states her intentions and flit out to get into position after receiving Daubra's Blessings.

Andrew stays low to the ground and moves forward quietly listening to the sounds of human chanting.  His ears are perked forwards a little to listen carefully.

Brigitte finds are few good sized rocks.  Perfect for lobbing over the 'short' building to land on a few squishy humans.  It wouldnt be hard for her climb one of these short buildings to get to the roof at all, though doing so would give her a good view of things, would also give everything a good view of her.  She has (3) rocks (small sized 2d6+6 damage) stacked near her at the moment, and has pocketed a few nicer sized peebles (softball sized, d4+6 damage) that are easy to carry around and hurl as needed.

Daubra calls upon the earth divinity, blessing her companions in their mission to expel these filthy humans from the Misty Valley.

Gar advances are far forward as he can safely move before pausing to wait.  A glance over his shoulder shows the rest of the party moving into position which was good he couldnt wait to spring forth and stomp some humans.

Maybelle went forward, pausing a little to make certain she wasn't alone.  Flutterdew had indicated there were a lot of humans out there, but they were spread out and they had the element of surprise on their side, certainly that counted for something didn't it?

Nisor moves forward, a glare of sunlight catching him in the face breaking his concentration as he tries to listen in on what the Cultist are doing.

The world was spinning, and Victoria suffers disorienting Vertigo on a scale she couldnt imagine possible.  When the world finally decides to stop spinning, the abrupt halting of motion and feel of firm ground beneath her feet is too much for her, and she feels her knees buckling.  Firm hands keep her from taking a nasty spill.

She's having the mother of all hangovers at the moment, and feels the uncomfortable sensation of her tummy heaving and with a shudder of shame she empties the contents of her tummy to spill out on the dirt floor.

What was it that she was doing again?  She was having a conversation with someone, wasn't she?  That was the last thing she vaguely recalled before the world went inside out.  What was it that they said?

Be careful what you wish for?  Wanting was much more fun than having?  What the hell did that mean?

There was a miserable groan, and it took her a moment to realize that it was her making that noise.  A blurry look about finds that she's surrounded by acolytes of some sort?  They were all dressed alike though not in clothing she had ever seen before.

She really needed to get herself together to act in a manner befitting her station.

Victoria is located in currently in S-11, and is 'incapacitated' and helpless from summoning sickness.  She needs to make a Fortitude or Willpower save throw to improve her state to 'staggered.'

Surprise Phase ...

Flutterdew starts to work her magic and smoke starts to billow out from her, quickly enveloping the area around her in a thick for providing some cover for those that follow.

Flutterdew - Std Action, Cast Obscuring Mist.

Andrew, Seemingly on some unspoken signal, the party springs forward to act.  You're moving along at a running charge, and you're upon your target (O-5) before he even notices you.  Arms outstretched, claws extended, it's time to get dirty.  You notice he starts to turn around, you must have been noisy in your charge not that it matters now, his eyes wide in horror as he sees death charging towards him a cry of alarm is made.

O-5 is caught flat footed and only has his Leather Armor to help him stay alive.  Armor Class 12.

Brigitte notices the others have sprung into action and decides it's time to get into the fun too.  Standing up she notices the three humans east as the most notable and easy to deal with.

Brigitte you may take a 5' step and hurl your rock (standard action) at one of the humans east of you Q-4 or Q-6 would be best.  O-5 is in combat with Andrew and you dont want to inflict collateral damage.

Daubra, you've cast Bless on the Party to prepare for the coming struggle, and hope that's enough but it probably wont be.  Time to get busy.

Daubra has a Standard action, since i've already ruled that her Bless was cast the previous turn as a prep. spell.

Gar Moves forward to get himself into position (It takes all his stealth to get to I-10, so he doesnt get to climb the wall just yet).  As he's about to climb the wall he hears a cry of alarm go up, and a thick fog starts to envelope him, someone (from Gar's point of view) was jumping the gun, and he needed to decide if he was still going to climb to attack from above or just charge into them and start swinging away.

Gar has NOT climbed the wall, and my take a STANDARD ACTION (not full round action) from where he is.

Maybelle Maybelle sees everyone get busy in a hurry.  They were always in a hurry, more action and less talk it seemed.  Andrew was a blur as he passed and the cry of terror that followed shortly hinted that it was time to get busy or stay lazy.

Maybelle may take a standard action from where she is.

Nisor Nisor blinks, irritated that they had all decided to tromp out in the middle of the day, which was immensely inconvenient to him.  It was so bad, he could barely make out what the cultist were saying, what was that they were going on about...?  Summon a Fairy God Mother?  The Dark One's Avatar?  The Loonie Moonies?  None of it made sense and then they were all dashing forward again to... kill stuff.  Meh.  He knew from first hand experience that dead was over rated.

Nisor you may take a standard action.

"Oh Gaea, they're summoning more humans? Not good... "

Maybelle was horrified that of all things they where bringing through the ritual it was more humans. Was this an invasion? Summoning an Army? Albeit.... She had to admit, something else bothered her. Primarily the fact they where out in the wilderness and summoning a woman into a group of men. She hated humans but that seemed off to her and put her even more on edge.

As people started to move she realized she could worry about it later, the men where definitely 'bad'. Or at least invaders and summoning more humans. Either way she wouldn't hold back. Honestly she was fairly annoyed they where here in the first place, Humans had so much land. Why couldn't they stay on it? Almost stomping forward her cheerful eyes dulled slightly as she gave a quiet snort of anger.

"Guess I'll go back up Gar?"

Enter the Princess ...

Victoria was clearly not having a good day...

Although dressed very well in what could be described as expensive traveling clothing, she was anything but well as she hung helpless from the hands holding her. Her mind whirled with confusion and she struggled to do anything at all. Well, at least she wasn't getting sick again.

Moaning softly, she closed her eyes, trying to shake the weakness and utter helplessness she felt. Truly, it would not do for her to be sick again!

"Help?" she whispered.

Surprise Phase Resolution.

Flutterdew - Has just cast Obscuring Mist as her action, and wont be able to fly up till after the surprise resolution.

Andrew - has activated his armor to improve his armor class by 2.  I believe i am waiting on an attack roll for his charge attack?

Brigitte - lobs a tombstone a few dozen yards out and watches at it lands on a surprised human, marking his final resting place a moment later as the heavy weight crushes his head where he stands leaving quite a mess behind in the process.  Human Q4 is convincingly dead.

Daubra - Shuffles herself East, to keep up with the action as it becomes apparent the direction everyone is headed.

Gar - Hefts himself up over the wall, making use of growing vines, and cracks in the wall, for finger and toe holds that few others could do.  With the help of obscuring mist he's in place without a problem... though everything is foggy at the moment, and he's having a little bit of trouble judging who is where to attack from this point means he needs to leap into the fray, and not being able to see where he's landing is going to be troublesome.  Gar has Concealment from the Obscuring Mist, but it goes both ways, and everyone you might leap/charge upon, also has concealment.

Maybelle - Your position was updated to where you wanted to start H-2, per message #9.  I'm going to presume you want to come down 'south' to end in H-8 (?)  As Maybelle jog along south, she notices the obscuring mist Flutterdew is making.  Gar is entering the mist, and she can just make his obscured figure climbing up and onto the short building beside him.  As he moves deeper into the Mist, she loses track of him.

Nisor - walks along at a patient pace, really there was no reason to rush into the maws of death was there?  He works a little spell to help things along (You may cast Mage Armor during the prep phase, allowing you to move, or cast a different spell, for your surprise phase action.).

Victoria makes and effort to stand and recover some of her wounded dignity.  Her effort needs to be worked on, the sudden effort seems to go straight to her head, and she's pretty close to a swoon, as the sky seems to spin dizzily.

Human O-5 ~ Eyes wide he watching Andrew bare down on him, his eyes flick to the sharp claws on his hands and realize these might be the last moments of his life.  He makes a cry of alarm that was suppose to be a cry along the lines of, 'Help, SOMEONE HELP ME!', but it comes out more along the lines of  "GAH~!".  This target is wearing leather armor, and small wooden shield (AC 13).  He has (7) Hit Points.  He is armed with Spear and Dagger.

Human Q-4 ~ At the alarmed cry of his companion, this man starts to turn around to see what the commotion is.  Distracted by the spectacle before him, he almost doesn't notice the shadow that seems to be blotting out the afternoon son decending upon him.  He has the sense at the last moment to look up, and perhaps half an instant to wonder what was happening, then... he stops wondering.  His headless body flopping over obediently before the tombstone that was just planted to mark his final resting place.

The rest of the Humans seem to have been alerted that something was amiss.

The cry of alarm, A headless body flopping over, the magical fog creeping forth from the west.  Really, you'd have to be a clueless idiot to miss all the signs that you were under attack.

The argument/debate over Victoria's appearance seems to have stopped.  In the face of their mortal end rushing towards them, more important things were around to consider.  The ugly human near the cultist (S-13) seems to be yelling orders out to snap the rest of the humans out of their stunned shock and into some sort of organized defense.

Initiative DC 14

All players make an inititiative Roll, if you roll 14 or better, you may act against on turn one before the Humans go.  If you fail, you will have to wait till after the humans go before acting.  You however are allowed to make dialogue, and comments.  You just have no actions.

"Guess you got a point there 'belle," Brigitte agreed as she strode off to join the fight. Her long legs carried her quickly to the South. Having softened up the left flank, it seemed like a good idea to shore up the right and sweep into the humans that way. She hoped Andrew could handle himself with two.

Once she'd moved on down, she planted her feet and dropped into a battle stance, ready to greet anyone who came close. She smiled at the three men just south of the mist and gave a little wave. "Hey boys. Wanna dance?"

Double move to G12, draw large great axe as part of her move. Swift action somewhere in there to activate her cloak to grant herself benefits of a shield spell for 1 minute. (+4 shield bonus to AC, immunity to magic missile)

No do not pre roll them, i dont want to know the results, since that might influence my actions.  If you get attacks of opportunity, you'll get them after i declare the intentions for humans.  The humans will move in, you take your attacks if that's the case and then if they survive they'll do what they do.

Sister Daubra was uncharacteristically quick on her feet today and dropped into a familiar square stance low wide and a stable with her back to the mausoleum. With a strong snap she shifted into bow stance facing south and she pressed her hands into the mausoleum and shoved the solid stone like putty in her hands. She sent bars of solid stone to connect with the next mausoleum and climbed the gaps she'd left behind like a ladder to get to the relative safety of the roof.

Standard action: using Stone Shape
Move action: moving

Stone shape: to create about 9x 3"-diameter 20-ft stone bars to connect with the next mausoleum. This should space them about a foot apart which won't be hard to climb but it should at least slow anyone coming that way down.

Moving: to J-6 She took the -5 for accelerated climbing, and climbing a ladder is DC 0 so she made it with or without taking 10 being allowed from her position of relative safety.

As Daubra shapes the stone sideways north, the passage between I4~J4 and I5~J5 quick becomes barred, stone is displaced before her, creating an opening into the building at I6~J6.

She has her hand on the bars ladder ready to climb up to the roof, when she notices something.

Daubra has already used a standard action to Stone Shape, she has a movement left which she can use to still get to the roof, or change directions based on the information she has.

You're talking about like thin cracks or window slits at I6=J6 right? Wasn't intending to open a door there. 3" out of every 12" should means even if the walls are a surprising thin, like 3" there should be a 9" stone slab every 12" blocking the way. Making it mostly wall. Also, Brigette probably should NOT jump up and down on it. Apparently google thinks 6-8" is normal but older, cheaper, eroded by the years, maybe missing a chuck somewhere. Window seem plausible.

Turn One Player Phase.

Andrew finds that the human is not without some skill.  He manages to sidestep his initial charge (from ambush) which only serves to infuriate Andrew more.  His backhanded rake catches the man across the face and neck.  Blood starts to gush out readily as a major artery is cut.  The man drops his spear and paws at the wound trying to stem the bleeding, but it's too little too last as he drops to his knees and flops forward face down.  Passed out from blood loss, he'll bleed out long before anyone can get to him.

He notices that Flutterdew's Obscuring mist is providing him with some cover, so he makes use of it.  Moving forward (to P6) he prepares to dispatch the last of the three humans in the area.  They were so squishy, really it was a wonder that they were a threat to the Misty Valley.  From behind him, he hears Daubra yelling some comment or warning but about what, he wasn't sure.  After he got rid of this last thug, he would give it more thought, for the moment, he needed to focus on obliterating this human from his presence.

Brigitte
in the mean time has little doubt that Andrew can handle himself, and really if he couldnt what was the worse that would happen?  They would tickle him with those toys.  Speaking of which, Brigitte had sighted a bunch of humans south of their position.  Maybelle was headed there, but really, she was a little small for the job.  Now Brigitte, she was the perfect size.  The humans were small... The humans were squishy.  It was their finest quality next to how tasty they were.

Brigitte jogs down to G12, getting her Great Axe ready to whack some humans as she goes.

Daubra is barring the path between the two mausoleums, making a ladder for herself as she does.  She notices movement in the masoleum and calls out a warning to Andrew hoping he heard her.  She makes it to the top of the roof and finds Flutterdew's obscuring mist covering much of her vision to the South East.

Victoria starts to feel better, at least enough to stand... maybe.  She still feels terrible but the sense of Virago is at least receding.  Let me know if Victoria understand German.  I dont believe she does.

NW Sentries
With two of his companions killed in the span of a breath, the last sentry is torn between turning his back on Andrew and fleeing, or standing his ground and facing near certain death.  He however notices what Andrew does not, a swirl of movement behind Andrew, so he stands his ground and hopes for the best.  He bides his time for a moment, just long enough for Andrew to sense he's been flanked, and then the sentry lunges with his spear.  It's a brilliant lunge, maybe the best he's ever made, it's amazing what desperation can do for motivation.

Behind Andrew, seeing the violent motions of shadows bluring past him and the cries of men dying, the Rogue that was hiding in the Mausoleum makes his move and comes out behind Andrew.  Dagger in hand, he moves in to flank the furry warrior.  The moment of confusion is priceless to the Rogue who lunges forward to try and skewer the Werewolf between him and the sentry.

Hurl Spears at Brigitte.

Mean while...

Further south, the sentries are confronted by a Frost Giant.  There is a long moment of hesistation as they consider if they should rush her.

"F--k that."  Yell sentry (K-13).  He wasn't being paid enough coin to rush that.

With that he hurls his spear at Brigitte and quickly retreats east, drawing his dagger as he goes.  The remaining sentries look at one another and almost immediately in silent agreement, hurl their spears and beat a quick retreat East after the other sentry.

21:59, Today: Fate rolled 14,5 using d20+2,d8+1.  Attack Brigitte. (Miss)

Brigitte takes 4 Damage

The first couple of spears deflect off her shield and the other doesnt come anywhere near her.  Last comes in off an angle odd enough to avoid the spear, and catches her in the thigh doing some bleeding.  She watches as the cowardly humans flee into the mist.

Victoria seems to be caught between a lively discussion over... her?

The big guy seems to be directing and organizing a defense.  We're they being attacked?  Was it over her?  It was hard to tell.  He seems to be directing his archers to help deal with the Giant, and is waving the East Sentries over towards the wolf guy.

Wolf Guy!  Definitely she was under attack.  She fumbles around trying to reach her Rapier or Aeron's flintlock but the grips that were holding her up she realizes were also restraining her.  Were they being helpful or possessive, it was hard to say.

Some of the humans make and effort to deal with the wolf and giant, others are still arguing over Victoria.  As things seem to go from bad to worse, two of the guys take her by the arm each and lift her off the ground and start to carry her off literally SE.

The Guy giving orders is having none of that and blocks their departure.

Victoria was truly not sure what was going on. The dog creature was scary, it was true. And she wasn't sure who was helping and who wished her harm. However, she had been gently reared, and part of that included not being manhandled. And being held, carried and argued over did not sit well with her at all.

So she pushed at the arms and kicked back with her feet as hard as she could. If she could get something free, then maybe she could do something,

"Let go of me and put me down!" she demanded. "Let me go!"

Nisor had wanted to stay out of the fray, but perhaps not <I>this far out of the fray. He wasn't going to be of use in this fight if he didn't get closer. Then at least he could let off an attack or two.

Hustling as much as he could he moved to place himself in a more advantageous place.

Nisor moves from G2 to I7.

Well advantageous was subjective. The mist was pulling double duty as far as helping and hindering. He could hear combat on the other side of the mausoleum but that was about all. Perhaps moving around the mist would allow him to get the drop on someone. Good a plan as any.

Nisor uses standard action to move to I13

Turn Two Party Results

Victoria - The people around Victoria seem to realize that she speaks neither German or Latin, and one of the guys in robes makes an attempt to speak to her in Euro.  The guy has a thick German accent, but if she concentrates hard enough, she can understand him.

"Oh Lady of the Night, and Keeper of Secret...", he comments taking Victoria's hands almost pleading, before letting go realizing that you might take offense at this.  He takes a fearful look over his shoulder at the barely restrained mayhem rolling in from the west.  He swallows hard before turning to you more than a little anxious.

"We... your faithful... have called you to our presence, so that we might better serve you.
Show mercy upon us and save us from...
", He glances over his shoulder where a wolfman is cutting up flesh like a butcher at shop, and then over at the large frost giant who's shadowy form can barely be seen through the Obscuring Mist, but who's mass and size is unmistakable by the volume of mist being displaced and swirling about by her passing.

"PLEASE!  WE BESEECH YOU!", He gets down on one knee looks over his shoulder and the other guys in robes gets down on one knee too.  Victoria gets a terrible feeling that they think she's something she's not.

Victoria is put down, but still surrounded by people begging her to save them, from some pretty serious looking monsters.  Victoria is located in U-12

Maybelle hurries along winding through the area, turning the corner she goes through the mist briefly before coming out the other side.  There doesnt seem to be much in the area.  No great mystery why as Brigitte seems to be doing a handy job chasing them off.  Maybelle is in L-15

Gar notices a bunch of mostly unarmed humans passing him by.  They had thrown their spears at Brigitte and started fleeing past him.   He move off to ambush them, and over plays his strike giving the human just enough warning to side step the attack, the blade grazing off leather armor.  Smoke swirls about as he takes notice that Brigitte is in the area.  Gar is located in O-12

Brigitte meanwhile takes offense to them hurling their spears at her and gives chase.  Reduced to those little blades that barely seem to count as a weapon to her she starts to swipe at the nearest one human near her.  Mist swirls about the area, and really she cant see if she hit or not, but the satisfying 'thunk' of flesh meating her axe was a pretty good hint.  Brigitte is located in L-12

Meanwhile...

Andrew tears the throat out of the last sentry, and before the body can totter over, spins around to face the Rogue that snuck up on him.  A killing swipe should have ended him then and there, but by some trick of shadow and light, his claws catch only mist leaving a swirling pattern in the air where they passed.  Andrew is located in P-6

Flutterdew flits about near Andrew, dancing carefully in the air from place to place, trying not to be in the way before finding a moment to tap him on the head, and heal some of the injuries he suffered.  Andrew Heal 5 Hit Points Flutterdew is located in P-8 - 5' off the ground

Nisor opts to head south, hustling along to bring up the rear, and perhaps deal with any stragglers that might have slipped past the others.  Nisor is located in I-13

Daubra walks calmly along and makes a quiet prayer to the Earth Mother for help, oddly a creature of the air shows, which does Daubra's bidding and begins to harass the Rogue.  While the Rogue was busy with the obvious and immediate threat from Andrew, he is surprised to find himself under attack from the air, talons and beak are surprisingly accurate and lethal as he's torn to ribbons and goes down screaming from the wounds.  Daubra is located on the roof in K-6

Turn Two Human Results

The cultist all around Victoria seem to be begging her to strike the Party Dead where they stand.  While well dressed, she looks to be nothing more than a slip of a girl, unless... you know... it was just an act to lure the party in so she can blast you with a fireball or something...

Meanwhile...

The guy who seems to be trying to organize the defense is making a fighting withdrawal, and is not against putting the cultist between him and the party.

He's giving orders which seem the other seem to be following.  Most of his 'party' is falling back with him, while doing what they can to slow the monsters chasing him.

The two archers finally gather their wits and draw arrows to let fly at Brigitte.

Attack +3 (BAB+1 Weapon Focus+1 Dex Bonus +1), Damage d6
23:06, Today: Fate rolled 9,41,2 using d20+3,d100,d6.  Shoot Brigitte.
23:06, Today: Fate rolled 21,65,3 using d20+3,d100,d6.

One arrow is no where near her the other catches her on the shoulder, and finds a crease between the scales to strike flesh.  It stings but it's not lethal.  Brigitte takes 3 damage and goes to 6 of 13 hit points

From the far south, a Obscuring Mist starts to billow out from one of the humans blotting out locations of the three men in the corner.

Things start to look grim so the spearman try to space out and set for charge again, not sure what's coming out of the mist has them concerned, but they've seen Andrew, and Brigitte which honestly is more than enough to motivate them to be careful.  They seem to be trying to by the Robed guys behind them, and the girl time to do... something?

The Humans that Brigitte and Gar were trying to engage, really arent keen on going toe to toe, and make for the dubious safety of the spears being set for charge.  Daggers drawn they intend to make their stand there.

She took a petty swing at the fleeing soldier, but was pretty sure she didn't hit anything in the fog. She shrugged and moved to chase him down. She swatted at the arrow that hit her, damn that stung!

She was pretty sure the guy she was following by sound left the cloud, but she kind of liked being under the cover of fog, so instead she clung to the edge of the cloud. It seemed to make it harder for the archers to hit her, and she liked that!

Flutterdew was saying something but she had no idea what the pixie was talking about. "Girl? What girl? 'Belle, you see a girl?"

She heard the sound of an enraged monkey and moved in that direction. She could see soldiers outside the fog so swung at one of them.

Attack of opportunity hits AC 11 (right) beats fog miss chance and does 14 damage, if it hits AC 11 (right) Do you get flanking bonus for attacking a fleeing opponent? If so I hit AC 13!

Nisor moves from I-13 to K-14

Deciding to opt for a sure hit he grasped his quarterstaff and with a turning flourish loosed the white dart of energy.

"Impetu."

The bolt soared noiseless through the air and scored a hit against his target.

Maybelle let out a low snort as she braced herself, the sounds of combat everywhere and the entire battlefield a complete cluster. Some men where kneeling, others with spears readied and a single woman in the midst of it surrounded by... well honestly Maybelle had no idea what was going on over there. Hopefully they could ask after the battle, albeit she doubted many of their foes would survive this.

"Yea Brig, A single woman in the midst of them. Not sure why though but she isn't armed so might not be a threat. Or another caster. Be careful please!"

Maybelle didn't like killing per say, but she had grown up with horror stories of what humans could do. While there were exceptions she doubted that they where the norm for such a warmongering race. Letting out a final snort of air she rushed, her hooves pounding on the dirt and without warning her weight impacted the guard at S14. More importantly, her horns did, point first. Ignoring the splash of blood couldn't be done though as she gave a slight cringe feeling her horns gore the man and the blood soak into her hair, that would take forever to wash out.

Full-Round: Charge to R15 hitting Human at S14
Note: Activated Shield of Faith last turn in case you missed it.

Assuming that she can't hear any of the talking about her...

Now Victoria was both scared and confused. The weird men around her clearly wanted something of her, especially against the few even weirder creatures attacking her. But what? And did she really want to help the guys that, it seems, kidnapped her? And did she really want to attack creatures that, at least the little she saw, were nasty enough to go against anything she had?

And it truly didn't help that she was dizzy, confused and still not sure she wouldn't have to barf again...

She reached for her pouch, making sure she could reach her wand, then activated her mage shirt, which would at least protect her a little. "Please, I... I can't fight. Can't you send me back? I... I'm scared," she finally admitted to her captors, tears starting again.

While she was deeply concerned with any incarnation of the Lady of the Night showing up. The fading distance of the sounds of battle punctuated by fearful unfamiliar voices warned her something was not right. This was not nefarious invading cultists not right this was looking more like foolish child poked a badger in it's warren wrong. Had they thought they were summoning a demon and this timid voice came out instead?
Sister Daubra slid down the north side of the Mausoleum, finding when she needed, the edge of the mist. And hanging off the edge dropped down the remaining distance then took off at a cautious jog around the corner hoping she was reading the situation right and this wasn't going to get her turned into a Canyon-Eater pin cushion.
"Humans, you need to surrender. They're going to slaughter you if you don't surrender." She called loudly repeating in Latin and broken Dwarven with a gravelly accent. She reasoned if they surrendered they could sort things out. If they fought at least she tried mercy.

Full Action: Double move Climb down 5 for 10, drop  5' for free <10ft no damage and she can land on her feet. My math puts her at Q5 when she runs out of movement.

Gar rolls in and is a little bundle of raging fur and blades, and hacks up the hapless human.  Human S-12 dies.

Flutterdew send a little finger sized arrow out of the Obscuring mist that catches a cultist in the arm, he slaps the arm, wondering if they were being beseeched by bugs now.  Why was this going horribly wrong he wonders.  Cultist U-11 takes 1HP damage

Andrew regards the forming wall of spears and decides a change of tactics.  He takes a moment to flick blood off his claws and draws his bow.  From where he stands he puts an arrow in the spearman holding the corner of the formation.  Human T-10 takes 6 damage

Brigitte makes a grunt of frustration as her back handed swipe misses the fleeing human.  The mist might have been helpful to keep her from being a pin cushion but it made smacking these humans a game of hide and seek too.  Gar was attacking with his usual stealth making it easy to find the human by the sounds of his screeching.  The guy on the corner seemed distracted by Andrew's arrow.  The man makes the mistake of cowering behind his shield instead of trying to sidestep the attack, and vanishes as both him and the shield or cleaved in half under the weight over the gruesome axe.  Human S-11 dies

Nisor steps around Flutterdews obscuring mist and sees the south edge of the spear wall forming up.  He aims his staff and sends a burst of arcane energy out into the more dangerous man armed with a spear.  The man takes it in the chest, and seems startled but still functional, at least for now.  Human S-13 takes 4 damage

Maybelle rushes in, the man armed only with a dagger was barely a threat, as the force of her horns brush aside the shield and pierce the leather armor as if they were non existent.  There is the very audible groan of death and the splatter of blood and gore that really only occurs when a body burst open suddenly that cant be appreciated unless you were as close an personal as Belle was.  While the smell and gore would eventually was out, the blood would always soak into her hair tinging it red.  With a bit of work she would manage to wash it down to pink, but it would never quite soak out.  It was a visual reminder of the blood she spilled.  Human S-14 Dies

Dauble can hear that there was a lot going on, mostly people dying, but she needed to get out and see for herself what was happening, so she leaves the dubious safety of the roof,  to join Andrew, where she could get a better look at what was happening.  She tries to make an effort to negotiate a surrender, but with all the screams of people dying and being hacked, gored, and sliced up ... well actions speak louder than words, and it's hard to surrender in such a ... 'peaceful' atmosphere.  Well, dying was a sort of peace she supposed, just the sort Nyx would appreciate she thought.

Victoria watches as several people just outright die and vanish under various sorts of gruesome assaults just a few paces away from her.  She had activated her mage shirt, but really, it was only the most minor of comfort when she considered what was bearing down on her.  They were all scary but that Frost Giant was really really hard to ignore.  The head of that axe looked larger than her chest, and a vivid image of it going through her like that man flashed briefly in her thoughts.  She had her wand out but she notices the hand was trembling.  Even at her best she wasnt sure what she might do, and she felt anything but her best at the moment.

Turn Three Human Actions

From the fog a voice is yelling out a general retreat/rout.

"RIGHT!  I'VE HAD ENOUGH BOYS!  TIME TO BEAT FEET!   EVERY MAN FOR HIMSELF!"

It doesnt take much to urge a general routing of what's left of the humans.

Immediately the three in the Obscuring mist seem to have vanished, already poised to do so at the expense of those left behind, it seemed to be almost prepared in advance.  (Double Runs x4 spd, away 240')

The Archers are no fools, they see the spear line crumbling and they're through the obscuring mist and following close on the heels of their leaders.  (Double Runs x4 spd, away 240')

Human U-10 and U-11 decide they've had enough. They drop spears and shields, which will only slow him down and flees East  (Double Runs x4 spd, away 240')

Two of the cultist (V12 and U13) decide that they've had enough and decides to flee the scene as well.  While they might worship Nyx, they really have no desire to join his ranks just yet.

What's left of the cultist seems to hide (cower?) behind Victoria, certain (praying?) that their faith in her Uberness and will to stand beside her will be rewarded once she smites these worthless vermin from their sight.  "Smite them Smite them!  What are you waiting for!  Call upon your legions to fight for you.  Your dark plagues... your all consuming void of hunger!  Do something!"

One spearman staggers back when he realizes he's the last man on the line and falls back, only to realize there is no where to fall back.  He falls back a few feet and finds that the only person left to stand with him is some frilly slip of a girl that looks worthless in a fight.  Exhaling a deep breath he takes in the scene of carnage in front of him.  The only good thing about all this was he wont have to pay off those gambling debts.  The downside was that he probably wasn't going to live long enough to enjoy it.  Glancing to his right he growls at Victoria.  "What are you waiting for... If you want to live RUN!  I'll... try and hold them off.", he sounds unconvinced about that last bit but he's walking wounded at the moment and has no delusions about his odds of fleeing.

Maybelle sighed and casually put the dagger back on her belt, despite the combat situation she felt like letting her enemies surrender was for the best. She didn't quite enjoy needless bloodshed after all even from a race that scared the hell out of her. And the disgusting feeling in her hair was making her shiver. She raised her hands up to show empty palms to Victoria and the few people with her as she spoke softly.

"Look, Human's aren't generally welcome in the valley." Maybelle explained as if talking to a child, though she did stress generally with a glance to Brigitte. Sadly, with humans They seriously seemed to think they had the right to be everywhere, it was horrifying. "Especially those who come with weapons and rituals. It's not like this is new, you knew before coming here you weren't welcome. I get you breed like rabbits but maybe stop trying to murder everyone not-human, yea? Look... You can surrender, run and risk running into another patrol or keep fighting and well that didn't work out for you."

Maybelle lowered her hands and gave her head a flick to the side as her ears swayed along with the motion. She was a little too soft-hearted to ignore the splash of blood and visibly cringed, but was grateful the gore trying to trickle down her scalp had slowed down for the moment. Still a little confused about Victoria but she didn't feel like the girl was a threat. Maybelle was still a 'Taur after all and those tears looked damn real to her. Absently she held out a hand to Victoria, hoping she could understand her. They seemed to be worshiping her, perhaps if she came along quietly the others would too? "C'mon, let's stop fighting yea?"

There were too many things to be afraid of. There was the scary giant thing, that could squish a girl into nothing without a thought. There were these guys behind her, thinking that she was some bad ass that could wipe everything from the earth. Then, the was this other guy, who was telling her to run while he gave his life for her. What did they think she was? Did they think that her little flame that she could make would kill all these? And still, they kidnapped her, clearly thinking she was some massive evil sorceress that could wipe the plain clear of everything.

And she was shaking, more sick from what she saw, and scared to death.

So. Running sounded best. She chose a path past her summoners (diagonal and down) and hoped for the best. Which wasn't her best. She made it about ten feet and then stumbled over her own feet and fell flat. Tiara and all. And once fallen, she stayed there. Truly, she did not want to see her own death. And she prayed, hoping the Goddess above and her mother would forgive her for being so weak.

Gar chops up a cringing cultist with particularly brutal glee, since he was sort of cringing near Victoria and mostly harmless.  His demands for surrender sort of is at odds with his definition of mercy.

Daubra also makes a more gentle call for a surrender, but really her half pint size sort of doesnt demand the attention of her larger compatriots.  She barely draws much notice, since she's late to the fight as far as they're concerns and not the dangerous one they have to watch.  When they turn and run, she quirks an eyebrow.  Not really an active attack or spell cast, so she just sort of watches to see what the others do.

Maybelle gives them what seems to be a reasonable suggestion with an obvious outcome.  Surrender to them, or take their chances with the North Shire Patrols, which are much less gentle.  She's a little surprised to see them turn tail and run.

Nisor watches cooly, not really at all surprised that they turn tail and run.  Humans were a pack animal that only felt brave as a mob, and rarely felt the same courage when their numbers dwindled.

Andrew 'runs' as fast as he can to cover the mist, but doing so will leave him flat footed against any attacks made against him, and he wont be able to make any attacks of opportunity when he gets where he's going.   That being the case, he gets to Y13, but cant act further once he gets there.

Flutterdew taunts them a bit more and shoots at the last spearman as if to make a point.  Flitting out of stabbing reach but not throwing.

Brigitte is about to hoist her rock a couple of time, and thinks it over a couple of times, and decides to stop for now.  She could aim for the ones running far far away, but really what was the point.  They werent here to track and kill anyone, just collect some ghost mushrooms, or some such.

Victoria makes something along the lines of a terrorized sound of some sort, except it sound more like a pre-emptive peep.  She turns to flee with about as much grace as a two beer date, that's been sipping from the all you can drink pitcher of Long Island Ice Teas, thinking they were just Ice Tea.  She teeters, she totters, not quite in a straight line and falls.  She something glittery tumbles from her hair that glints in the sunlight, and she sort of lies their sobbing clutching her wand to her chest.  She was praying to one of the Goddesses, but really that's meaningless because all eight divinities have male and female aspects.

The last cultist's eyes bogles as Gar cuts down the man in one slash.  At the sight of Victoria turning and fleeing is too much for him, and he makes an effort to turn and run as well.  He quickly realizes his odds would be much improved if the monsters were busy doing something else.  So... like it or not, little Miss Keeper of Secrets was going to help him escape rather she wants to or not.  As he races past Victoria, he inserts his staff between her running legs to send her tumbling, or at least he tried to.  The foolish girl might have fell on her own, it was hard to say.  'Good Riddance', he thinks before dashing at full speed, the werewolf was near at hand, but he was still turning to get himself situated, that the Cultist as time to go around him in a wider arc, and dart through the Obscuring Mist to make good his escape.

The last spearman exhales a deep breath.  Yeah he was probably going to die, but he wasnt going to do it groveling in front of merciless monsters.  He backs up at a light jog, and is about to break into a full run when he sees Victoria take a tumble.  'Oh come on... really????', just as he's about to go into a all out run, he breaks to a stop right next to Victoria.

"Get UP!  Get up NOW!", he tries to get Victoria up with his best drill sergeant voice.  He really couldnt spare the time or concentration to heave her up on his own.  "GO!  I'll try and slow the furry mongrels down for a few moments while you flee for the mist.", he grunts wondering really how long that was going to be.

He got between Victoria and the wolf, which was the more immediate threat of the moment.  The fool girl would not get up and was probably going to die, and him, being an idiot was probably going to join her.  He couldn't help it though, he had a little sister about her age, and a soft spot that was literally going to be the death of him now.

(We are out of combat, more or less)

The last spearman even, armed really isnt much of a threat against the entire party watching him do something stupid.

As for the ones routed, if you're not chasing, they're not coming back, at least not before you had a chance to grab some mushrooms and leave.

So you're more or less in free float roleplaying.  You may make actions, but please keep your actions to one per day, to avoid skipping through several rounds of activity, that might have allowed someone else to do things too.

Off the battlefield, the spears aren't worth much, and neither is the armor really.  The Daggers, might fetch a few silvers.  The dead bodies more.  The Fort at North Shire has a bounty out for human bodies.  They pay fifty to hundred silvers for each human body bought to them.  (They reanimate them, and use them as recruits to fill out the militia patrol as Skellies and Zombies, a few places in town might use them to chop out and serve as meals for a few of the inhabitants in the valley with a taste for it.)

You however, are not really prepared to drag the bodies all the way to town the moment.

"Furry Mongrels? Rude. You came into our valley with your spears and magic, and now insults. You wonder why we don't like you. Good Gaea....."

Maybelle looks a lot less scared with most of the human's gone, taking a deep breath as she notices the utter clusterfuck that has gone on here. It was frustrating to say the least. Thankfully Andrew's more feral looks was drawing the guards full attention for the moment as she skirted around him, her hooves planting in the ground by Victoria's side as she crouched down.

Casually picking up the glittery thing, she considered the sobbing human clutching her wand and let out a put upon sigh. She was too damned nice, her entire race was, for her to consider this. Gently she patted Victoria on the head with a sad smile, it wasn't Victoria's fault her race was full of monsters.

"C'mon you. You're safe for now as long as you don't attack anyone, and you dropped something. How about we stand up and get you a drink while we figure out what happens now. Yea? You don't seem like you came here willingly unlike the others." Well, if she had, she damn well wasn't acting like it. Sneaking into hostile territory, performing rituals, being screamed at and then curling up and crying. Definitely didn't fit the hostile invader theme.

Maybelle considered the girl, and knew how much humans hated or seemed to non-humans. She also knew her own nature, thanks to human manipulations looked oft-times disturbingly human. Hopefully that would help calm the sobbing girl down.

At this point, Victoria was crying more from hitting her head on the way down to just being and feeling helpless. But as she lay there, she realized she wasn't dead. And she somewhat heard the voice, telling her that she wouldn't die if she didn't attack anyone. But that didn't matter to the fool that was trying to give his life for her to run away.

"P-put down your weapon, sir," she called out with a sob. "You don't need to die too. They... they... she said we won't if you don't... don't attack."

She lifted her head, rather surprised her head was patted. That was kind of an unusual way to treat a prisoner. So she looked up. And if Maybelle was observant, the complete look of surprise and shock on the young woman's face is clearly not contrived.

"Who... what... are you?" she asked, both afraid and confused.

Andrew look over to the mist.  His attempt to stop the humans fleeing had not really worked but they had got two humans anyway.  One he was sure was creature they tried to summon.
He looked over the group.  He reflected on the group.  They had done alright.
If they come across a more organized band of human it may have been a little different.
It was quite clear some of this group where not really ready when it come to fighting humans.  Something he have to talk to them about.

Also they really need a leader and spokes creature.  Someone to do the talking.
That was on list of things to sort out tonight.

He walks slowly up to the girl.
If I remember right this little girly was not here when I looked over the group.
He turns to human spearman.
Would I be right in saying she is what you summoned here?

Maybelle flashed Victoria a warm but slightly confused smile, absently tilting her head as she considered the words and confusion. 'Taur weren't the most commonly known race in the world, but she would have assumed anyone planning to enter the valley had learned of them.

"Names Maybelle, and I'm a 'Taur. But.... you don't know that do you? You're definitely a long way from home aint'cha? Either that or human-kind has completely forgotten we exist which miiight not be the worst of things. Now, y'want a hand up, or is the ground that comfy?"

Maybelle playfully held a hand out to Victoria, the one without her sparkly thing in it. Kneeling down she was obviously a bit confused herself at the girl who didn't recognize a 'Taur, something about this whole situation was just plain weird. She glanced up at Andrew, her warm smile looking a little strained at his words.

"Summoned? Hmm, that might explain it. But just how far away where ya summoned from Lass?"

The glittery thing that fell off Victoria's head is a sort of circlet, or tiara maybe?  Looks sort of like this.  It's a delicate looking thing.  She has no idea what sort of metal it's crafted from, nor what sorts of gems are used.  It's well made and of obvious craftman quality, so it might have some value, even if made of common metal and stone for it's decorative value.

It might be of modest comfort to Victoria that Maybelle's teeth aren't the sharp and pointy flesh rending sort... like.. maybe Andrew may have, and Giants have a grand reputation for eating people.?

The last man steps back and away from Andrew, lowering the tip of his spear, but keeping the weapon handy.  He recognizes that unless Victoria gets up, they were hopelessly flanked and out powered so he does stand down a step, but it's obvious the wheels in his brain are working on options of escape.

With the situation under control, Nisor dedicates himself to a more meaningful task: gathering ghost mushrooms. It was a largely mundane task, all things said, but it would pay more than the bodies of the humans or their common equipment. Besides he didn't much care what happened with the humans. Neither them living in captivity or dead fazed him much; there was no love lost between them.

Why dont you start by telling us why you are here and where you are from before we decide what to do with you.

and while i fancy a mount apparently Maybelle has taken a shine to you. Of course if you want her than you got to feed her,  what do humans eat anyway?

What Victoria says and does is up to Victoria.

The spearman has seen first hand what happens to unarmed humans.  Really he's prepared to die, he's not prepared to make your life any easier to do it, nor is he willing to do it unarmed and helpless.  Really, there are things worse than death... He turns a glance at Victoria and wonders if he's doing her a service letting her live or if it'a greater mercy to die by his hand than... whatever they have planned for her.

Victoria took the hand, still amazed by the horns, and carefully stood. She looked around a bit wildly, seeing all the weird creatures. By all above, where was she? And what was this about what humans eat and mounts and things?

But she looked first at the soldier. "Please, put the spear down. You don't need to die. And... I might need someone... like me."

She looked at all around her in fright and confusion and more than a little trepidation. "I... I am Princess Victoria Edenburg. I was traveling to find some elvish priests with my Fiancee when suddenly, I was here. I don't know why. I am no powerful anything, I am just... just me." She swallowed, still swaying on her feet. "I'm not here to kill anyone, and I don't know anything about being a mount or someone to feed me or anything. Where I come from, there are... there is no one like all of you."

She looked frightened to death... and was swaying with the lingering illness. She was very attractive, despite the mud, the bit of blood on her forehead and her hair in disarray.

"Right-O.  Since Y'all don't seem to need me and seem to be in such an obliging mood, i suppose I'll be taking me leave of your company.", The Spearman starts to slowly back up for the Obscuring Mist.  Nice and slow, his spear tip pointed down.  Really there was no reason not to try at this point.

If he was terribly helpful telling us who hired him and what he knows about the ritual they were attempting, we might be able to register him as her pet human. If she ends up banished he'd be a good guardian for her, and if she ends up welcomed she could release him outside of the territory when that's settled." Daubra looked sympathetically at the two new comers. The spearman seemed to understand his predicament, though she questioned the wisdom of trying to escape when he was so clearly captured. "I need to patch up some stonework, Nissor I'd like to talk with you." She beckoned for Nissor to follow as she headed for the mausoleums she intended to reassemble. She also looked around for adequate stone nearby to construct a crude mausoleum for the dead from the battle. It'd make the humans feel better and keep predators away until she could come back with a cart to claim the bodies.

"Hey Brig, I can carry her but she's surprisingly heavy. Think you can carry her? We'll make better time that way."

Admittedly, Maybelle could probably toss her back to one of the boys and handle Victoria that way but it would still be a bit of a strain. He does sling the shield over his shoulder to carry off his back and tests Victoria's weight.

"I got her.  If it makes you feel any better about it, I obviously wont be going anywhere fast with her over my shoulder."

I don't think the human knows his employers were trying to summon something so demonic. I'd rather not dissuade him from feeling protective of her for now, but we should look into what she is and what her connection to the dark goddess is." Sister Daubra wasn't overly hostile about demonic and was pretty much okay with undead, so it was clear she was using dark in the literal lighting level sense, to describe the goddess Nyte.

Turn Three Player Phase

As the Giantess picked her up, Victoria moaned again, and began moving. Perhaps, she was coming around? But she spoke too...

"No... please... Don't kill me..."

Gar offers to shoulder Brigitte's pack as he tells the human woman "rest easy, there, girl. No one is killing anyone right now. We're all trying something called ci-vi-li-za-tion. We're just taking you back to our village. Once we've done some cleanup out here, we will try talking to discover what the purpose of all this foolishness was."

Maybelle patted Brigitte on the side at her comment with a soft smile, glancing up at her holding Victoria. She sometimes did have to remind herself of Brigitte's human-side, but really she also understood 'Taur came from humanity long ago too.

"Let's be honest, your family is a great reminder that there are some good humans mixed in with all the bad. Just because your crop looks bad doesn't mean you won't find a few good ones in it."

As they pack up and hopefully head back to camp, Maybelle would keep her eyes out for mushrooms, but unlike the others didn't range too far for them. Honestly she usually kept an eye out for helpful herbs anyway.

"Besides, doesn't sound like the lass is from around here."

Turn Three Player Phase

After not getting anywhere with his search Andrew returns.  He points out.

She said she was going to see a group of elves.
Now I am sure that something no human of the empire would do.
At the least I would say she comes from the edge of our continent.
More than possible from another world entirely.  Or maybe another time.

The wolf-elf looks at the others.  Trying to see who understand what he talking about
and who just think he is crazy.

The young woman moaned again, then began to wiggle.

"I... I can... I can walk. Please? Put... put me down.." It sounds a little iffy, but she seems to be sincere in her desire to be put down.

Brigitte shrugged massive shoulders, pitching Victoria a little higher in the air. She was in no danger of falling, but being held aloft nearly ten feet off the ground might be disconcerting to some. She stopped walking and crouched down then slid Victoria off her shoulder, gently putting her feet on the ground.

Crouched down like this she was about eye level with Victoria, and smiled at her.

"Just a sec. I haven't used this yet today." She touched a ring on her hand and ... shrunk. Instead of a giant standing before Victoria, there was a very petite woman who looked almost human. She was shorted than Victoria was, though muscular and powerfully built. She reached out to shake Victoria's hand.

"In case I have to squeeze someplace too small to get my big arse into, a had a magic ring done up. It doesn't keep me tiny for long, and I can only use it once a day. But pleased to meet you, human. Sorry if I scared ya, holding you up there."

She took her back back, but couldn't shoulder it until the spell wore off.

In reply to Daubra Stinke (msg # 113):

Nisor resisted the urge to look back at the woman who had been summoned and instead nodded his head in agreement.

"I'll look into it. If she is some sort of planar being bound to this plane then there must be some sort of magic that is binding her here and its of ritual level strength. Alternatively they simply transported some unsuspecting woman to this place with a teleportation ritual."

Turn Three Player Phase

Victoria blinked in surprise as the large giant became someone her size. Almost in a daze, she put out her own hand. "It is Victoria. I... I just wanted down. I am not... I have never been carried. Like that I mean."

She reached up to her head, then looked around. "Forgive me, I can tell you want to go somewhere, but... Have you seen my Tiara? And I think I dropped my wand too."

She keeps looking around, swaying still from weakness.

Daubra looked cautiously in the directions of the others from where she and Nisor were speaking privately. "I thought binding was only needed in arcane rituals. This seemed spiritual. She also might be formerly dead whether or not she's alive. We'll be cautious." She set about finishing up her stone crafting with constructing a spare mausoleum large enough to serve as a mass grave.

Nisor kept watch on Daubra's work, focusing on it to avoid looking suspicious.

"Perhaps so but if she is a spiritual being and their ritual was intended to bind her to this plane then I imagine more people will come looking for her soon. As for his mortality I will see if I can detect any lingering magic or undead presence."

Victoria was still looking at Brigitte, reaching another hand to hold her's. "Truly, I am lost. I am not anywhere I know to be. I am a Princess in a land so far away that I cannot show the way. I am frightened and scared and promise I will not fight or hurt anyone. I just want... want to go home, and I fear you cannot do that."

The teen girl looked as she spoke, a scared young woman who was far from what she knew. And not sure still if she was going to live through the experience.

Maybelle had been silent as she kept her eyes open as they went for any and all herbs and mushrooms, seeming content to let Brigitte get to know the human girl better. It was only when she spoke of having lost things that Maybelle remembered trying to hand the girl the shiny 'thing' she had dropped earlier. The 'Taur  approached Victoria casually from the side with a soft smile, making sure she wasn't surprised by her. Calmly she held out a hand, still holding the glittering thing from before.

"No idea what a Tiara is but you dropped this sparkly thing, here ya go. Thought it might be important."

Victoria's Tiara was quickly found and recovered by Maybelle.

Her wand is a harder find.

Andrew vague recalls one of the cultist running off with what looked like a twig in hand, which... might have been a wand... maybe... though Victoria denies her describing her wand as a 'twig'.

Regardless... her wand is missing at the moment.

When Nisor and Daubra finish their discussion Daubra rejoins the group and asks Brigette to help her (ie do all the lifting to get the slain humans into a ramshackle stone mausoleum she's constructed for them until she can arrange a cart to pick them up for harvesting. She avoids discussing her intention to sell the corpses to necromancers to bolster the valley's defenses, mostly because she doesn't want to scare the humans who they aren't killing.
