Campaign Player Races

Since everyone is making their own Player Race to play, i thought it might be helpful to have a thread for the players to put up whatever they think is appropriate for their Player Race.

Submit it in your player thread if you've a mind to add to this.

Taur - 10 Racial Points

Maybelle:
Taur

A race born from magical experimentation and selective breeding, their background lies in what would be best described as a horror story. Created by humans over several centuries including the use of humans, minotaurs and satyrs, the race that came from it are known at the 'Taur. Despite only having a history of less then a thousand years, they've managed to thrive despite built in weaknesses and flaws. With the help of a few sympathizers the race of several thousand revolted, and many of the strongest fought to the end to allow the majority of the race to flee. Skirmishes left more and more dead as the time passed but the Taur are a race bred for stubbornness and endurance, and while many where lost over months of fleeing eventually even the humans had to fall back and withdraw due to the dangers of the wild. Many more Taur would be lost to dangers as they fled deeper into the wilderness before finally finding a place to settle, the Misty Valley.

Society: In the three centuries since settling in the Valley, the Taur have obviously prospered. Less then fifty Taur reached the valley and settled in a desolate part that none where keen to claim. Despite that with their natural skills in tending the earth, the once useless rocky terrain has been transformed to a large stretch of farmland and a small town of a dozen buildings and another dozen large homes. Their population is back up to well over two hundred, and each of the large farm is tended to by small families of fifteen to thirty 'Taur. The entire Herd work together in a surprising show of unity, and supplies are gathered and shared in the community buildings in the center of the homestead. They are overall a welcoming and kind community but quick to throw out troublemaking outsiders, horn first.

Relations with other Races: While fairly open minded and generally peaceful, 'Taur are very distrusting of Humankind as well as any large predators. Not necessarily aggressive, but until proven to be 'safe' they are generally on edge around such races. They have several domesticated animals including but not limited to: horses, cows, cats and dogs around the homestead albeit cows are used as pets rather then food.

Appearance and Description: 'Taur would be considered 'humanlike', likely due to the Aesthetics of the Humans who created them. Despite being large then the average human in both height and weight, their general body structure is that of a large framed human above the waist. Their lower halves are more bestial, with the hips down being lightly furred and bovine legs as well as tails to help with their balance. On their head Horns grow, though they can vary in length from six inches to thirty inches albeit they generally average around twelve to eighteen inches in most adults. Since 'Taur are densely packed due to their natural toughness and durable bones their weight tends to be a bit higher then a human of equivalent size.

Alignment and Religion: Their natural connection to Nature often shows itself in a favoritism towards Rangers and Druids, as well as any Archetype focusing around living in harmony with nature. They generally err on the side of Kindness after their own past, and the most common alignment of the group is Good. They worship the Goddess Gaea (?), the Goddess of Nature.

Adventurers: Adventurers are rare from the 'Taur due to their small population, and most that do stumble into the role accidentally. That said once involved 'Taur are often too stubborn to walk away and most of their famous adventurers just refused to quit until they felt they had done enough. Most have been Rangers, though a few Druids and Fighters have made a name for themselves in the past few centuries.

Names:
Taur aren't prone to any specific names, many are drawn from ancestors or other local cultures. When in doubt, use a human name or the name of flora/fauna.

Ages: Adulthood - 16 Years of Age, Middle Age - 35 Years of Age, Old Age - 70 Years of Age.

It should be noted upon reaching Old Age, few 'Taur survive much longer. Many theorize its because once their endurance begins to fade they are ready to pass on, but others think its how they where designed by humanity. Slaves that can't work are useless after all. As such, there are few 'Taur of Old Age at any given time, and those few are often the elders of the community.
