The site always has an odd colour set for major holidays (world wide).

For some reason April the 1st has always been part of this.

Brigitte can be where ever she wants at this point.

That's fine, that may put you in the way and block ranged attacks from some characters that had ranged weapons ready.  I wont know for sure till i sit and make a proper map (if it comes to combat).

You have till i post tommorrow to get pre-combat actions done.  You may discuss other options, but once the dice start rolling that character is committed to combat, so, these are the rules of engagement.

You can pick where you are on the map (the bear hasnt moved), and you may have one prep action (draw item, cast spell, whatever).

If you're going to make an attack to you may spend your prep to 'aim' which i will allow to grant you a +1 hit bonus (this is good for melee and range).

I will also grant the party 'initiative' at this point so you can make attack rolls.

The bear has it's normal armor class, of 16.

How tall is the dire bear?

I will try to not block any ranged attacks if possible of course. Leave 1 open square between Brigitte and the bear. She has reach so I can hit it from a square away.

Will hold my attack until it's clear we're attacking. Once someone else attacks I'll do so, or if someone calls for an attack. If the bear attacks or moves closer I'll also attack. I guess I should put that in the in character post somehow...

Well... he's not a dire bear...

He's on all fours at the moment, so he's maybe three or four feet tall.  If he gets up on his hind legs... much larger.

Tax season this year sucks, everyone seems to be getting hammere, and coming to me for advice (I use to do this for a living).

Combat about to start.

Characters may take a 5' free step, before combat starts (will not count as part of your actualy round of movement this will allow you to adjust your position before the fight actually starts, to reflect nudging yourself to where you want to be), so you may take another one as part of your action.

Gar is about 10' off the ground hanging on a branch, high... but not high enough he realizes after seeing the bear to stay out of reach.  He can travel 2.5' for a free action (it's difficult terrain cause the branches aren't helpful to climbing.  'dropping' out of the tree is a free action and a DC 15 acrobatics roll to land on your feet ready to go.  (otherwise you fall prone/on your back/whatever, and need to make the effort to stand)

How do you handle moving into and through squares occupied by allies. We've got some tight quarters for a big gal.

You can move through, you can't share the space with out bumping into each other and someone being jostled out of place.

Being that large can be a new tactical challenge for sure.

Question, how does the bear have reach ? As far as i know bears just have a normal attack range of 5ft not 10ft even if its large.
