Campaign Classes

In reply to Brigitte Morndottir (msg # 44):

Hmmm it could technically work, not with Devastating charges, but with a combination. That said a 2h Hammer pretty much makes it all pointless. A devastating charge is 2d6+1.5x Str. A 2h Weapon gets 1.5x Str period and plenty of 2h weapons match 2d6 (Earthbreaker for example). But I like the horn charge idea too much to want to change the race, plus it fits the concept too well.

Druid does make sense, I just... kind of suck at them. The idea is fascinating but when I think of how it will play out I'm leery. Typing it all up made me lean a little more towards Unarmed Fighter honestly, but not enough to outright decide. That said the Herbalism Variant may tip me into trying my hand at Druid again. The idea of picking up a reach weapon is interesting, and a cow-girl with a wolf companion seems.... wrong.
... Looking through the list, the idea of a Cow amuses me far too much. And though it's from a supplement, a War Bull is even more amusing. A Stag might make a reasonable amount of sense too. A small cat can get a trip though it eventually loses it at level 4.

Hmmm, Maybelle's reborn from an older pc who never got the chance to actually be played. Very community oriented, Kind and protective. She's not a fan of violence but if threatened is good at it. I originally looked into a Charge build just for her to plow through people, but that seems to lead into a Grapple build anyway (Allowing a successful charge to be followed with a grapple if I remember right). I also debated multiclassing.

Technically, I believe Ranger is also an option as is Barbarian. Albeit I'm not sure I want to consider a third class as I'm already torn between Fighter and Druid.

Waiting for a train and thumb typing so I put from me limited till I get home.

You can consider a nature oracle too.

They have divine casting, Cha base modifiers for spells and drop the whole animal companion  and wild shape thing if you're not into it.

I'm stuck on feat. Guided Hand would be classic since her strength and dexterity are both meh. But ideally that's +15% to a bad damage output (possibly improved if the favored weapon it's something with reach or otherwise helpful). I could try more buffing options like Combat Advice which would be use a move action and get +10% to hopefully the best combat damage outside of casters.

Also kind of toying with skill focus in sculpting. She doesn't need it but there is nothing in pathfinder that doesn't reach epic levels if you focus on it.

----
On that note if someone is looking at teamwork feats going it'd be nice but who else would take it. I am open to these as options also.

I have never really looked at teamwork feats, but I'm not opposed to taking one if it works well.

I usually play fight-y clerics with reach weapons when I play a cleric. I like the style, but it might be hard to pull off depending on the race traits. I really like the evangelist archetype but a) might not be allowed b) might not be in character and c) you might not!

If you're more a casty cleric hmm... Not sure what domains you're looking at but bit of luck is nice from luck domain for melee support.

Earth and Rivers, I wasn't kidding when I said Sister Daubra does plumbing. Acid Dart is her best offensive power always better than a long spear. Looking at long spear I don't think it's worth the weight.
For high AC aid another is superior compared to a small sling loaded with rocks AC 14+ the extra DPR from a long spear is less than 1 and it'd put me in a 5' step from ouchies.
For a easy fight it would be better letting the heavies deal with it and just aiding with a sling. For a Medium fight some early aid with acid dart or after that start buffs should turn it into an easy fight, still not worth breaking out the long spear. For a hard fight I'd want to Exhaust Acid dart and Magic stone, probably a buff spell and or heals so by the time I wish I had a long spear it'll be around the 10 round into a boss fight.
If I had money left I'd rather a shield which would make my AC less abyssmal in all those circumstance. So I think I'm going with a Kunai, because clearly the Earth and Rivers cleric needs a trowel based weapon. Also I can stone shape that into a wall to make a super strong anchor which I can recover the same way. Also it's a free pry bar/piton and I plan on mostly leaning on the sling for I've got nothing better to do rounds

Is Acid Dart aided by Point-Blank Shot Feat or vial-of-acid as an alchemical power component?

So can any of us actually fight or are we all just sort of not combat oriented?

I'm fighting pending approval. Presume gar as well and it sounds like mirabelle at least halfway decent fighter, or maybe full on depending on her choices.

Long spear is decent if you're fighty. Like with 16 strength. Sounds like you're focussing on wisdom so yes sling for when you have absolutely nothing else to do makes sense. Only thing I'd say is that if you're going to buff it's best in round 1 (or even better before) rather than after acid instead of other way round. But then I would say that, wouldn't I?

As a ranged touch attack point blank shot would help, but utility would fade at higher levels comparable to a mage taking weapon focus. As a domain power it doesn't seem to have any benefit from Alchemical Power Components.

I quite agree on buffing the brute squad before joining the attack, I was pointing to most big combats end before you'd actually get to wanting to use the long spear.

Apparently Elemental Affinity does not help monster summoning with the (earth) descriptor. Still Bless, Divine Fervor, Monster Summoning, even handing out cures Sister Daubra is a cleric she'll be fine for helping in combat. Though I do believe in letting the fighters fight.

right... home with a night of rest, and a tummy full of food, so.... i'm ready to sit and get as much of this done, as was waiting on me, as possible.

Will start alphabetically, and roll through them as quickly as possible.

Right... looked at a bunch of stuff, left a bunch of comments.

Apologies to Brigitte and Gar who i was not able to get to today, but will get on tomorrow.

Regarding Traits, you are allowed a total of two, many of you have taken advantage off the offered campaign traits to get a few more racial points, or access to advance, or even monstrous traits.  On that note, i'm inclined to let one advance trait slide if you feel it's important to the concept go ahead and take it, and if it bothers me we'll talk.  Alternately to taking one Monstrous trait, you can use Monstrous to take (2) extra advance traits.  Brining this stuff up because some players have asked and made use of the above information, and in the interest of a fair and level playing field during character generation i want to disclose this information.

Players may also request that i generate a Unique Trait that i feel is appropriate to the character to use.  Be warned, if you ask for the trait and i generate it, youre stuck with it.  You may discuss the trait i generate, but i make no guarantee that i will change it.

Umm...

Lastly, regarding Item Points, Most of you have one item point, which is around 200gp, that's enough to make a normal item mastwork.   Andrew has 2, and will get a magic item out of it.

I may increase item points per earlier message, but will wait to the end to assign items.  You may indicate to me what you want the magic to do in a broad sense, offense, defense, movement, encumbrance, etc... and i will take that into account when assigning magic items at the end.

So I grappled a lot with the dance between Druid and Fighter. Not so surprisingly, I've ended up a Ranger. Not sure about pursuing an Archetype or if i'll stay straight Ranger or dive into something else, but this way Maybelle will be good at helping you all not get lost and die. Huzzah!

Working out who knows what and why.

For starters Brigitte and Daubra are acquainted and on good terms.  The reason for this would be that Daubra is a Stone worker and Brigitte is a Smith.  While not completely identical the two share a related crafting trade and often find themselves working together on projects around North Shire.  Naturally when they take on a Guild Assignment, they are inclined to work together.

Made some progress today, final stages of finalizing Andrew, Brigitte, and Daubra.

Will do more in a bit, been mucking around with this all morning and i need a break.

Flutter dew and Maybelle and Nisor are next on my list to try and finalize enough to get combat stats for.

Starting to give out minimal magic here and there.  Mostly waiting for equipment list to look over for likely things to upgrade to masterwork or imbue.
