Right...

something to keep in mind...

There are traits and feats that you can take, to give you a few extra racial points if you need them.

(per the campaign house rules)

Also dont forget if youre using stuff not in the core rules, to cite where you are drawing the source from for me.

i should clarify ability score modifiers.

If youre picking a race that i have a template to follow (like 'goblin' for instance) you can slant the standard modifiers based on the templates listed score modifiers.  If you're building something non-standard from scratch just take the 'human' +2 modifier to any stat you please.

Okay ...

I think I'm to date on answering questions.

I have roleplaying teasers up for Victoria and Nisor.

I'm home this weekend, and out of pocket next week visiting a friend.  So... when i'm out of pocket i wont have my reference books, and all character generation questions pretty much stop at that point.

Feel free to introduce yourself 'here' out of character.

It would be nice if your character knew at least one other character in the party to establish pre game trust between the characters, so that you dont have that awkward outsider thing.

The exception will be Victoria, who is intended to be an outsider by design.

Just to get you all working on the same page and somewhat aware of the party, and so you can mull over how you know each other...

Nisor ~ Demi-Undead ~ Magical Scribe for the magic shop

Maybelle ~ Taur ~ Farmer from a nearby Taur Homestead

Brigitte ~ Undecided ~ Something tanky  (under discussion)

Right... we have a half the players i want on the books, and a fifth putting a interest note in, but had to rush off to work.

From what i can see so far, we could use a divine caster of some sort, and maybe a second tank.

Right... off to bed with me, will see what responses i have in the morning and try and get to them over coffee.

Right then, found a picture that actually worked. Yay!

Nice to meet you, Maybelle is a local girl who helps bring in produce to North Shire from the Taur Homestead. A bit young but nice.

Private threads up for Victoria, Nisor, Maybelle, Brigitte...

Feel free to use them at this time to ask me questions regarding chracter generation.

Some question i might quote and answer here to share the answers for other players to benefit from the question too.

I presume you all live on 'earth', so you have a perfect reference for background.

The campaign would take place in a European style cultural background, someplace with isolated with a lot of mountains.  A temperate climate that sees a good span of weather from nice summer days to winter blizzards as possible.

Common language of the land is 'Euro', which might be equated to English in Great Britain.

Campaign Classes

It's mentioned in the RTJ, but worth restating, to be clear on what classes i am accepting for the campaign...

I am allowing quite a bit of character tweaking to pass in the form of designing your racial traits, which should lead to some novel concepts.

For this reason, i want to stay close to 'standard' character classes.

I am accepting the following...

From Core Rules...

I accept
Barbarians... Nordic and Germanic ones are the standard, though Black Bloods (Humanoids) fit the model too.

Bards... known in the campaign as Spell Singers (singers) and Dervishes (dancers).

Clerics... I have a campaign pantheon  (Nyx, Fate, Sol, Creed, Gaea, Aericel, Luna, and Pyro) with spheres of influence and stuff for them, if interested i will go into detail for them.  More easily i will request email at that point to just send my old campaign pdf for anyone interested in reading.

Druids... are an 'older' faith than clerics, and less specific about who they follow and draw power from.

Fighters... The original vanilla tank.

Monks...  Asia exist... and from them, come the martial arts... We are however in Euro, so while it exist and is not unknown, Monks are sort a rare oddity.

Paladins... All of the divine have their favored champions in paladins, though 'Sol' is noted to have the largest following (easily over 90% of the paladins)

Rangers... Woodsy Fighters...

Rogues... Scouts... Specialist... thieves... whatever...

Sorcerers... among races that are less academic, innate talent offers a path to the arcane.

Wizards... among the academic, and those in the know, there is nothing like studying the arts.

From the APG i will accept...

Alchemist... Not quite academic, and more haphazard and accidental, they exist bringing their special brand of mayhem to adventuring.

Inquisitors... All of the divine have Inquisitors... Creed more so than others.

Oracles... for those who barely acknowledge the separation of the divine and are more concerned about a concept, the less cultured path of the Oracle exist.  Popular among the barbaric and less civil races.

Witches... why study for arcane power when you can just cut a deal and sell flesh blood and there intangible things you'll never miss for tangible power that you can very much use?

From Ultimate Magic i will accpet...

Magus.... a class that blends martial prowess with arcane arts.

This is it... If you are dead set on playing something not on this list, my apologies... its time to move on, this campaign is not for you.

Campaign Classes

I aspire... to start tonight/tommorrow.

Mostly because i start a road trip tomorrow and once i do i wont have access to my reference material.  I dont expect any immediate combat to start, so we should have a few days of light roleplaying before we get into any serious combat is my current presumption.

Campaign Classes

Currently i have four players for the maiden intro adventure to the campaign.

I have some concerns in that there are zero healing spells in the party currently, something i can fix with a temp NPC, till i fill out the party a little more, but just a caution that will be needed to observe on combat encounters.

Victoria is a little bit of an utility character, and she has some very very very limited keep you live potential, which while minimal is better than none.

I have a reasonable handle on Nisor and Maybelle, hoping to get a better handle on Brigitte and then i'll start an actual 'adventure' thread which presumes that certain things 'happened' before hand... Mostly that you all meet and decide to adventure.

Nisor, Maybelle, and Brigitte will all know each other, and be part of the North Shire 'Guild'.  Victoria will be a new introduction to them, that they will take along to try out on an 'easy' chore from the guild.

Wouldn't be the first time I played a tank y cleric or oracle if that works. I kinda like the role. But it's best if there is a dedicated melee type in addition to mostly melee battle cleric type.

Won't have race and class build done until tomorrow at earliest, sorry!

Hmm... will be on a train tomorrow, and i dont think we have enough peeps to start a proper adventure.  Will hold off till we have a few more players then.

You may play Brigitte as you wish, the needs of a divine healer of some sort is something i can easily cover with an NPC tag along, which is fine.  You were going to have a NPC of some sort standing in for my quiet participation in the party as well, this just directs her role if no one want to heal my npc will (she'll fill whatever role i think the party most needs)

Campaign Classes

In reply to Gullup (msg # 17):

I'm not sure what they are, so i'm going to go with a tentative 'no'.

I am mulling some very basic rank zero 'every character' skills that are minimal and i want everyone to have...

at the moment i have..

KS:(Local-Misty Valley)
Linguistic: (Euro)  {You're in the midst of learning Euro,you 'mostly' understand it, and can make 3 or 4 word sentences to communicate with}
Profession:(your choice)

a rank zero skill, will allow you to make a skill check with ability modifiers, but limit you to a DC 10 success result, which while minimal may be useful.

Party at the moment...

Flutter Dew - Fey Cleric
Daubra      - Earth Elemental Cleric
Gar         - Gullap Fighter
Nisor       - Undead Sorc
Maybelle    - Taur ... Undecided~ish
Brigitte    - Undecided~ish

We have six players at the moment, Victoria would make seven.  I may have an eighth, will make an effort to set up characters more tonight and then post a set up.

I've had time to think about this, and once i start will just throw you all into the deep end of the pool for the adventure.

Everyone seems to have gone on the low end newbie end of the levels so i will just combat challenges down to reflect that.
