IMPORTANT: Red Flags
So, quite a few years ago, in a game I was running, I thought I was portraying a great scene in which one of the characters got kidnapped. There was a lot of high emotion in the scene, but it wasn't until later that I learned that the high emotion was... Not in-character. The player had been kidnapped as a child, and had to endure some... Really bad stuff in the process. Really bad. The scene had pushed her into something of a PTSD state, and it almost ruined both a game and a friendship.
Because of this, I have a very specific rule when I run games- I want people to let me know if there's anything they consider 'off limits', or are uncomfortable with in their games.
On RPOL, the way I do this is I simply ask each of the players to send me a PM. Even if there -isn't- anything, I'd like each of you to send me one anyway with the word 'Red Flags' in the subject. Let me know if there's anything you don't want to see in-game.
Once I know all of these things, I'll make a second post here listing the stuff we should all be keeping away from. It'll be done anonymously, but red flags are red flags. If stuff comes up on the list that will detract from your enjoyment of the game, you and I can discuss it -privately-. I don't want this to turn into a debate.
Thank you for your consideration and assistance.
