Reminders:

This campaign is set on Earth-90214-B. It's not the same as Marvel's NOIR series and has already diverged in many ways. Current campaign year is 1934, and the repeal to end Prohibition just FAILED in Congress.

This is NOT the same Earth-90214 that Nicolas Cage's Spider-Noir came from. The world is not LITERALLY black & white like Pleasantville.

This game emphasizes ACTION and STORY over POWERS.

Characters that are more Avengers level in power will be less powerful that their 616 analogues to match the 1930's pulp style this game emulates. Characters that are more Street level like Daredevil will need the least adjustment.

SHIELD
SHIELD was originally the Security Homeland Initiative - Enforcement of Liquor Division, but now Strategic Homefront Intervention Explosives and Liquor Division after Prohibition was extended. Nick Fury is this world's analogue to J. Edgar Hoover and SHIELD are the FBI. Founded by President Wilson, they maintain his isolationist agenda. They also censor the media to keep stories of metahumans and other strangeness like the existence of vibranium or UFOs from making the front page.

THE FANTASTIC FOUR
Reed Richards and his Fantastic Four just returned from the South Pole on his experimental rocket flight. Think of them as Charles Lindbergh and Admiral Byrd combined, and Susan Storm as Amelia Earheart. The media let slip about his travel through the Savage Lands and the fissure there beneath the earth where the Mole Men live but Nick Fury is aggressively erasing the public archives.

THE FIRST AVENGER
The only "super hero" as such is Captain America who fought in the Great War. His bravado inspired several vigilantes on the home front in the 1920's, most of whom had no powers except for a strong right hook, but they always kept to the shadow hunted by criminals and law enforcement alike.

FREAKS
The average American has never heard the word "mutant". Sure there are Freaks of nature, but aside from the carny show they're out of sight and out of mind. Noted biologist, Professor Charles Xavier, has recently started a School for Gifted Youngsters in Westchester, Massachusetts.

ROXXON
As Republic Oil & Gas, this monopoly is analogous to the Standard of our history. After being subject to Antitrust laws, Roxxon broke off its R&D section into Advanced Idea Mechanics (AIM), though the division seems little more than semantics.

VILLAINS

I'm not averse to players taking on the roles of street-level villains. Just remember that this game works co-operatively, so no PC is going to get killed anytime soon unless it's suitably dramatic and mutually agreed upon. Also, noir genre characters are traditionally morally ambiguous, so maybe your character is just more desperate and more competitive than the rest.


ALSO

At the time of this writing we have 9 players roleplaying in all different directions. If any of you have ever tried managing a LARP, you know how complicated this can be. Add to that I run a couple more traditional RPGs on here and play in a few others. Oh, and I also have a job and a family.

In other words, please don't expect me to always be the Prime Mover for this game. I'm just The Watcher. :D I am sure you all have wonderful ideas for keeping each other challenged an occupied!
