No guarantees that you won't perish along the way, but I won't penalize you solely because you're fewer.  If nothing else, I'll find a new player for Rand if he doesn't return.

I also hope that Rand's information sheds some light on the issues that you were having Ynvaar.

Re: press on regardless

Here's a play-style question.  Would you rather cut straight to the chase linear-like and maybe move on to non-chult areas, or do you want to meander and have various, non-essential-type encounters?

I'm easy either way.  I think that if we look at Chult biologically, there should be 'core predators' that inhabit certain areas, and 'opportunity predators' that cut across areas, but stay within zones.

To point out my example IRL:  Moray Eels live in certain reefs.  If you go to that reef, you'll encounter it.  It's a core predator of that particular reef area.  The baracuda hunts along reefs; it's possible that you might see one or several at any reef.  It's opportuistic, but will always and only be found near a reef zone.  Very few predators - superpredators - hunt across zones.

Re: press on regardless

Personally?, hmm, i dont mind having a run in with any mob that would be in that area, though i would not like as in some games to see the mobs lined up to be the next in line for the group.

so some run in's but making progress to the prime destination.

I'm with Grom on that one, steady progress with the occasional run in works for me (I would like to stay in Chult though).

Re: press on regardless

Sure did.  I posted a copy for everyone in the Character Log thread :-)

OK Fred, you caught me out with 'Rods' but my Google-Fu is strong:
quote:
twelve inches make a foot; three feet make an ulna; five and a half ulna makes a perch (rod); and forty perches in length and four perches in breadth make an acre.

So... six rods = 33 meters or about 99' up to the canopy.

Note to self:  Don't fall out of these.

*Comes back from a gander at the map*

Now that we have the Marble Mountains to use as a point of reference, can we get a better fix on our actual location good DM?

Re: press on regardless

I love it when the lips and the dialogue doesn't sync.

You are correct with the heights.  I try to avoid regular time/distance conventions when I can.  Pretty soon, I'm going to introduce quipu.

ANyway, for location, you're pretty close, probably, to the G in Great Shrine.

Do Manayus' notes tell us anything at all about this 'Great Shrine' other than the name?

Re: press on regardless

outside of the game, did anyone catch the news about the kid in the wheelchair and the truck?. A teenager in a power wheelchair was crossing the road at a stoplight, seem he didnt make it across in time, the driver of a semi didnt see him in the crosswalk, so when the light changed he started moving the truck, well the wheelchair (power) got hooked in the grill of the semi, so there was the truck rolling down the street at 50 mph with the wheelchair in front and people yelling and waving their arms. Finally a police car spotted what was happening and stopped the truck, kids fine and i guess so is the wheelchair. )

Re: press on regardless

Read about the kid...

The Great Shrine...notes are kind of thin, but in spidery hand is recorded:

Great Shrine; of Saurid-Humanoid design; large and imposing.  Seemingly fronted by altar and in a low-lying area, ill-suited to the Tabaxi.  May not be an altar at all, but a monument, perhaps commemorating some Eshowe victory?

I think you can see I posted for Rand.  Anything you want to do is cool, but let's not bog down.  You're not Ivory Tower contemplators, you're men of Action!

Forgive my ignorance (and please enlighten me if I get this wrong) but "Saurid-Humanoid"   Does that mean Reptile like -maybe lizardfolk- kinda thing?

quote:
Ynvaar rolled 6 using 1d20+5. History check "Eshowe victory" longshot.
LOL>  Well I did say it was a longshot ;-)

And for Grom:  I assume the Great Altar is where we are heading, right bud?

Re: press on regardless

Hmm...I think that if you read the notes, you will have read the notes.  Unless you can ask the writer to explain, (IC!  Don't ask me, duh!  of course I know!) which you can't, but you could try a spell or earnest prayer, or something?  But I can't explain.  Let's ask Rand IC.

Re: press on regardless

The characters have previously seen a picture of the Eshowe back in the lost ziggurat we found a while back.  Does this help us at all?

DM FoxPaws:
The 60' hallway is capped at the far end by the ominiously carved doors deplicting the shadows of Eshodow doing combat with the tribes of Ubato.

As for asking Manayu IC... Many a true word said in jest good DM, for the author is but a Sending spell away...  *Grins*

lol!  Sending!  Brilliant! boy, would he be surprised...

The Eshowe were a human ethnicity.  In RL terms, more asiatic than negroid, and as such discernable from the Tabaxi.

Re: press on regardless

talk about getting hooked, wondered why the harry Potter series was so hot, so last week went to the library and got the first one now iam finishing off the 6th one, a little surprised at the turn it made here.
I read that alot of smaller book stores wont even carry the Harry Potter release's because they cant match the low prices the bigger outfits can offer.

Also we'll have to start another OCC thread soon.  Everyone ok with that?
