Chult: More friends to be found..(Daemon)

Heading off into the jungle it is not long before you come to the same crossroads that our companions arrived at just the day before (survival check to find what way they went) one path leads off into the jungle, a safer journey to the healers camp, if somewhat longer.  Or there is the river passage that can be followed for a day or so, cutting off several days from the other route, before turning into the jungle.

'Now which way did those others go?  Matters little, I wouldn't be able to do much.  Well, I'll just walk on.'  Daemon looks around the crossroads for any clues of their whereabouts before moving on into the jungle with a mall smile on his face and humming some mysterious tune all the way.

If I can't find anything, I'll just go through the jungle.  If I can, I'll follow that path.

Re: Chult: More friends to be found..(Daemon)

Turning towards the river path it is not to hard to make out the steps of recent travellers.  From the rarity of anyone ventureing into the deep jungle, by either route, it is not hard to surmise that this is your group of travellers.  Trekking throughout the afternoon you eventually come to a gruesome sight, the shredded carcus of a giant croc, its body picked almost clean by preditors lies on the river band.

give me another survival check for jungle disease and another track check to make sure you continue the path

ooc sorry Daemon, I'm going to rush you through this to try to catch the group by morning....your elven slight should help you go deeper into the jungle than the humans did.

Daemon chuckles as he sees the dead reptile and inspects it a bit before continuing on.  'Well, well.  Seems as if someone got into a bit of trouble.  How can I add this into that stanza?'  Daemon walks on, absently composing the poem in his head.  Might as well do something while walking, right.

[Private to DM FoxPaws: Well, since I'm not exactly cut out for trecking through the jungle (a -1 modifier for survival), I just hope you won't kill me before I get there.

Re: Chult: More friends to be found..(Daemon)

An old cough long thought beaten seems to be returning, its this damn humidity in this damn jungle.  Inspecting the dead croc you notice that the foot prints seem to head into the jungle from here...an odd place to head inland, but all the same you continue to follow them into the deep unknown.  Its not far before you start to think its time to either find a place to stop for the evening, or press on into the darkness.

[Private to Daemon: I've dropped an antitoxin into your pack, take it after you get to the group for a better chance at beating off sickness.]

Re: Chult: More friends to be found..(Daemon)

'Goof thing I had a rest before I got to town.  But still, it is a bit tiring.  What to do, what to do.'  Daemon debates what to do: keep going or to stop for the night.  Either way, he didn't have a light and it would be safer to keep moving than to stay while the Batiri decide which part of the body is most vulnerable.  Daemon keeps moving, fighting off the lack of sleep and takes a bottle and some food from his pack, drinking and eating a meager dinner while following the path the group left behind.

[Private to DM FoxPaws: Okay, added a bit of antitoxin in my wine and drank it down.  Should be enough.]

being careful and keeping a sharp ear out for any night preditors you are able to keep pretty much safe, exept for wandering through a brief swarm of stirge you spend most of the night marching safely before coming to a point that is just to much to continue further.  Looking at the tracks you figure you are only a few hours behind the previous group now, and should be able to reach them by evening tomorrow if you keep a brisk pace.  You figure you have about 6 hours til morning and its time for a light sleep.

Re: Chult: More friends to be found..(Daemon)

Daemon loooks around the clearing he's wandered into and takes off his vest and bandoleer.  His belt and sword s come off only seconds afterward andhis hand wanders to his harp.  A slow, sad tune fills the air and Daemon adds his wonderful baritone to the music, and it isn't long before the song puts him to sleep.  With the harp still in hand, it looks as if he might sleep a bit longer than a few hours.

Re: Chult: More friends to be found..(Daemon)

The night passes with few troubles, although you do awaken covered in welts and bite marks...the stinging insects are just as you remember them from your last trip through the jungle.  Your drought of wine and antitoxin seems to be working however, as you awaken with only a slight fever...one that surely would have been worse without it.

ooc: no restrictions from the fever, but you will have to slow down a bit today...it'll be eveing before you catch the next group....hopefully they'll survive thier evening and rest of day as well as you seem to be.

Re: Chult: More friends to be found..(Daemon)

Daemon awakes, surprised that his harp is still in his hands, and not that surprised of the bites and bumps.  Daemon puts his vest back on after taking a long gulp of the water from his waterskin and his bandoleer and belt are back on his chest and waist, respectively.  Harp back over his shoulder, Daemon shrugs off the fever and continues traveling the path to what he hopes is the other group.  If it isn't, well he had his sword, didn't he?

[Private to DM FoxPaws: Daemon'll do what you suggest.]

Re: Chult: More friends to be found..(Daemon)

Walking along the slight jungle trail you can't help but notice the shambling forms walking along ahead of you, 3 of them.  The stench of decay prevades from them, washing back over you.  They seem to be heading somewhere, not wandering the jungle randomly hunting, but heading somewhere, with a purpose.

Re: Chult: More friends to be found..(Daemon)

Daemon follows the mounds.  It is unclear if he's following them, or just walking the trail, but he seems determined to stay quiet and to at least keep some distance away from them.  His hand moves to his harp, but after some thought, he rests his hand on the hilt of his sword.

[Private to DM FoxPaws: That's the problem with doing cumpulsion/mind affecting spells; they don't do damage and they only work on humans (and common races).  Combat or discovery?]

Re: Chult: More friends to be found..(Daemon)

The zombies continue to shamble along, they seem to be heading somewhere, though you are unsure where, after a few hours of you slowly following them they turn from the path to head into the jungle.  Soon you come to a small area of the jungle that looks to have seem a large battle.  To the side is a small mound, a burial mound perhaps?  You also see the scattered remains of quite a few dead goblins, they corpses scattered by animals, thier bodies stripped of anything of value.  Continueing past this area, before anything else comes for the easy meal of dead goblin, your day seems to progress fairly quietly.

OOC: My next post for you will be in the main tread for everyone.  If you'd like to check things out with the posts I've put in here let me know.
