Re: Psionics: The Labyrinth
Schnickle surveyed the cave entrances of the Labyrinth with apprehension. Neblheim wasn't too far away; he could always go back if he needed to. And he wanted to.
It would be good to see home again, and greet his family and friends; tell them everything he'd seen and done. He'd even helped killed a Mind Flayer. And he had to tell the elders about the new Illithid city.
He wanted to go home, he had to. But he dared not.
If returned back along the secret paths of the Labyrinth, he might be tracked or spotted by Minotaurs, or Drow, or even the Mind Flayers. Too great was the risk.
And the information he had wasn't enough. Yes, Neblheim seemed completely unheard of to the rest of the 'dark. But he knew too little about the new threat, the Illithids. It wasn't enough to risk a return. He needed more information, their whereabouts of the city, the plans of the Mind Flayers. He had to do it himself, much to his dismay.
He couldn't go back. Certainly not with these not-Svirfs in tow. If he did go into the Labyrinth, he'd have to lead them far from his home city.
