Psionics: Outside the temple

Outside the temple, Deepwalker and a group of minotaurs battle the illithid's guard thralls to give the others a chance to sneak into the settlement.
Deepwalker lead the charge, with a vicious psychokinetic shockwave that opened up a hole in the guards defense line. The minotaurs seem to be taking full advantage...

Deepwalker wades into his foes.  His increased size and strength making short work of the many foes.
[Private to DM Daniel: Deepwalker's strategy is simple.  Use a move action to set his psionic focus, use a 3 point power attack, and use psionic weapon.  If he drops a foe he uses Ceave if he can to attack a second one which shouldn't be a problem as he's now large and has reach.  This means he also gets OoA against any creature that moves from 10ft to 5ft range.
Active Powers are Force Screen, Animal Affinity, and Expansion
Current AC with Force Screen 23
+8 to Hit
3d8 +16 to Damage
Extra 2d6 Damage for Psionic Weapon

The minotaurs begin to carve a wide swath through the defending forces, losing only a few of their number. Soon, however, the controlled minotaurs begin to turn the tide; it is clear that they are exceptionally tough even by minotaur standards.

Deepwalker bursts into action, his flail leaving a trail of broken bodies as it moves in a blur around him. He stops suddenly in the centre of the clear area he has created, finding the mental balance he needs to cause such devastation. Just as the troglodytes get the courage to attack the immobile giant, he bursts into action once more, crushing them under a weapon nearly as big as they are.


By the time thirty seconds has passed, most of the combatants on both sides have fallen; the minotaur leader is locked in a furious struggle with the largest of the lizardfolk; and there is still no sign of the illithid defenders you had expected.

The massive lizardfolk sends the minotaur leader crashing to the floor with a thunderous blow, and looks poised to finish him off when deepwalker charges towards him.

[Private to Deepwalker: Make your attacks for a charge vs AC 22 if you want to interfere - If you kill this one off, you will be the last man standing - everyone else has been injured badly.

If you are leaving ROA (as I heard some rumors of) let me know when you plan to drop out of the game and I'll have Deepwalker die doing something heroic.

Deepwalker charges the lizardman and misses him as he sidesteps the charge.  Turning Deepwalker holds his flail until his knuckles turn white and waits for his foe to come to him.

The giant reptile steps aside as Deepwalker rushes at him, slashing out with razor-sharp claws that dig straight into the flesh. (13 damage)

Deepwalker is ready for combat. First he uses a move action to try to set his psionic focus but the pain of his wounds prevents him from doing so.  He then smashes the lizard man with his flail using the reach granted to him by his size.

Rolled a 2 for Initiative
Rolled a 13 to set psionic focus to it failed
Rolled a 24 to hit for 33 points of damage.


[Private to DM Daniel: Don't know what happened when I rolled damage the first time but it rolled a 1d20 instead of 3d8.  If the lizard man doesn't have reach Deepwalker gets an AoO when he comes in.]

The lizardfolk sees a gap in Deepwalkers defenses and tries to dash forward, but Deepwalker is far faster than he had anticipated. The flail spins around once more, crushing the reptilian creatures skull into mush.

Deepwalker drops to one knee and concentrates on his wounds and they close up somewhat.

Rolled a 7 for Body Adjustment

Once done he stands up and heads for the temple urging the surviving minotaurs to follow.

The temple is deserted and dusty inside - there is no sign of the svirf party that entered less than a minute ago. A spattering of blood seems to be oozing out from under the altar, as if there is something beneath it.

Seeing the blood Deepwalker encourages the minotaurs to bust the alter to bits to kill whatever is below it.  While the minotaurs do that Deepwalker searches the temple for the rest of the group.

There is no sign of the group, but once the altar is smashed a tunnel is revealed beneath it. It will be a tight squeeze for any of you, but you can make it through.

In the tunnel is the body of a mind flayer with a bloody stump in place of a head.

The tunnel comes out into a city-chamber which has several buildings inside. There are a few umber hulk thralls crawling around the inside of the chamber, but they appear to be ignoring you.

The central building of the town appears to have had some sort of magical hole conjured in it.
