Megumi is the child of one of the many Japanese war brides and her Jewish American soldier husband. After the war he became an expert on certain aspects of nuclear energy. Megumi was born in 1948.

Over the years she has moved and sought to find herself. She always loved art and had a small career in Japan mainly taking commissions for larger statues. It was good money but, ultimately, unfulfilling. So, she travelled the world and ended up in Tel Aviv. Since then she has expanded into painting and clothing design. As far as the world is concerned she is a youthful looking artist, one who is very vague about things such as her age. Well, mainly her age.

Friends know more, of course. That she's been stuck at 20 for 21 years now, and she can't have children when she always wanted. She doesn't talk much about what happened, but it clearly affected more than just her body. She also has a tendency to blurt out uncomfortable truths and prophesies that will come to fruition.

Sheikh Tariq is well known in his Jaffa neighborhood as the kindly, middle-aged Uncle type who runs a local Teahouse and coffee shop. Aside from delicious drinks and sweets, Tariq is where people go for traditional medicine or a Ruqiya, Islamic exorcism.

Spiritually minded people come to him for his frequent Sufi Dhikr ceremonies, which are well attended affairs. Participants come away with a calm, euphoric feeling, with spiritual and physical pains aliviated. He has a core of assistants who help lead the hours long marathons of prayer, chanting, song, dance, and poetry. Tariq has yet to become famous as a teacher outside of the region, keeping a relatively low profile, though some foreigners do get word of him and travel to meet him.

The Sheikh is a pillar of the community, keeping good relationships with community leaders, but never taking a political role himself.

Freddie has a RV that is obviously not what it appears to be, as well as a "laptop" that seems to be a control system for it (or something).

August is connected to the Order of Hermes, and is an Alchemist, not a mage.

He seems to be on a permanent vacation as he lives on a 100 foot yacht, the MY Buckshee, that travels around the Mediterranean, spending a week or two at a port then moving on.

Rumor is he makes his money selling life extending elixirs to a select clientele.
