Character creation

Everybody starts at first level.

All races and classes on core are allowed.

Kits from the complete series and the 2e Players guide to Greyhawk and From the Ashes Players handbook are ok, but lets not get crazy with variant races and lets not get near the custom classes nor the skills and powers books.

From the starting region, your native language is bound to be Suloise if you are human.

Scores:
Roll 3d6 seven times and discard the lowest one. All sets are pooled in here and you can pick any set you want

[13,12, 9, 5, 5, 5]
[15, 8,10, 8,10,10]
[14,10,12, 9,12,14]
[11,15,13, 9,12, 7]
[17,12,11,11, 8, 8]
[ 8,10,10,12,12,14]
*House Rule 1: Cast using arcanist style. You prepare your spells for the day (1 spell per slot) but you can choose which ones to cast using your slots on the fly.
*House Rule 2: For Demihumans, level limits don't apply if you are single classed.

Remember that technically, Forgotten Realms & Oerth are connected through Spacejammer & Planescape. So it is possible that other Demi-Human Deities could have followers on different planets

Brandobaris (Lesser God) This is the god of adventure (and misadventure), a favorite among halfling adventurers (especially thieves). He has a bawdy sense of humor and little sense of propriety. Brandobans is always ready with a joke or a jug, yet he is such a friendly rapscallion that he rarely makes an enemy. He is a good friend of Gar1 Glittergold and Baervan Wildwanderer. Avatar: In avatar form Brandobaris appears as a plump and jolly halfling. He's always very well-dressed and ready with a smart reply to any attempt at conversation.

Cool, thank you I just had to double check.   Dirk is fleshed out except starting gold which I will roll for soon - I have to pull up the PH.  If I missed anything let me know.

F/M is hopefully done.

Memory is slowly coming back, I just hope I didn't run afoul of any old house rules we used to have in my group (eg. max HP at 2st level, and I know we had a house rule on starting spells for arcane casters).

Wizards Spell Compendium Volume I, has the rules for starting spellbooks on page 8.

Briefly summarizing it, it says.

All Wizards know "Read Magic" for its impossible to unlock the meaning of arcane magical scripts without this basic key.

Likewise all wizards know "Detect Magic", a basic tool of their trade.

Other spells are divided into "Offensive, Defensive, and Miscellaneous spells. If wizards start with 6 spells, the player receives one roll on each column, with a second roll on the column of his or her choice.

Specialist Wizards get one additional spell, chosen from the specialty school, as a class benefit.

Mystrul's Magical Aura, Tenser's Floating disk, and other named 1st level spells must be located in play, they cannot be chosen, even if the player otherwie has free spell selection.

There is also the 3d4 Method, which is rolling 3d4 for the number of 1st level spells. The player rolls 3d4 and subtracts 2 from the roll to represent "Read Magic, and Detect Magic". The remaining number is the number of rolls taken onthe appropriate spellbook chart.

The charts are in the Wizards Compendium. I can post them if the DM wants to go this route.

I'm going with Helethorn.

Short background story is, he was growing up in Celene when his parents just grew up and left one day. He's operating under the assumption that they were exiled for some unspeakable crime his parents committed and he's trying to make up for it. If you want the truth to be different that's fine with me. Surprise me; otherwise it's mostly a good reason to be an upright adventurer.

Some of his original schooling would have happened in Celene but he's local to the Wild Coast now.

PS.

If you're considering assigning spells at random I'm fine with that but unless I can get my hands on Armor (or Shield in a pinch) I'll have to do some retooling.

i like alot of what i read, do read magic and detect magic count against the total spells that can be known via intelligence?

in my opinion not allowing tensers disc and other such spells makes them unplayable for a low level wizard. but with the ability to use them at will if i have the slots, these other useful spells can be in play for the party's benefit. that being said, as a wizard for my part im fine with however the dm plays it
