I have shifted people around between groups and added another post to a group that none of you are in.  Any flags?

This is probably my last action for the night -  it is 11pm here and I will be off to bed shortly.

No flag posted for me. So far we haven’t hit the glitch.

In my real games, the false flag is reporting most significantly on just one game with 12 players, 15 NPCs,, 30-40 threads (notices & posts), but only 5-6 open ones, Wiki, and GM runs a couple of players and all the NPCs.

Most of the smaller games (fewer players and threads and no Wiki) have not been having any problems.

I am not sure that size will be a factor -  I just closed down a game that makes that set up look quite small.  While I was using the Old interface, a number of the players were using phones and the reactive interface as their main method of access.  I'll try adding a few more players, threads and NPCs to the game though.

I got a proper flag from the two posts in Group 1.

Keep an eye out for new glitches in that game.  Jase has made some good sounding tweaks

Interesting- flag for this game triggered w/i the last 1/2 hour of this post. Both threads had new post notifications too.

None of these should have triggered - there were no new posts. Almost as if the flags reset for the game.

Note: I saw this on a couple of other games earlier tonight - all the threads were reset as if I was a new player who had not read any of the threads previously.  Assume part of the tweaks are resetting all flags system wide.

Added more players and NPCs.  Added a wiki  (that you guys can edit to help fill it up).  A new group B (that none of you are in) with posts by characters who share groups with you, and started some language groups.

Tell me if you have any false flags from those.


I have had the 'full reset' in the past -  but that didn't happen in any of my games this morning  (range of devices and browsers).  Jase's last post in the development thread implies he is aware of that as a 'cookie reset' thing.

TBH, I haven't creted new pages on an RPoL wiki for a while.  I never had enough flexibility for the stuff I wanted to post for my games.  Even now, I set up a wiki for the game I co-GM -  but still have a lot of stuff on  a different website.

I'll see if I can  work out some permissions and techniques for it.

However, I assume that means you didn't get any false flags from the stuff I did this morning.

I added links for two new pages, but haven't created the pages.  You could try putting something into those.

Did you try creating pages    [[new page4]]  might do it, if you haven't tried previously.

It looks like you created links to pages but not the pages themselves?  I have only ever updated existing pages in the past as my games don't have Wikis.  But no false flags.

I have seen flags today, but they appear to only be from the new post in one of the groups that I'm in, so they feel legit.

Later today, I'll go back and check over what I did initially to generate a false flag -  and see if we have done everything individually.  However, it may be that Jase's tweaks have already fixed the problem.

Anybody still getting false flags in other games?

I actually haven't seen any except the usual 'I switched between the desktop and phone' occasional false flag, since jase started working on things.

And come to think of it, I -usually- get an across the board 'new message' indicator on PMs on the desktop if I've checked them on my phone, and I haven't seen those in the past day or two either, which is nice. Looks like some of the fixes are working.

I am still hearing reports of GM manipulation popping games back up, but since jase says that's working as intended, it's obviously not false even though it is weird. And honestly, something that I'm thinking about making a request that he change, because it feels like the sort of thing that could create some bad blood between players and GMs. Imagine that as a GM, you've got a game that everyone abandoned and it's been moldering around for a while, and you want to repurpose it, so you start removing the lingering players...

...and the first player you remove generates a new message flag and pops the game back up for the others. Who then think the game is active again, just in time for them to be removed too. Feels wrong, somehow. But that's a suggestion for when he's not busy dealing with things that are broken with responsive.

Why bother repurposing it?  Just delete and start a new one - it is less effort.

And, TBH, if that does pop something up for players who have abandoned the game and are shortly going to be removed from it -  what's the problem?  They now know they have been removed from it.  Do you get the impression  that I am much more of a DM than a player,  and that I have little sympathy for those players who just stop posting and don't tell me they want to leave the game?   They screw up the game for me,  their posting partners and the greater adventuring group as we fiddle around their absence.   *grin*   There would be no bad blood between me and those players  :)  They just don't play in my games again.

Other than having all threads reset as unread in every game 1x in the last 3 days, I have not had any false flags in any regular games in the 24-36 hrs.

Now. One interesting note: in those games where all threads flagged, looking in just one of those threads appeared to have turned OFF the flags in the remaining threads. Not a normal result if there are new posts in multiple threads, but maybe this is expected with Jase’s reset of caches.

But no random false flags showing up on the Home page recently for my 5 active games!

Ok.  Lets go on hold for a bit, and see if we get reports of strange flags from games.

RPoL has always given better, and more sensible, notifications than Facebook  :)  Apart from the full reset, and the very occasional false flag, I really haven't had many problems with flags and cookies over the years.
