from olds ends to new beginings FF>>

The light in the chamber seems to fluctuate slightly, almost in perceptually, and the slight breeze now seems to carry a voice upon it, thought that too is so slight that you feel your ears might be playing tricks on you. Whispers in a tongue that is foreign to you but in a soft melodic tone. You can all notice that Shih is very interested in what is happening in the room at a deeper level than you have seen him in a long time.

While the wind seems to rustle everyone else's hair, Shih is absolutely still.  It's not normal, but then again, little about him remains so.  His eyes suddenly return to their solid pink color as he concentrates fully on the task at hand.

Ssrivan is still looking at the grains of sand in his hand to see how similar they are.

eyes to be opened

The chamber takes on a different appearance.  The ceiling starts to darken and smaller pin points of light come into view like so many tiny stars appearing at the days end.  They seem to move slightly and begin to form patterns that you recognize from earlier in your journey when you spent some time in the moon over Tekumel.  The sand in the center of the room seems to go cold in appearance as it turns to a dark shade of green.  Small nodes rise in the sand and some areas begin to recess into what you believe to be a topographical map of sorts.  You recognize the area from around Monru in the sand as it is represented and the chamber holding the Azure Sphere is very pronounced, even so much so that there is a deep blue glow within the sand.  On the opposite side of the room there is a crimson glow under the sand and finally an Emerald glow in yet a third place. What has caused this?  Why this fashion? This is nothing like the mapping stones in the case you possess nor is it like anything that you have seen before, and yet you have some understanding of view and the intent.

Re: eyes to be opened

Ssrivan starts from his examination of the sand in his hands as the room changes.  He notes the position of the glowing areas and looks carefully at the emerald glow in the sand, noting a path along the wall that will bring him closest to that spot without disturbing the gigantic cartography stone that is the current surface of the room.

"Shih, it would be best to approach along the periphery of the room, as I suspect that the energies maintaining the floor's current shape would be painful to fatal to those wandering into the wrong areas."

Ssrivan suits action to words and begins to move along the edge of the room with his scribe in tow.

Re: eyes to be opened

Shih, knowing better than to argue with the gestalt master, follows Ssrivan exactly.  Hopefully, there is no additional pattern that they are missing.

Re: eyes to be opened

Ssrivan picks his way carefully towards the enchanting green glow, moving along the periphery of the room until his view of it and its surroundings is as clear as it can get when observed from a safe position near the wall.  His eyes will drink in every detail of that he passes, as it is possible that they will trigger some memory to link into further patterns.  The ancients who built these spaces loved patterns almost too much, so much so that they become our guides long after their makers have moved on to their own versions of eternal reward.

Slowly but surely ... step by step ... Tekumelyani micron by micron ... Shih ponders the gradual decay of the sand in the room, sensing it on some inner level like a momentary glimpse of an eon.

Shih ponders Ssrivan's footstep in the sand.  The ridge in the sole of shoe makes each footprint look like a fish.  An odd thing to consider while traversing a sandy room, but there it is. :D

Ssrivan looks to see if he too is leaving small fish prints in the sands. . .

Re: eyes to be opened

One fish, two fish, green fish, blue fish you think to yourself in some sort of obscure rhyme and you watch as the marks left by your sandals seem to slip towards the center of the room. No! it is not an illusion the sand is actually moving towards the center ,being pulled at the changing patterns need more of the silicate to create new and interesting patterns and cartographical references. “How many fish will it take” you wonder? Will it require more than just the floor to create what it needs?

Dlarumei motions towards the green glowing hallway with her fingers, you can sense the urgency in her command.  Looking behind her you can see many of the part still slowly making their way towards you though they are quite the distance and they seem to get further away the more they try to advance.  You move, stepping lively, tight to the wall and hunkered down in a most uncomfortable position. The sand at your feet tugs like the current of a small stream slipping past the toes of your sandals.  Now, perhaps only but five scant feet from the hallway’s entrance you see the wall above the hallway move! It’s a door! A heavy stone slipping down into the opening which will soon block the passage for you.  A quick glance around at the other openings would tell you the same story, and the rest of your party sees the same distressing event unfold.

Urutlen notches an arrow quickly and fires across the chamber to one of the open doors. The arrow is consumed by the vortex of sand in the center of the room. He then fires five more arrows in rapid succession, so quickly that it is hard to believe that he didn’t just shoot them all at once. Two of the arrows make it through and you can see he is contemplating something. Jenge, at the very back of the line, shouts something not intended for the three of you and turns and bolts for the blue passageway closest to him. Nesh and Deshnah leap after him and run full tilt in that direction, staying somewhat close to the walls side. Almodhim and Churisan confer with Urutlen as you turn to reach your emerald entrance. Dlarumei, pushing you forward with all her might, almost tripping over you, her muscles straining to get to the doorway, is most anxious. Though she does not speak you can see the stress on her face and the determination in her eyes.

The three of you run, full tilt towards your destination.  Leaping through the passageway with great effort to beat the stone door before it seals you in the chamber. When the door hits the floor its vibration makes you tingle and the sound is defiantly final, all noise is sealed in the chamber as well and the silence feels odd in your ears.  You are basking in a green glow produces by, what appears to be some sort of plant or stone or….  You are not sure what it is and it almost has a liquid appearance to it as well. The walls are smooth and cold to the touch and you lean against them to settle your spinning head.
