Avahur at Academy

You wake from wild dreams of candy-cane soldiers trying to induct you into their army, but failing because the paperwork keeps sticking to their bodies...

And eventually, you lay on your back to relax while the soldiers argue, and you realize in truth you are on your back, and you do smell a peppermint odor.  Its coming from the smooth concrete floor beneath your fingers, a faint waft of peppermint mixed with the harshness of a cleaning chemical.

With your eyes shut, you can tell its dark where you're at, and you feel fear of that other place race into you.  But you also hear the very loud whine of a turbine.

I open my eyes get a feel for my surrounding and attempt to heal myself to make myself feel better, I make sure everythigns with me and I get up hand on sword trying to sort through whats happening/happened.

Re: Avahur at Academy

OOC:

What is "this"?  This world, this game?

How and why is this starting to sound "stupid"?

Why did you verse out in the previous world; is that what you are asking?  The reason is that I gave you multiple hints that you were depleting your resources of food, and liquid, and ability to stay awake.  You kept on pushing yourself.  Eventually, your resources ran out, and something ate you.

Rather as if you were hiking across a dessert without a water bag.

The game is designed to change worlds.  I do tend to tilt the odds to change worlds toward the more likely when I think the player, or the gm is bored, or when a mission is accomplished.  But in truth, your tactic in the last world was doomed to fail no matter how I tilted the odds.  Is that unfair? In a sense, yes.  You had a reasonable assumption that there would be a door out.  But fairness is only a secondary consideration.  This game, like life, may reward a reasonable strategy with failure.

Of course, you're not the only one who has failed.  My character nearly toppled a galactic empire, but failed because he tried to be too kind in his effort.  If I had been more ruthless, I would probably have succeeded.

If you are asking why you change worlds so often, its largely because of your playing style, and your perceived playing style.  You seem to like uber-violent settings, and to prefer violence.  This naturally has the effect of getting oneself killed off fairly rapidly.  If you want a less violent world, then I can work on that for your next world.

If committing suicide to get out of a world bothers you, and you still want to leave a particular world, then I can certainly arrange an accident.  This is not a problem.

IC:  You feel fine physically.  Mentally, the dark still has its claws in you, and you suspect you may have added some nightmares to come haunt you.

You rise to your feet in a dimly lit theatre auditorium.  You're in between a row of theatre fold-up chairs.

On the stage is a man in front of a tank-sized machine. A spiralling field of glimmnering matter hangs in front of the field, pulsing in time to the whining of the electric turbine.  The man, walks over to the turbine, and pushes some levers on it.  The whine rises higher.

Re: Avahur at Academy

OoC: ok "this" was referring to the world, the way you worded it was.. it sounded like it would be rather boring, I always give it (the world) a chance.

ok, you explained why I versed out, thats good, and I am fine with that.

I wasn't questioning why I changed worlds so much, I enjoy it, it gives me a chance to do a "hit-and-run" tactic as Jhiaxus or Misty or someone pointed out to me in the OoC board once, or it might have been somewhere else but whatever.  I was just wondering why I switched.  I, from reading other games you have gm'd, notice that sometime you switch midworld or it was for like a part b of the world.  perhaps the player died, but like this time, I didn't think it was evident, you just said that I am going to a new world without explaining how I died, or anything, I didn't like that, hence the question.
Oh, adn I do enjoy the more violent worlds, I won't get bored, peace in general pisses me off to some degree, mostly the reason I hate my english class, everyone there is too altruistic, and it annoys me to the point where sometimes I wish they would just drop dead to shut em up.. when people are too altruistic it pisses me off more than anyone can understand.

Commiting suicide to get out of a world doesn't bother me, I haven't had to do it yet and don't plan to, I'd rather just ask the GM to kill me off, so I can switch.

IC:  I walk over to the man standing in front of the machine and as I walk over, keeping my left hand on my sword hilt and my  right hand about 3 inches away from it, but still ready to grab it, I approach him cautiously.  When I get closer I will ask him, "Who are you? and Where am I?"

Re: Avahur at Academy

OOC:  I did not tell you how you died because you fell asleep, and were killed as you slept.  You never woke up.

I'm not sure the way you use the word 'altruism' is the way I use the word.  I'm profoundly in favor of courtesy, and respecting your own and others human dignity.  However, I'm also in favor of having your own viewpoint which is human freedom.  If your English class is 'consensus' and 'everyone must agree' then I can understand being upset with them.

It does sound like you might like Libertarian politics.  Ayn Rand made 'altruism' out to be a curse word...some brilliant thinking, but of course, she was kinda nuts, too.

Also, I've asked Jhiaxus to take over running this game.  He's switching with me for another game.  He should be along shortly.

And do bear in mind, Jhiaxus is 1)Much more knowledgeable about the rules, and much clearer on using them.  2)Hackmaster Wurld Champion.

So since you've asked for a lack of peace, and you hate altruism, I'd hang on to whatever you can.

OoC: Ok, Jhiaxus would be an interesting GM, and yeah umm this'll be fun, peace is ok sometimes, kinda of like a short reprieve from chaos, like R and R after a mission, but in extended periods, with nothing exciting or anything happening, like meeting a shepard or something...it bugs me.

::the man turns nervously and quickly, he is wearing a white lab coat, with a headband with a shiney circle just over his eye, his white hair looks frazzled, as does the rest of him, he has the look of the lost in his eyes::

::he laughs::

"Oh goodie, you are just in time, I need a good assistant, I've been working on my greatest work for weeks now non stop, I am just about ready to proceede with the experiment"

::he looks at your weapon::

"Put that away, were not even at phase 2 yet, we won't need to remove limbs on a test subject untill we get phase 1 operational"

::he is hunched over what looks to be a bunch of hydrolics and circuits, in front of the tank like thing and the turbines, there is also a pile of weapons taken apart beside it::

"Woah hold up doc, now before I assist you, could you please inform me on what you are working on and what is to occur in each phase, then should I put away my weapon is of my own choosing, but for now start talking."

I continue ready to draw my weapon but also get ready to pull out my pistol and start shooting should I see no way of getting to him fast enough.  I'll see how it turns out, so it'll be pistol if I can't get in close enough and sword if I can.

Re: Avahur at Academy

::looks at you funny::

"No, No, No, those weapons you have aren't suitable for a tank, but I appreciate the help, my grand vision is a symphony of death, with these arms as the Opus. They are too small for the tank, but then again, we have to test them to see how deadly they are right"

::starts mumbling incoherently::

::sighs::

"Ok I see you are one of those types, well this tank, who I have lovingly nicknamed BOOMER, short for Blastasteel Organicarmor Optimized Microtronicbrain Energized Rover, will be the future. I see it killing people in all parts of the world, and it's fully artifical intelligent. The first 17 attempts might have been failures, but each time with each death, I have learned and adapted it. All I need to to is flip this switch to give it life."

::smiles::

"It still needs armorments, so that's where the arm comes in. If the human sized arm proves sucessful, then I can scale it to fit on BOOMER."

::pauses::

"Muahahahahahahahahahahahhahhahahahah"

Re: Avahur at Academy

I approach the man thinkin to myself,

This guy is insane, eh if his plan didn't include me possible dieing I might have helped.  I have died plenty of times, but I think I shall try and see how this world will turn out before I do something either stupid or intentional to get out, hopefully I wont starve again, that wasn't a friendly experience.

As I approach I am going to put my pistol away and conserve the 1 and half clips of ammo I have, and take out my SMG, of which has 4 clips of ammo, and start firing at the guy moving closer, then after roughly half the clip is gone, stop firing, put the gun away, and charge with an upward vertical/horizontal slash from my sword ((from like an 8 oclock poistion to 2 oclock position when looking at a clock)) and hit him from his upper thigh into and probably through his ribcage pushing with my other hand on the back of the sword to push it through when it meets resistance, then take it out after it stop and lunge up and an angle though his jaw and into his brain, and if he is one of those psychos that won't be dead yet, then, take it out and slash his head off...actually I'll do it anyway just in case. After that a good kick to get him on the ground and a stab into the gut.  That should kill him.

Of course, even if my plan is good I will have to be ready to improvise should something go wrong between each step, sure they will be a big fluid motion but just incase...

((the bad news is the diceroller hates you, the good news is the other GM's can see I'm not fudging the rolls :P))

::the scientist seems to know he is about to die and flips the switch next to him turns around fully as you level the SMG at him and unload the clip, dust and papers fly, and for a few seconds, there is a cloud which you can't see, you are coughing, and you can him to the same, when the cloud clears he does a Pulp Fiction look at himself and the wall, and he didn't get touched.

::you try to quickdraw your sword, and it gets caught in the sheaf, but comes out normal speed, the scientest, grabs a weapon from the desk, just as you divide him with your ninja-to, the object drops from his hands, and just as it hits the floor, you think "It's a grenade::

::you feel the white hot flash of explosian as you get blasted out of there, you come to and quickly use your healing device which prevents you from bleeding out and heals you a bit, you are still very, very hurt::

::you hear the generator whine, and machinery move, and BOOMER is coming to life::

Re: Avahur at Academy

I cocentrate like never before trying to do a steady stream of healing, and if that fails I attempt to heal myself a little bit and lather rinse and repeat then run out of there through any exits if any (( after quickly glancing around)) if there aren't any around I run beind BOOMER and jump on top and keep balance as best I cne by staying out of anything that can fire and keeping it so it can't get to me until I can think of any other possibilities.

::the pain wracking your body makes it hard to concentrait, and you do not feel you grasp the concept of healing, you try again, but without further instruction or a change in circumstance, you feel it would be in vein::

::you look around and there is a door and a cargo door, both with a numberical keypad on them, BOOMER is beginning power up sequence, and you limp over and climb onto the turret/head of the tank, just as he powers up, the turret turns all about the room, then centers on the cargo door, and a blast of superheated plasma ejects from the barrel, melting the door and the surrounding walls. Alarms sound, the sprinklers turn on, and BOOMER is off heading for the door at a speedy 40mph::

I stay on BOOMER and take out my sniper, take aim, and fire at the keypad.

As soon as we reach the door I will suck up all the pain I feel and charge the other door, hoping that hitting it ((assuming I did)) will open it up.  ((if I missed, then ignore that and I simply stay on.))

::you set yourself up with the sniper rifle, take as best aim as you can moving at 40 mph, take a shot, it goes wide left, you line up again, your shot goes wider right, even military snipers need a tripod, a prone position and no wind to hit a target that small regularly.::

::BOOMER charges through the door, and into a hallway, you hear people screaming and jumping for cover, BOOMER targets their cover and fires, or attempts to, the shot fires about 3 seconds after initalizing shaking him, and two panels on the sides of the turret get jostled, and open up, the people behind the cover scrambled into a room, but it seems like the almost explosian opened up the RPG launchers on the sides of the turret, BOOMER rounds a corner, and sees a set of 50 foot doors and targets them, and they are slag as he pushes through::

::You see the outside of a facility in a mountain, and you see military vehicles surrounding the enterence, they shout orders, and one says "Target the guy controlling him"::

::deciding the fall is better than the bullets, you roll off the back of BOOMER, you try to land without hurting yourself, but it's just not happening. You land awkwardly on your leg, which promptly snaps in two, the last thing you see, is BOOMER launching a volley of missles against the soldiers, and firing it's cannon against the heavier vehicles::
