Vacation until Oct 1

I am sorry, but I'm getting burned out.  I already feel a little toasty around the edges, and so I'm going to take off until October 1, 2006 (I read that joke on the OOC thread about not specifying which Saturday..heh).

I am especially sorry because I have some relatively new players, but then I treasure the ones who have stuck with it through the length of it.

Be assured its not any problem with the people here.  I have been blessed with excellent gamers and goodly people, and I hope everyone comes back (or continues on here while I recharge--feel free to get some of the other GM's to take over the game world you're in if you like, and for Oak to continue with Jhiaxus, of course, and Krillis likewise...).

Its just that...well, a long time ago, I ran a Marvel Super Heroes game back when it was a One Chart System.  Ran it every Saturday night for five months.  Really enjoyed it, to the point where I'd be startled by the sunrise, but I also was sincerely ready to quit when I felt it got to the closing point in its story arc.  And this has happened to me since then as well.

Well, 1)I'm not so burnt as I was then. 2) Our stories aren't at the close of any arcs. 3) I'm going to try to come back.

Hopefully, I can use this time off productively.  Get reorganized as I've been trying to do for the last several weeks (with some success), and get Worldbook One and Two out the door so my conscience will quit reminding me of them.

Let me add, as I ramble on, some proof for being burnt out.  I went to Adventurcon about two months ago...and although I posted my willingness to run Multiverser, I didn't have any takers.  AND I WAS GLAD.

So please come back and check on October 1st (or just come in here every day and chat with your game buds--the door is open, of course.)  And thanks everyone for the wonderful games we've had so far.

Re: Vacation until Oct 1

PT, would you PM the write-ups of the game worlds currently in session, plus anything a GM would need to know about specific circumstances for the given games?  :)

Definitely no promises, but perhaps the remaining GMs can put our heads together, and see if anyone has the time and inclination to stand in for any of the games.  (And for that matter, if any of the orphaned players want a stand-in GM... :p ).

And for you orphaned players out there, would you please express your preference for having a GM sub during the vacation versus taking your own vacation?  :D

Re: Vacation until Oct 1

If you've got GM's and players for a particular game, then yes I can, at least to the extent that its possible.  Some like Alexis and Misty would be easy...I'd just download 25k words, and let the new GM read it.  Others, like Kate's I'd have to toss some barebones, and maybe some general advice (its based on a published world from one of the Multiverser Book of Worlds, and thats based on a book of fiction).  Tom's game is based on a 3,000 word article I wrote, and yours is still in a state of development--I've got a lot of stuff, upwards of ten thousand words, but its not all hung together correctly yet, and its being continually revised.

Of course, one solution is to verse out a character from a world, and put the character in a world one is more comfortable with running.

Yes, whatever you can throw together and PM would be great.  More info is better than less.

Then we all can put our heads together on preferences.

Your latter suggestion is certainly an interesting one.  Verse folks out into temp world(s), then verse them back on Oct 1.

Hmmmmm....  Maybe I should run a Toon gather world until Oct 1...  :)

And since Oct 1st is (internationally) Children's Day, and (locally) my birthday, what a celebration we could have when you come back!!!  :D

PT, take care of yourself.  We will all miss you.

I don't think I'm speaking out of turn when I say that Lexi and I wouldn't mind a replacement narrator/GM/pick-your-own-term while PT is taking some down time.

Also, Oak, if you're going to be doing a temp toon world and you happen to go anthromorphic on us, I'd like to put in a bid for "Gun Bunny", a heavily armed female rabbit who is very easy on the eyes.

PT, Thanks for all you've done here so far. I think I can honestly say that you are the best storyteller I've had in roleplaying yet.

I could tell you were having a hard time posting, so enjoy your vacation and be refreshed!

I'd like to stay in my current world right now too (I'm only there for two days yet!) but if it is allright to freeform it I might be able to perhaps take over a game. I don't know.

Nikolaj, the bare bones of the WW system are so simple that a 6 year old could run a game.  Getting into specifics, of course, it gets more complicated.  However, me and Krillis both run an extremely stripped down version (maybe other GMs, too, I dunno) since we prefer... well... simplicity... and we don't own WW.

I can understand totally needing to get away from it all for a while.  Have a great  restful break.  I am also ok with a substitute GM until you get back.  I also like the idea of a gathering in a toon universe if that's what everyone else wants to do.

Go enjoy life PT! We'll see you when you get back.

Re: Vacation until Oct 1

OK, after some behind-the-scenes brainstorming, here is the current plan for your kind consideration :) ...

I believe that trying to GM sub in different player's current worlds would be too much for me to handle, since it takes me too much time and energy to really get up to speed on each world at the level I prefer in order to GM it.

Therefore, I'm volunteering to run a Temp Toon Gather World for anyone who is interested, with the clear understanding that those players will have the option of returning to their current worlds with PT after finishing with me.  You will be transported out of your current world now, and will be able to return to the same place and time as you left in your current world when PT returns if you wish.

Meanwhile, Krillis (brave dyude that he is) is willing to try taking over as a GM sub for some limited number of folks who aren't interested in Toons and who do want to play during the vacation in their current worlds with a GM sub.  Krillis may be assisted by other GM sub volunteers (Malachai has also kindly expressed his willingness despite occasional struggles with burnout; and even Nikolaj has put his name in), if needed.

Therefore, we are offering the following PT vacation options to players:

(*) Option 1: Play in the Temp Toon Gather World, GMed by Oak, with the player option of returning to your current world when PT returns
(*) Option 2: Play in your current world, GM subbed by Krillis and/or Malachai and/or Nikolaj and/or etc...
(*) Option 3: Take your own vacation until PT returns  :)

So we need to know from each of you: which option are you interested in???

<strike>Folks choosing Option 1 -- please include in your response a PM to me with the answers to the following questions:

(A) What are your top five favorite cartoon characters?
(B) Would you rather play yourself as a non-animated character in an animated setting (like Who Framed Roger Rabbit), or an animated version?
(C) If the latter, do you want to play yourself (e.g. "Misty"), or be transformed into something else (e.g. "Gun Bunny")?
(D) Any setting preferences or anti-preferences?</strike>
EDIT: never mind, the game setting is already fixed!  But I do need to know what kind of animal you wish to be transformed into... :D

Please respond in this thread.  Many thanks!  :D

I've been talking with Lexi's player.  (Yes, we do plot against the GMs discuss possible tactics and actions.)  "Gun Bunnies" is now the name of the private detective/security consultant agency we would like to operate in the toon world.  I would still be Misty.  She would still be Alexis.  We would both be very attractive and heavily armed rabbits.  Lexi will be on soon, Oak, to confirm this.

BTW, I've found a few inages for you to get your imagination going.

I'm only interrested in a toon world play if the transfer is justified in my game. (and it just happened that I'd be asking docter Who(mever) if he knows a place to sleep, so something can go quite strange there ;))

And about the options I'll follow majority there. I can adjust to all I think.

Good news and bad news...

Playtester:
I don't like profanity, and I am not fond of vulgarity.

Worldwalker is a PG game, so we'll need to limit our Toons to a Jessica Rabbit level of vampishness and PG attire...  :p

Also, since you guys will be versing into this world, you won't start out with any pre-existing agency present there (although you can try to create one after you arrive).

HOWEVER, I can say with reasonable confidence that this game has some great potential, and that the poor folks who give it a miss will probably regret missing out.  In fact, I can say with reasonable confidence that you, Misty, will probably enjoy the premise of the game thoroughly...  :D

Does anyone want any hints while you ponder whether to join or not?  Or do you want to be completely surprised???  :o

I'd like to hold Eric's game, Darkstone, until he returns.  I think he was enjoying it and I think he will enjoy finishing it.  If anybody wants me to pick up a game that Eric was running, I'll try my best to continue it.  I have a tendency to stand out the outside, looking in, so sometimes don't really know what's going on.  I hope Eric returns in October with his creative juices flowing and with new ideas buzzing in his head.

Personally, I was planning on leaving the game due to lack of time before this. Rest well PT, but sadly our world will die before I finish what I had to do there.  By September, I'll be back in University, and that won't leave time at all for extra games in Rpol.

It's been fun while it lasted, but as everything in life, this must come to an end. I bid you... adieu! *bows and walks away*

Thanks for the welcome.

I'm late today for two reasons.  One good, one silly.

I went to the Lawrenceburg State Fair with the tykes, and they greatly enjoyed the Midway (although my youngest was somewhat upset that his slightly older brother got to go on more rides because of the height limits.)

Second reason, well, err, I thought tommorrow was Oct. 1st.  Blushes.

I'll get working on getting things on my front back going, and see how to integrate what I'm doing with what Oak's doing.

So now I need to get cracking.
