Post Ludum: Second Chance

This is a world based on an attempt at a novel I made.  It deals with the Singularity, and superhuman intelligence and whether humanity is ready for such power.  Its also an intelligence with some substantial flaws in it.

This is a world which would be interesting to drop Day in as well.  He played in "Singular Heroes" which was about someone trying the Buddha route to getting Humanity to achieve the Singularity without destroying themselves in the process.  And he seemed to play in that world as if he understood it better than I, the world's creator did.  So "Second Chance" could be interesting for him.

I didn't dwell as much as I'd like on the planet's situation, but I was also gaming at the outer edge of my abilities to hang on to this wild thing so this was definitely a playtest.  I still haven't written up this world.

One neat part of this world was that it was a trap for Oak. Oak has a tendency to ask a lot of questions. Logical, thorough questions. Well, being a superintelligence and surviving is in some part about knowing what questions not to ask.

You can very easily get lost in questions that have no final answer, or in questions that are too complicated for even a super intelligence to handle.

I liked his realization that his past history of debugging-testing of computer systems would be very useful in this situation.

Oak definitely stretched me on this one.  Thanks, pal.

Re: Post Ludum: Second Chance

Wow.

That.  World.  Was.  AWESOME!!!  :D

You weren't the only one getting stretched, friend PT...

And I was amazed by how you wove my actions into the overall resolution.  For example, taking the fact that I had developed extra-dimensional portals before extending them into intra-dimensional portals... and using that to make the latter's dependability subject to the bias and temporal flow of whatever extra-dimensional universe I happened to make use of... and using my portal escape attempt as the means to resolve the universe's singularity problems by lowering the entire universe's tech bias -- that was really cool.

I love playtesting on the bleeding edge of complex, creative worlds with you!  :)

I can see why you need a vacation, just to think up another world as awesome as this one was... ;)

And I know how you feel about wishing we had explored the planet's situation more.  If you ever want to bounce back and forth what things we might have done with that, splice that in, and write all up as a story, that would be seriously cool... :)

Thanks again for giving us all such an amazing gaming experience here.  We appreciate you, PT!!!  :D
