Constellation Convention

In two weeks, I'll be going to Constellation Convention in Huntsville, Alabama to run a couple Multiverser games.  Its the first weekend in October.

Last weekend of October, I'll be going to Hallowcon which is in East Tennessee to run, and to deliver a talk about Quick World Creation.

Any and all are of course invited.  If you can come by to either, the Ladyfaire and I will go out to dinner with you and we'll play MV around a table instead of over a Net.

I might post my notes for the Quick World Creation talk just to see if anyone has some feedback.  But that will be later this month.

And, I'm a happy camper for tommorrow I get to play board games most of the day. Yay!

See you all on Monday.

Re: Constellation Convention

If I lived in Alabama, I'd be there faster than a scalded rabbit being poked by a thousand cattle prods.

Sadly, I'm in Canada, so that kinda means I can't go.

:P

I'd love to go to a convention like that.

Re: Constellation Convention

Ubercon was about a month ago in the Northeast of the US.  MJ Young goes to that one since he's a New Jersey resident.

Of course, you might be in the Yukon...

And thanks.

Just a thought, and one that I'm not sure I could do, but I've heard of people holding virtual conventions.  I've never "attended" one so I don't know anything about this. Interest? Anyone know anything about this?

Got to play Conquest of the World which is based on the Roman third century civil wars.  I was Caesar Hispana, and unfortunately Caesar Italia smashed my expeditionary force on Sicilia, thus paving the way for Caesar Asia Minor to gain a dominant position.  So I surrendered to Caesar North Afrika hoping for a nice retirement villa.

It had a lovely and huge map, and nice plastic pieces, and the game was fairly simple.  Still not sure about the game play.  After Asia Minor took out Egypt, it gave him the truly massive advantage of being able to double the size of his armies since he had twice the cap on his armies that the rest of us did.

Re: Constellation Convention

Hmmh, thats interesting.  I'd wondered why we had three Canadians playing (Doulos, Malachai, and Blue Canary{at Gaming Outpost}) which seemed statistically improbable.

We might have to try to run a virtual convention, or if one of you is interested in setting up a convention, I came close to doing it down here, and then backed off.  It was going to be called Centurion Convention.  I could give you some advice, if you are interested.

Re: Constellation Convention

The website is: http://www.ubercon.com/

MJ is running various Multiverser events, I think if I remember correctly it's 15 hours of Multiverser on Fri and Sat, with me running Hackmaster for 19 hours, (that do not overlap with MJ's Multiverser). It will be a busy convention.

Re: Constellation Convention

Thank you Jhiaxus.  I wish I could go.  I would like to try Hackmaster sometime. I remember one guy telling about his campaign, and saying he used a Subterranean War Moose as a lead monster.  It sounds hysterical.

Re: Constellation Convention

If you played first and second edition AD&D you've played hackmaster here are they key additions:

Everyone gets a 20 HP Kicker (some exceptions)
Oriental Adventures Honor system upgraded and applied to everyone
Skills are included and vastly upgraded
Quirks and Flaws added for Build Points
Talents are added for permanent effects

Basically you roll 3d6 7 times for your scores, do not change the order, then roll 7d100 for precentages, get BP's to bump up your scores, buy skills and telents, and that's it in a nutshell.

The humor was put in it to allow Wizards of the Coast to allow Kenzer to use the licence. We play it seriously, but of coarse the wacky stuff is fun, and we play it as well.

Oh and there are 19 different fireball spells, you can't go wrong with that :)

Re: Constellation Convention

Well, tomorrow I'm off to Constellation, and so I may not get any gaming posted until late Monday.  They have me running Worlds of Magic for Multiverser (which includes Lakraine--Malachai), and Grim Futures (Which includes Black Box Imperium and Fimbulwinter---Doulos).

Both games are set for 11 pm to 3 am.  Ouch.  So I'm going to be really tired on Sunday, and probably the Ladyfaire gets to drive us home.

Right now, I wish I'd bought a copy of my Temple of the Dying Sun game so I could use that as notes (its going to be part of the Worlds of Magic group) since I really don't want to print off eighty pages.  Oh well, I'll just gather some notes together, and it should be good.

Thanks for playing everyone.  You all are adding new features and details to these game worlds.

And I think Gabby (another player) has three?? fireball type spells.  And one of my other players from a previous campaign seemed determined to get one of every sort of fire related ability.

Re: Constellation Convention

I feel important.

^_^

*huggles self*

*cough**cough*

Anyways... good luck!  I'd kill to go to a convention like that, hope you have fun.  And, hey, in D&D, fireball spells ARE pretty much the best offensive spells there are.  Myself, I gotta say I'm more of an AoE guy, but I absolutely LOVE Snillock's Snowball to death.  In lower levels, that's my primary spell.

Re: Constellation Convention

Played Vampire the Reqieum with humans who were fleeing from Katrina.  Our bus stopped, and we had to visit a southern Plantation house on a hill.  It was a horror movie game.

Ran my Multiverser,a nd they survived the island's explosion by building a raft,a nd surviving for three weeks at sea before a great white munched them.

Next day, playtested as a player in a re-done version of my Countercoup d20 game with a 27th level thief with an AC of 66.  Was able to stab someone in the midst of a blade barrier without much difficulty.

Played a Vampire Larp which was underattended, and suffered from most of hte usual problems of such larps.  But was mostly okay.

My partner won an autographed book by RA Salvatore, and a box of Tacttiles, and I won nothing.  AAAAAAAAAAAGGGGGGHHHHH!

No, I'm glad for him.

Played Star Munchkin for the first time, and it was cool, except some guy thought it would be funny to play grab the cards Munchkin as in grab stuff off the table in front of you.  I was ready to quit at that, but it was time to go anyways.

All in all, a very good con.

And I get to go and do Novacon and Hallowcon with my presentation.
