Re: Alexis Agents
He laughs shortly as he takes you to a small shed, through a door, and turns a mop handle head around. The floor sinks beneath you both.
"No biggie, Alexis, I got that right, right? From the top. This is an office of MI-5. Most versers call it Claude's Corral." He pauses as he considers your second question.
"Drat. Is this your first transition? OK. For me, I got electrocuted by some idiot with a scriff-enhanced XBox and a 44 oz. slushie. I wake up in Naga World, orange grass, pschyo laser shooting plants. I die, burned up ten hours later. Spend a couple months in the 1920's chasing down rumors of the Mythos, learn tk, die again after meeting... Her. Visit Northgate City, and try to learn to be a superhero. Fly a plane filled with macro-toxin far out to sea. Next world. But I picked up a cool gun, and a kevlar jacket. Anyways, I met some samurai jerks, and so became a ninja. It was fun until I challenged a samurai to a duel...bad idea. I had no idea how good they were. But I managed to kill him anyways by jumping with him off the bridge. I wake up here, and lead the Reptile House team on a merry chase through the Sahara for like two weeks, and thats why they call me the Walking Man because I walked those SAS boys into the ground. Now, I'm a spy, with a license to kill, no lie, a Jaguar with a twelve cylinder that can run up to 180 mph which I tested, and some nifty toys like a pen laser.
You got something in your blood that makes you reform in another universe if you die. They call it scriff. I don't understand it yet, but hey, I'm young, scratch that, I'm immortal. I will understand it, just not this century.
I don't think they dislike us, Alexis. We are a resource. You've been drafted for a good cause, and offered a golden cage. Some versers don't like the deal, and really object in nasty ways. If I wanted to, I could do some serious damage before versing out. I don't like the drafted part, but then I really hate terrorists with nerve gas, so I go along. When Claude gets back from talking to the PM, I'll let him explain it more."
The door to the elevator opens, and he leads you down to a room. He opens the door, and it looks expansive, and nice, in an impersonal way. More of a suite than just a room.
"Yours. This is the verser hallway." He shrugs, giving you a piercing glance, trying to figure out your reaction to all this.
