Post Ludum: Mal and Lakraine

Please lay out any comments, questions, thoughts, ruminations, analyses, griping, complaints, fan mail etc., etc. about Malachai's latest world right here.

For that last bit, the jump of splat,  I rolled a GE roll to see if the Elemental would catch him.  He had very good odds of succeeding.  But I got a GE 30 which is one in a thousand bad, worst possible.

Did you like the magic?  Any boring parts?  Etc.

Re: Post Ludum: Mal and Lakraine

That was so cool.  (laughs)  It looks like the last Elemental wasn't the only airhead around.  (This is, of course, from a someone had a character superglue her boot to the outside of a starship while she was still wearing it.)

I liked the concept and process of learning the elemental magic.  Mal did it very well.  It was well played.

Different strokes for different folks. If you place a different person in there, and it would have been a whole different story. I know there was no way in hell I'd trust a air elemental to catch me :)

Re: Post Ludum: Mal and Lakraine

After rereading it, I would have stopped when Mal was halfway to his doom and asked him if he wanted to try a last second desperate more (ala Feather Fall), before dooming him, but that's just me :)

They're 'versers.  They're never doomed.  I prefer to think of them as just going on to fight evil in another dimension.

Re: Post Ludum: Mal and Lakraine

I really liked the world, and the legend.  The time spent learning the nature of fire and water-- the details were rich and beatiful.

Saddly we'll never know who orchestrated the attack and the outcome of the prophecy...

I think that is the one aspect of 'versing that I still haven't gotten used to.  Life goes on elsewhere for the character... the story of where they were doesn't.

Very well done, especially the whole culture thing with class, and power.

Bah he was doomed, that "tries to look trustworthy" bit was PT looking for a kill :D

Re: Post Ludum: Mal and Lakraine

Kate,
Thanks for the thoughtful analysis.  As to the loss, well that is the point, mostly.  You have to have a good reason to avoid getting killed, and thats one of them.

However, as to the Prophecy, well ya'll haven't been exposed to every wrinkle in Multiverser yet.

Re: Post Ludum: Mal and Lakraine

My pleasure.  It wsn't until I started writing that I learned just how important feedback is.  It took me a while go to beyond "I liked it"/ I didn't like it and start figuring out why.

This process has also helped me.  As I see it, a big part of this is research for you which means that feedback becomes a very important part of the process.

Do versers ever end up back to the same world?

Re: Post Ludum: Mal and Lakraine

Malachai pretty much has to, unless I toss in cross-dimensional interference...so yes.
