Post Ludum: McCallister's Mansion is now Condemned

So, while we did not really get into the meat of the adventure, we definitely had a wild gun battle in the tradition of Quentin Tarantino.

Any comments on the experience, etc. etc...

And now, I need another world for Mac, and perhaps another GM.  I'll have to talk to someone, and see if he's up for it.

Re: Post Ludum: McCallister's Mansion is now Condemned

It was a very interesting world, and none of the mysteries really got to be explored.

But it also proves that the best laid plans of mice and GM's often run astray... especially with some people.  ;)

Its interesting, knowing that the same world could be completely different for different people or a simple roll of the dice.

I have to admit, I was at a loss in some cases about what to do or how to proceed. I'm not sure if it was my perception of picking up the clues or what. I was really interested in finding out more but it seemed like my investigations kind of ended up running astray as Kate put it. ;P

Thanks for your points.  Thats something about which I occasionally struggle. I've had that problem with other worlds.

The grim reaper of Multiverser has struck again :), although Mac survived many gun battles to that point, so can't blame Playtester this time :)

I just had an idea, and I was wondering-- is there anything that keeps you from going back to

a) the same 'verse?
b) a verse so like the last one, its deja vu all over again?

Yes you can go back to the same verse, or a verse like it, or even to a future time in the verse that you had impact on it's direction.

And this is what I intended with Malachai in the Lakraine setting...after all, he still had a prophecy to fulfill.

Might be intresting to go back to the world Jesse is on a couple of hundred or even thousand years after he finally gets killed off (and I'm gonna fight to keep that from happening anytime soon). Just to see how the small advancements he has shown them work out, and how the People use them after he is gone.

Of course he just might wind up the immortal king of the monkeys...so he could see all of that as it hapens. :P

Re: Post Ludum: McCallister's Mansion is now Condemned

Well, there is a reason your setting is called "Doom of the Mech Empire"...heh, heh.

So coming back is definitely in the cards.  Your world is a Contingency World which means seeing the result of what you've done is definitely part of the game design. Although I'm going to have to revise something perhaps...add a suggestion to the rules (actually two...one for fast playing like I'm doing with you, and the other for some of the other tech advances you've done).

After we have your first major battle (which is coming up soon fo rthe Thanar are definitely going to try to squish you), and if you survive...we could shift over to doing a more spread out pace...like a week or a month at a time for each post.

And BTW, Mac, I'll get your world started up tonight, unless my GM gets it going.

Re: Post Ludum: McCallister's Mansion is now Condemned

Interesting world.  Alas, like many of these threads, there is the distinct feeling that there are things we didn't get a chance to find out about before the story ends...

I liked the twist of the other teens turning on their leader so quickly -- that caught me by surprise.

What "types" of worlds are there in Multiverser?  This was a "Contingency World".  I've heard of others being described as a "Stall World" (whatever those are).  What are all of the types of worlds, and what are the rationales for having them?

Re: Post Ludum: McCallister's Mansion is now Condemned

At Gaming Outpost there is an article entitled "Gather and Contingency Worlds" by Tadeusz which deals somewhat with Gather, Contingency, and Parrallel worlds.  It needs to be re-written, expanded, and I also need to add Stall or Placeholder Worlds, and Intro worlds to it.

That will introduce you, and then we can talk further.

And this is another article that I think with improvements needs to go into the "GM's guide.".  Which is another question..What would be good things in a Gamemaster's Guide (not explicitly for Multiverser, although it would have explicitly MV advice in it) for Multi-Dimensional Gaming?
