Avahur Algid

It was like any other day, one that had happened before.  Avahur stepped into his car, turned on the ignition, and proceed to drive to work.

Arriving at the small company he was developing games for, Avahur quickly set up at his station and readied his equipment.  It was just before he would begin working when one of his co-workers, who had had a bit too much to drink last night, came stumbling in.  Standing up to get the man out of his room, Avahur knocked over his coffee.  Sighing, he went down to get it.

That was when the drunk co-worker decided he would help, too.  Reaching down, his arms swung wildly, knocking Avahur's laptop off of the desk and onto the back of Avahur's head...

~~~
Your head is ringing and it's cold... very cold.  The wind is blowing hard and something is starting to soak into your clothing.  As you open your eyes, you realize you're lying on a ground covered in thick snow.
Re: Avahur Algid
I take a look around and get up. Looking around I see snow everywhere and I don't think I am anywhere REMOTELY close to my home... I start to wonder and figure if my clothes are already wet, I might as well and then I sit down in the snow and ponder the possibilites of what happened to me.
Re: Avahur Algid
You sit down in the snow, meaning your pants are now totally soaked through.  Your teeth start chattering as you realize how cold you really are.  The wind begins picking up, blowing snow in your face.  As you take a better look around, you notice that you're high... very high.  While the blizzard is covering most of the terrain up, you can tell that you're above the tree line.
Off in the distance you hear a sound.  You're not quite sure of what it is, due to the white noise of the blizzard.
Re: Avahur Algid
I hear a sound and figure that I should probably locate what the sound is generating from.  So I approach the general direction that the sound is coming from but going ata NWern angle from where I was sitting.
Re: Avahur Algid
Walking across the frozen terrain, the shaking becomes steadily worse.  As you walk closer towards the sound, you soon realize that it's a motor.  Before you have a chance to do anything else, however, your knees begin to buckle and you realize that your legs are almost frozen.
Falling onto your knees, you crumble against the ground and the world goes black as hypothermia takes over.
You don't know how long it takes, but the next thing you know, you're wrapped in blankets with half a dozen hot packs around you.  You're inside a cave, and a tall man is tending to a roaring fire.
Re: Avahur Algid
I groan wondering what happened to me, and slowly make my way over to the fire to get some further warmth and ask...
"Where am I and who are you?"
"I assume I passed out and you brought me here, but where exactly am I"'
Re: Avahur Algid
The man looks up to you.  "Oh, you're awake," he says gruffly.  His eyes quickly return to the fire he is tending.  "My name is Vars, Michael di Vars.  As for where you are... you are here."  He shrugged his shoulders.  "I don't know what the name of this place is, but I know there isn't much here."
You see him reach behind him and grab a frying pan.  Placing it over the fire, he throws some oil and a few pieces of bacon onto it.
Re: Avahur Algid
I take a look at the bacon and frying pan, then take a quick look around to fully examine the cave and ask,
"Well Michael, How long have you been out here? and where did you get this bacon from?"
Vars looked at you curiously for a second, and then answered after poking at the bacon.  "I've only actually been here a few hours.  The bacon came from the last world I visited."  He shrugs his shoulders.  "What's your name, by the way?"
Re: Avahur Algid
Vars looked at you strangely for a second before reason dawns upon your face.  "Let me guess," he says.  "Something happened, everything was black, and you woke up here."  He nodded his head before letting you speak and continued.  "Same thing happened to me a while ago.  Now..."
He leans closer to you, as if for dramatic effect.
"... you're dead."  He smiles and leans back.
"Get over that, then realize that you're now immortal.  There isn't one universe, there are hundreds, if not thousands if not millions!  You're now a verser, and whenever you die, you'll be sent to a new world."  He smelt the bacon and then dolled some out onto a couple tin plates, handing one to you.
"You understand that now?  And the only way to leave is to die."
"O Rly?, well I understand."
"Then if the only way is to die, how do you have bacon from a previous world?"
Vars put a piece of bacon in his mouth and began chewing as he pointed at a pack.  "What I found you with.  Presumably from your last world.  If you're carrying something, or something's extremely personal, it'll verse with you."
Vars smiled.  "That last world I visited was a tropical paradise.  Good eating there.  Met some strange man by the name of McCallister, a new verser just like you.  That's happened a few times for me, now."  He laughed quickly.  "I suppose I'm just a magnet for newbies."
"Find out what's going on in the world, then try and blend in.  If you don't cause commotion, nothing bad will happen."  He popped another piece of bacon into his mouth.  "But don't be afraid of bad stuff happening, either.  You're immortal now, remember that."
"Of course.  I'm saying in a social situation."  As Vars talked, the wind was beginning to die down outside the cave.  "I'm planning on exploring the area as soon as the storm calms down a bit.  Care to join me, or would you rather try to survive on your own?"
Re: Avahur Algid
"All right, then."
Vars settled back, and within an hour or so the fire had died down and the storm had calmed down as well.  Vars threw a few things onto, what you now noticed in the cave, a decently sized Hummer with a large machine gun on the back.  "You coming?"  He asks you as he gets into the drivers' seat.
Re: Avahur Algid
Vars looks back at you before starting the Hummer.  "Expecting company?  Either way, let's go."  He started up the motor; it coughed a couple times before starting up.  Rocketing out of the cave, Vars fishtailed on the ice and snow before regaining control and starting along.  Now that the blizzard had cleared, you can tell that you're relatively high on a mountain... with a very thin precipice and a long drop to down below.  Far below, while you aren't exactly sure, you think you can see a wooly mammoth or two.
At least, that's what you assume they are.
Within a few minutes, Vars slows down and then stops the hummer.  He has come to what appears to be a dead end, with an almost vertical ice drop going down.  Hopping out of the hummer, he eyes it and the gives you a thumb up.
The next thing you know, the hummer is rocketing over the edge and you're now in free fall down an icy precipice.
Re: Avahur Algid
As I am falling down, I apply pressure so that I am standing on the back end of the vehice right on top of where the rear bumper would be.  I crouch down, getting ready to jump, I look down and see land getting closer, knowing that when I almost am at the bottom I will jump off and land in a roll to take off some of the velovity and pressure from fallingm therefore reducing the overall damage to my body.
Re: Avahur Algid
The hummer rapidly picks up speed, soon reaching its terminal velocity.  Half a second from the ground, you vault out of the jeep, propelling yourself outwards and attempting to roll.
It doesn't work out so well, and your head hits the ground first.  You hear a sickening crunch, and the next thing you know, your world is covered in blackness.
OoC: Yeah, you died.
All I can see is darkness and I wonder what is happening.
OoC: Oh well, could be worse, besides I didn't really "die" I am immortal, so I guess, I reached the end of the demo time, so it went black, now I need to go out and buy the full version tog et the full experience.  I didn't die, the demo just ran out of time. yeah you said I am a verser and are immortal, so I don't die...I just respawn. ^_^
