Re: Magnus in Midgard

When  he hears of your destination, he nods in respect.  He ushers you into one of the side rooms which leads to a balcony that overlooks a world of blasting snow.

"Niffleheim. Land of the Frost Giants."  He's now twenty feet tall, and his voice is much deeper.  "Before you essay the Chair, you must pass the giants three tests."

He sighs like a winter storm.

"If you fail, you become food for the giants stew pot.  Do you wish to go on, or turn back?"

Three giants climb up over the balcony edge while hundreds of them arrive on nearby hills to watch the tests from out in the blowing snow.

"I will wrestle you." Says a skinny old giant women.

"I will outdrink you." Says a weary looking giant who can barely stand.

"I will out eat you." Says a very scrawny giant.

Re: Magnus in Midgard

My face remains impassive while they state the contests

"What are the rules for each contest?"

How much Mana and chi do I have stored?
Do I still have Green Mana from Yggdrasil?
Do I still have Red Mana from the capitol of Gallia?
Do I still have Chi from when I talked to the Gallian Military on Yggdrasil?

I need to test what Mana I have access to
I Will try to draw a little bit of each kind to see if I can do it here.
White Mana From the City of the Gods.
Green Mana from Yggdrasil
Black Mana From the decay within myself.
Chi From the area around me.

... I can't think of a nearby source of Red or Blue Mana...
I will swich to my chi sight and see what mana is available in Niffleheim.
There is obviously snow mana. But snow lands should be able to produce snow mana and the mana they normally produce

"Best two of three falls. No hair-pulling or murdering."

"We will each drink from my gourd.  Whoever drinks it deepest wins."  He pulls a gourd off his back, its an easy twenty gallon sized thing made of some monstrous horn and chased with steel, silver, and gold.

"My tablecloth is magic." Says the last. "You and I will speak our foods, and each will have what the other has.  The first to say 'no', or to throw up, or to pass five minutes without eating loses."

A lot, yes, yes, and yes.

The White Mana comes very fast and easy.  The others come.  You find only Snow Mana in Niffleheim.

Ideas swarm in my head on how to accomplish these tasks with the Mana available to me.
I smirk a bit.

There is a bit of conversation between the Norse god and the giants, quick whispers, but its agreed that its fair to allow you to pick first.  The giants look eagerly your way....

"I don't want to wrestle on a full stomach. So I will do that first. But Let me prepare myself first."

First I'll let all the Chi and Red and White Mana I have go.

And then Fill Myself up with Green Mana from Yggdrasil.
Green mana has a tendency to make thing grow bigger as demonstrated by the cards

http://gatherer.wizards.com/Pa...?multiverseid=370788 and http://gatherer.wizards.com/Pa...?multiverseid=143732
Giant Growth and Epic Proportions

I will use all the Green Mana I gathered to make myself grow as big as the Giants for long enough to do the three challenges.
I'll use both my hand to help move the Green Mana around in me.
"Power of Life, Growth and Nature! Flow into me and make my body Like a Giant's
Gigantic Proportions!"

I'll start drawing White Mana.

Then I'll use Psionics to force my body to be stronger.

Man this torc is annoying. this would be so much easier if I could use more than one spell on my body

I'll start reading the giantess's mind to find out what she is planning so I can counter it.

If all that worked I'll say
"...I'm ready"

When I start I'm going to try to use my martial arts training to knock her off balance and then use a hip throw on her.

Re: Magnus in Midgard

The power swirls through you, filling you with joy.  Flowers spring up at your feet, and a warm breeze flutters through the chill air.

And then you focus your will on strength, and your body toughens.  You feel like you could smash rocks with your bare hands.

And as the giantess giggles, you reach out for her mind.

Its strange. (+@1 Read Minds due to reading a non-human mind.)

Her thoughts are long and slow, chill and yet lit by bursts of lightning that race faster than you can grasp.

But one thought comes through...

"I am Old Age.  I cannot be defeated."

"Hmmm?..."

She may be Old Age but I do not age anymore.. I sould be able to put up a decent fight adganst her.

Wait a minute I'm metaphorically holding old age away with my status as a verser.
May by I can pick her up and throw her away...

"I'm Ready."

I'll Try to pick her up and throw her a few feet away.

She's left the balcony without so much as a by your leave, although with plenty of unkind words about you.
"You have won the first challenge." The Norse god says.  The thousands of ice giants on the surrounding hills boo.

I'll read the mind of the giant that's going to do the eating contest. The old Giant woman was Old Age. I want to know what this very scrawny giant is.
I'll also look at him with my Archetype Chi Sight.

"I'll do the eating contest next."

Re: Magnus in Midgard

In your sight you see bones and lush valleys turned to desserts.

I am hungry, for I am always hungry, for I am Famine.

He starts eating, like a ravenous man, or a pig gone wild, or a machine...in seconds he's downed a cherry pie, a plate of sugared yams, a ten ounce steak, and a taco...

Re: Magnus in Midgard

I'll dismiss my enhanced strength.

White mana has an affinity for banishing creatures and things somewhere else.
As demonstrated by http://gatherer.wizards.com/Pa...?multiverseid=220195 and http://gatherer.wizards.com/Pa...x?multiverseid=89040 and http://gatherer.wizards.com/Pa...?multiverseid=202542

I'll use the white mana I have to open a portal between the back of my throat and somewhere in Niffleheim.

After I get that up I'll start eating as fast as him. the food will go into the portal and end up somewhere in Niffleheim

As I eat I'll draw green and white mana. I'm going to attempt to infuse the giants food with the essence of Bountiful Harvests, Abundance and Fruitfulness.
Green and White mana are forces of growth and life.
Infusing them into his food should be poisonous to his nature as Famine

ooc:It seems that Oak already linked him to my first world, The Gather. and I'm think he already found link to a message in this game.

Hmmm... I need to work on that more...

Re: Magnus in Midgard

You shovel in a dozen chili dogs, and then an ice cream banana split, followed by a Canadian ham pizza, and then s bowl of tempura and a plate of sushi, followed by a stack of pancakes a foot tall....

Meanwhile Famine is slowing, but he's still faster than you.  He's just more experienced, and his mouth, being giant size is bigger.
But you're making him work at it....

Re: Magnus in Midgard

Him slowing down allows me more time to infuse his food with green and white mana. I should be able to get more in before he eats it, which will make it even more poisonous to his nature.

I will continue to try to keep up with Famine and put as much mana as I can into his food before he eats it.

Re: Magnus in Midgard

You and  he both eat and eat, clearing buffet tables of rice, and sausage, and hamburgers, and curly fries before sweeping the desert tray clean.

And then he burps.

He gives you a startled look.  And then comprehension flows into his eyes.

Now he glares at you, and you can feel all the ancient fears of Humanity flowing into you.  You stumble.

And your jaw muscles are so tired.

I'll smirk at him

I'll try to block his flow into me with psionics.
I'll temporally divert my flow of Green and White mana into myself to cure the fatigue and tiredness. Then I'll redirect it back into his food.

Re: Magnus in Midgard

You and he eat the sun up and down.  You've eaten chicken, beef, pork, snake, pigeon, duck, goose, alligator, buffalo....fried, stewed, baked, bbqed, in a pie, in an omellette (chicken, ostrich, and roc).

He is swaying on his feet, and he's bulging in strange places as if the food is trying to explode out his rib cage, and there's one last meal...He grins.

Your soul feels as if its been baked by stellar fires, so dry and tired are you.  Even with the near continual flow of Green mana propping you up, you have given almost all you have.

At first you see nothing odd about the meat dish before you, but then you see how its laid out.  Its 'long pork'.

Re: Magnus in Midgard

For a few seconds I am enraged by him forcing me to eat human. In fact I am so enraged that it wouldn't surprise me if I produced red mana on my own. I AM NOT EATING THAT!

But I calm down. I need to trick everyone into thinking I ate that.

I feel the magic in the city. The Sun and Moon should be up here.
I'll draw on their power.
As the brightest body in our sky the Sun is often associated with Absolute Perfection.
The Moon is often associated with Magic and deceit.  And though those two things, Illusion.
I'm going to try to craft a Perfect Illusion to fool everyone else by applying the limitless perfection of the sun to the Illusions of the Moon

The Illusion will feature my very reluctantly eating the meat and then nearly gaging it up but managing to keep it down.

Then I'll cancel my portal for a bit in order to banish the meat before they realize it is not gone.

If I can't find the Sun and Moon, I will draw on White Mana.
The sun is associated with white mana and I can draw it's perfection into me though that.
I'll then cancel my portal and then apply that perfection to crating psionic illusions. then I’ll force them to see me very reluctantly eating the meat and then nearly gaging it up but managing to keep it down.
Then I'll use more White Mana to banish the meat.

Re: Magnus in Midgard

You feel as if red mana is boiling about you, just out of reach.  And a red haze drops over your vision (called 'seeing red') as your fists bunch.  Your heartbeat thunders in your ears.

You reach for the Sun's perfection, and then you hear Heimdall the Norse godling next to you mutter 'Oh.' and he starts to run.  Famine looks up puzzled, and then light pours down from the sky.  A curtain so dense you can only see dancing figures of flickering fire in it, and hear the screams from the hills beyond where the ice giants meet their fiery doom in a torrent of light amidst the sound of joyous music.

And it doesn't hurt, not at all, as your body evaporates under the stellar flare turning this section of Niffleheim into a glassy desert.
