And the magic slips out of your control, and you hear one defiant, mocking shriek of a hawk, and then the magic collapses in on you.

Images. Flashes of light. Nausea.  Color blue as strawberry. Berry as football. 'And John Cross, setting up his patented Cross Over Pass for the Houston Oilers...'  Being oil, hot, gummy, compressed under great weights, T2 yelling 'just one more' as you lift thousand pound weights...

And it goes on.

Finally you hear a cool passionless voice.

"No relatives?"
"None, nor known affiliations.  Plus he's somehow not contracted any of the latent biocontrol latent plagues, so he's clean." This voice is selling something.
"Good. We'll pay triple."
"I was thinking, five times..."
Silence.
"Very well, triple it is."

A metal door opens, and you realize you're sitting on  a bed, without shoes, with odd pants, and a Hug Me jacket.

"Come along Mr. Doe,. or I can override your muscles with a come-along. Its quite unpleasant I'm told."  The voice is female, and about as warm as an iceberg.

So I went from sitting in an alley to being somewhere else and wearing a straightjacket. That's always fun!!! I've read books about how Harry Houdini escaped from the Hug Me coat. Not enough to be able to do it, unfortunately. And it requires that you dislocate your shoulder. Houdini could dislocate both at will.

But I probably think I'm dreaming for the moment. So I'm going to tell the ice queen "Go ahead. Use the come-along. I don't feel like moving."

And I'm going to be trying to see the buckles and straps. See if I can undo them with psionics. Not doing it yet, just seeing if I am able to.

She flicks a button on a black plastic 'TV Remote', and suddenly you're rising, and lumbering off behind her.  Its odd, to say the least, feeling yourself move with no control from yourself.

Also, it feels as if your skin itches.

That level of TK seems to be beyond you.

"Mr. Doe, you were having severe epiplepsy, which is common in the modern world what with all the holograms and other twtitchy light sources, and so you've made yourself available.  However, I see no reason this has to be any harder than it is.

We're about to test a neural toxin, and a war virus, along with their antidotes.  Which one would you like to 'volunteer' for?"

Its hard to believe, but she seems genuinely, if mildly concerned for you, even as she plans to subject you to what has to be an illegal medical experiment.

Some kind of psionic block? Try the magical flame on. Burn the Hug Me coat off of my body. Something tells me that won't work either.


"A doe, a deer, a female deer......" If my singing doesn't scare them off, nothing else will......


"How about you shoot yourself up with it first? Prove to me it's safe?"

You're surrounded in flame, and the Hug Me coat has caught fire, and is starting to burn.  It seems fairly flame retardant, which seems a logical measure for a future civ to take when confining what might be a dangerous pyromaniac, or for just general safety measures.

The matronly doc panics, and slaps a button on the remote before darting out the door, and slamming it behind her.

Lots and lots of pain.  Every part of your body is screaming, from your eyeballs to your toenails.  To an ordinary man, this would be instantly incapacitating.  Its flung you to the ground....

Turn off the flame Chaos. Order Order Order. Adding Order would take care of the pain. Try to freeze the Hug Me coat. I've burnt it, maybe now freezing it will break it. Heating and then freezing something tends to weaken it. Keep squirming until it breaks. But Order myself. Calm. Reduce pain.

If I actually manage to get that thing off, look for whatever it was they put on me that lets them control my body like that and rip it off. Once that's done, did you ever see X-Men Days of Future Past? When the Sentinel flames up and melts through a vault door? That's gonna be me.

You convulse in pain, as the fire goes out, and despite your best efforts, you can't focus enough to bring Order to the party...

You feel something go pop in your mouth, and you realize after feeling it with your tongue that you just broke one of your teeth in two.  But it doesn't hurt, or you can't tell it does over the storm of agony.

Is the Hug Me coat off yet?

I'm in pain, I'm in Chaos. I'll let that out. Flames and lightning bolts. Maybe that will reduce the pain I'm in. What I'm doing is just unfocused destruction. I'm not trying to do anything specific except destroy everything around me. I'm throwing fire and lightning until this whole place and everything inside it is a smoking pile of rubble. I'll teach them to mess with an Order/Chaos mage!!!!!!!

You rip things to shreds around you, gouging gaping holes in the concrete, setting the bench on fire....and suddenly the pain is gone.

The tattered remnants of the Hug Me coat hang on you, but you're free to move.  Underneath it you see a melted and torn net of fine wires next to your skin.  Even dazed, and breathing in smoke an dust, there is something entrancing about that wire.  Its as if you could fall into it forever...

You shake yourself free if you want to.

The door is half shattered, and the room is on fire, and alarms are blaring loudly...

And I'm going to rip off the net of fine wires, all over my body. Then I'm just going to walk right out the door throwing fire and lightning as I go. Nobody better get in my way. I'm just walking destruction at the moment. I'm trying to scriff my hammer and other gear that they took from me.

And since I might very well be in the same hospital where alice is, I'm going to be looking for her as well.

You shatter the door, step through it, the heat searing your skin.  There is a surgical bay with a dozen beds, and ten are filled.  Around them are another thirty doctors and nurses.

Beyond them you see an exterior door.  To your right and left you see similar doors to the one you just melted.

Your former captor is fleeing across the room.

To your right, someone is coming at you fast, stutterstepping.  Directly in front of you, a women with a necklace of skulls is fingering them, and whispering words that hurt your ears.

In one of the doctor's hands you see a syringe that just radiates a malevolent chaos.

Everyone is staring at you, most of them completely terrified.

"Where's alice? Where's alice? Give me alice and I'll let you live do you hear me?"

I'm furious. I've not been this pissed off since I stepped into the Multiverse. My eyes are probably glowing with Chaos. I've got lightning sparks coming off my fingers. Half these people will probably need to change their underwear.

Several look confused, one begins to say..."Um, ..."  And the street samurai, clad in leathers dotted with corporate logos, and holographic rainbows, and mirrorshades is on you.  He's flicked out a handwhip from just beyond your arms reach, and it wraps about your neck.

The metal coil constricts.

The women in front of you with the skulls looks oddly cheerful.

Send a nice 1.21 gigawatt electric charge through that. Watch him get thrown backwards.

Then turn my attention to the crowd "Anybody else feeling froggy?"

And then of course "WHERE'S ALICE!!!!!!!!"

Sparks flying. Eyes glowing. I might even have flames coming out of my hair.

OOC) 1.21 gigawatts is 1,210,000,000 watts. But you probably knew that already.

The street samurai flips end for end, and face plants in the far wall, and drops to the ground, smelling of cooked pork, and trailing smoke.

"Great lord, avatar of the Destroyer, this alice is on the tenth floor.  You are in the sub-sub basement." The lady with the skulls necklace says as she bows to you, her eyes fervent.

You see yourself in someone's mirror shades, and its almost enough to make you puke.  Your eyes glow bright orange. your hair is standing on end, and lightning leaps from strand to strand, and there is a sense of depth...

One of the guys on the cot says ...

"Let us go, please."

"If Skull Girl comes with me. Otherwise, you're all toast."



"How about it Skull Girl? You willing to risk yourself to save everyone here?"

I need a guide.

"I care not for these others, let the scientists and their test subjects die for all I care.  I serve the Destroyer."  Skull girl says with shining eyes focused on you.

"No man, we're trapped by these crazies, untie me, I don't want a war virus in me..."  Evidently you were not the only one to be experimented on.  If things had gone as the lady doc intended, you'd have ended up on one of these cots in this room, you realize.

I'm still in Chaos mode, so pull the Chaos from their war viruses. Neutralize them. Make all their viruses completely harmless.

"You're safe now. It won't hurt you."


"I don't know who this Destroyer is, but right now you serve me. Take me to alice and then you're free to go."

"Yes, Great One." She gives you a quick bow, and leads you out of the operating chamber into a dreary nurses' station which is unoccupied.  Holograms float above the desks.  Beyond the beige walls is a glass walled elevator.

Inside you shoot up seven stories.

Then the elevator halts.

This is before the tenth floor where you were supposed to be going.

I'm looking for a camera or other device. To quote Rockwell, Somebody's watching me.

"Do you want to die? Start the elevator or there's gonna be HECK to pay!!! I'm just here for alice. If nobody tries to stop me, nobody else will get hurt. If you try to stop me though, a lot of innocent people are going to buy it for no reason. I just want alice. That's all."

Then turn to Skull Girl. "You got any ideas?"

Skull Girl turns to you with a dreamy look.

"Kali comes for us."

And then the elevator explodes. Shards of glass rip at you, and its a good thing you have your armored jacket.  A powerful force like King Kong's hand squeezes all the air from your body.

And you're falling.

Actually I'm not wearing my armored jacket. I'm wearing hospital pants and that's it. I didn't even bring my armored jacket. If that means I'm dead then so be it.

If I'm not dead though, I would try to throw an Order shield around Skull Girl. Keep her safe. She doesn't need to die. But I don't care about myself.

But if that's the end of the world then that's the end of the world.

She stares at you in utter amazement, and then a dawning gratitude which bothers her as you both plummet down to the floor, massive cuts ripped through your body.  And with a last effort you set her down before you, and then impact.

In spite of what you might be thinking, I have never disliked a single world you've sent me to. I've never wanted to suicide out of a world. I blew myself up once, but I was trying to destroy Alpha Complex, not kill myself. I always thought a verser would make an awesome suicide bomber.

You disliked your first world so much you killed yourself to escape it. That still bugs me a little bit, but it's in the past. Learn from it and let it go. No hard feelings there.

So, should you tell Oak to start the thread, or should I?
