John at Joe's

This message is a placeholder for JohnA1nut's new game, GMed by Tadeusz.  :)

Tadeusz:
Dreams of serving ribs to the Care Bears ('make my ribs happy, cause I'm Happy Bear'), a drunken Lucky from Lucky's Charms, and an imcreasingly impatient although inarticulate Stay Puft Man from Ghostbusters chase you awake.

The hum of crickets in the humid night air,  and the slow wave of trees in the breeze, the croak of a frog, the Big Dipper overhead...

JohnA1nut:
"Did I get him? Did I get him?" I look around for a minute, needing to calm myself. Cutie got away from that guy. "Oh well, Cutie won't have to deal with him. Happy Versing Cutie!!!!"

Where am I?

Tadeusz:
You stand up in wild grsss and weeds.  Overhead you see several fast moving lights, and then there is another more steady somehow light that moves above you.  And there is something that glitters in the sky far away, but you can almost see a shape.
Its the second brightest thing in the sky after the nearly full moon.

Another frog croak brings your eyes back to earth, and off to your right you see a slithering in the grass.  Upon looking closer you see its a twelve foot long alligator which is ignoring you as it heads down to the water.

Away from the water, you see a light flash into the sky,and dissappear.

Checking your verser sense you feel for your stuff, and across the water at whatever distance is another verser.

JohnA1nut:
I was in the hotel lobby, and my gear was in my room. So my gear is close by. Find my gear, reload my gun, and go see who that other verser is. I've still got my survival pack, so I'm good there.

In reply to Tadeusz (msg # 2):

Second Post.

You set out for the verser after you quickly pick up your stuff.
This requires several attempts as this foggy, swampish river is in the way.  But finally you come to a rusty iron railroad bridge, which looks disused and in not the greatest of shapes.

But it seems entirely adequate for one man on foot.

You cross and keep to the tracks until three miles away you arrive at a RR crossing with a two lane wide road of concrete.  The RR seems to be leading sorta toward the verser, but off by about fifteen percent to the right.  The road is not leading there from what you can see.

There is a sign in yellow for RR crossing.  It looks like something took a bite out of the sign.

Re: John at Joe's

Cross country it is then.

You walk through the night, making good time, until you come to a back country one lane road heading on much the same heading you are through farmland, and past farmhouses.  Then  you make better time.

The sun rises behind you, and you enter the outskirts of Maysville.  There are several signs, one with Rotary Council signs and others on it, and one made of wood, and one a holograph that all welcome you to Maysville.

An early morning jogger goes by you at a good twenty mph, and he has mechanical legs.

Re: John at Joe's

OOC) Speaking of land sharks, something I read is that if the Great White shark was a land animal with the capabilities that it has in the water, it would have eradicated the human race centuries ago. Something to think about when you need a super something or other to take out Magehammer. He's shark-phobic as it is. Strange thing though is, about 20X as many people die annually from eating peanuts than die from shark attacks. Peanuts. More deadly than a Great White......

So this is a little bit of a high-tech society. Examine the holograph. It might be interactive. Maybe it can answer some questions for me:

"What is this place?"

"Who created you?"

"Give me a brief history of the world."

Or maybe all it does is say "Welcome Travelers."

Where's that other verser? I'm on guard though. I'm expecting it to be the T-800.

"Welcome to Maysville, a subdivision of AMEX Greater Financial Prosperity Zone."

"The fine people of Maysville, the shigondo workers of New Cambodia. and the generous leaders of AMEX."

"I'm sorry, I do not understand."

The other verser is in the Hilton Summerlawn Hotel and Resort Complex.  Which is fenced, and gated with guards at the front gate.  Its within sigth of the welcome sign.

OOC) Don't forget your own game Tadders!!!!!

What is the holograph of? A man, woman, child, etc.

A high security hotel. Approach the gate and tell them I need a room at the hotel. With that level of security, I'm not expecting to get in. You probably need to make reservations years in advance. But go up and see what happens. Might need to flash gold, hope I don't need to flash a gun.

That's something else. Why does Magehammer always go for the gun when he gets into trouble? I've got a hammer that makes Mjölnir look like a child's plaything, and I go for the explosive driven slug thrower. Every. Single. Time.

Re: John at Joe's

Hologram is of words with lots of fancy spins, color changes, sparkles, and 'depth' to it.

The guards are in an AC shack, which looks tough, and they have on body armor.  They don't blink an eye at your weapons, and you notice that one has a hammer on a necklace, which hammer glows.

When you offer gold, they call an asst. manager who come out with a portable masspec in his hand, affirms that it is gold, and takes a couple of your coins as payment for a room for a week.

They let you in.

Once they do see the gold, they become very, very polite.

Re: John at Joe's

Then it's definitely not the T-800 inside the hotel. These guys would have blasted that thing to pieces.

Did the T-800 come with me? It was my associate. Do I feel any senses to it?

Ask the guy about his hammer necklace. Where did he get it, does it do anything, etc.

And go into the hotel. After I drop off my gear, I'm looking for the other verser's room. Go and knock on the door. I'm half surprised they aren't looking for me.

Re: John at Joe's

No sense to the T-800,

He looks aside.

"Its of the Vikings.  Bought it up near the Michigan Waters two onths go."  He's not eager to talk about it.

On he fourth floor, you knock, and the door to room 408 swings open.

A tall man with a beard, looking kind of like a Viking, with intense dark eyes stares at you from across a breakfast table laden with bacon, sausage, strawberries, coffee, iced water, and hash browns.  The table is on the far end of the room, out on the balcony.

"Come in, join me for breakfast, fellow verser."  The voice is deep, deliberate, and kind of calm.

Re: John at Joe's

He grins widely as you dig into the food.  He speaks...

"Room, this is Tadeusz, another order of eggs, and two more of bacon and sausage, please."
"Do you want our weekly special with discount for only..."
"Stop, Room."

The Room's voice comes from all around you.

"Spent the last six months in a dessert.  Ate way too much cactus mush."

And he digs in as well.

After five minutes, the door opens and a robotic table with a single arm comes in, and delivers the new order to the center of the table, and then leaves.

"I know the feeling. Good food is sometimes so hard to come by as a verser. So uh, Tadeusz huh? Mind if I call you Tad? You can call me Mage if you want. Where'd you get a name like that? I got mine from some robot that was trying to kill me. I kinda like it."

Eat More Meat!!!!

"So what else can these rooms do? I just checked into this hotel."
