Ok, so we'll be doing most of your character sheet as it becomes relevant, but we need to do your gear first. You can bring up to 200 lbs of items you own that are not bolted or screwed in place, and describe what you'll have on you at the time that you begin your story.

I will bring my hiking backpack and small duffle bag, my pocket knife, flint fire starter, and camping axe.  I will bring along 3 sets of summer clothing, one heavy pair of pants, and my thermal sweatshirt.  In addition I will also have a small 6x6 tarp, my ipad, charger,  solar charger, and my glasses case with cleaning cloth.

Re: Art's Adventure: First Verse

You're sitting at home, unpacking a new computer you just bought. It promises to have a faster processor than any other on the market, and by an order of magnitude at that. You're skeptical, but the salesman did offer a 90 day return policy if you're in any way unhappy, so what could go wrong.

Having just set up at your desk, you plug in and turn the computer on, and ZAAP, a spark of electricity jumps out and into your hand, and your vision goes momentarily golden and then black.

Some time later, you come back to consciousness. You immediately notice you're on your back, on what feels like prickly grass and you have a strong tangerine smell wafting by.

What do you do?

Re: Art's Adventure: First Verse

As you open your eyes and sit up, you see it is night time and there is a full moon out tonight, high in the sky. It gives you a bit of an uneasy feeling, though you can't pinpoint why.

Looking around you notice the tangerine scent is coming from the grass you're sitting on... The orange grass your sitting on. You also see your gear scattered around you on the ground.

You're on a flat plain of orange grass that seems to stretch out impossibly flat in all directions. On the horizon you see the plains eventually break into hills in one direction. Opposite the hills you hear a low thrumming automation of what looks like a far away industrial compled. Perpendicular to that however you see a boxlike outline with 4 spires coming out from it's top.

You walk for a little over an hour towards the industrial complex, but it still looms far on the horizon. How long do you want to walk for?

Even though it's in the distance I decide to press on towards the industrial complex for another 4 hours.

Re: Art's Adventure: First Verse

Having walked for five hours now, your legs are beginning to seriously feel the effort from this walk. You are beginning to see progress however, the complex has begun to look larger on the horizon, though specific shapes are difficult to make out. You do however see what looks and sounds like fireworks speckling the entire area. They have a somewhat erratic pattern though, unlike displays you have seen before.

Re: Art's Adventure: First Verse

When you stop and sit down you notice two distinct nagging feelings tugging at the edge of your perception.

The first type is reaching out towards your pack, where you set it down while resting. It's a very minor pull, but it's definitely there.

Another pull is off mostly in the direction you just came from, but off to the side slightly. It feels similar to the first but pulses at a different rate.

Recap from lunch:
I investigated my backpack and emptied it's contents and noticed different pulls coming from each of my items.  I went in the direction if the other pull and discovered a small town with a radio tower in the center.  I met Paul and Annie and was introduced to the concept of my death and how I am now a verser after handling the strange technology.  I was told of the world's strange creatures that hunt during the day and have strange laser powers.  Paul told me that it was best to be active at night and learn to sleep during the day.  I received the quick tour of the town and my new quarters and I decided to rest after my long journey.

Re: Art's Adventure: First Verse

So you get settled in and drift to sleep as the sun rises. It's a weird feeling going to sleep as the sun rises, but apparently one you'll have to get used to.

You wake up some time later, feeling well rested but very hungry. Looking outside it looks like it's just approaching mid day with the sun high in the sky.

Re: Art's Adventure: First Verse

Looking around Paul and Annie are still in their mobile radio center, with the door locked.

You don't see any food stored in the house you're staying in, where are you planning to look for the food? Of the locations that you were shown before going to bed you saw:
A museum
an entertainment area
and general housing units, which you're living in one of currently.

In reply to Glantri (msg # 16):

Recap from lunch:
Waking up halfway through the day, I get up and decide to explore the town.  I visit the entertainment area and discover a bowling alley.  Then I explore the museum and look at all the glass artifacts they have on display, such as a drill, helmet, and gun.  I decide to inquire about food so I wake up Paul to discover that I can eat the tangerine grass for nourishment and get a drink of water from the tanks behind the radio station.
I rest for a few more hours in my house, then I meet up with Paul and Annie and apologize for waking Paul so early I had forgotten about the sleep cycle.   I then inquire to Paul about the industrial area I saw and Paul informs me it is a war zone between two alien races and I'm lucky to be alive.  Paul tells me of the two races, a bug like race and a barbarian race and that the barbarian race we have a peace treaty with.  I was also told of magic in the realm and how I could learn it but needed to practice outside the walls.  I inquired about the material houses were made from and that it was a byproduct of fermenting the grass and Paul told me I could make a weapon out of it if I wished.  I helped Paul and Annie with the daily chore of tending to the fermentation tanks and Paul told me of a distant kingdom made of glass where spider creatures live.

Re: Art's Adventure: First Verse

Just a couple of clarifications and additions.

The glass that is referred to is actually a glass like material, with a translucent green appearance.
Also the glass city was described as abandoned but with spider sentries, that are only active during the day.

And as an addition, during lunch today Art decided to create a sword from the plastic steel, using clay to form a mold and press into the putty like solid to form it against the ground. He managed to make an adequately sharp sword, although the strength of the plastic steel makes sharpening it difficult. He also fashioned a crude leather holster for his side, to hand the sword from, out of leftover scraps found around town.

Next Art decided to try and experiment with magic, asking Paul if there were any books he could use to reference or use as guidance. On a particularly bad GE roll, there are no books to be found at all in Umak Tek, all having been taken along by their owners and Paul having memorized what he needed. Undeterred by this setback Art decided to head out of town, under the light of the strange moon to experiment with the magic. He decided to try minor healing magic. He first pricked his finger with his pocket knife, to give him a minor wound to practice on, and tried to heal the wound by closing his eyes and willing it closed. After this didn't work, he tried again, but this time waving his other hand over the wound, but this also failed him. As they say though, the third time is the charm, and on this attempt he closed his eyes and waved his hand over the wound, and concentrated on the moon light as a healing force to mend, and this time he was rewarded by his finger slowly mending itself.

OOC:
Skills:
1@1 Sword Making T3@3
1@1 Heal Minor Wound M4@1 Time Factor 1 Base damaging SM+20 (+10 from appropriate situation and limitation of a moon being visible and +10 due to the reduction from dangerous to damaging)

Items:
Plastic Steel Sword Base dangerous

and so, the ball is in your court Art, your finger freshly healed, what do you do next?
