Glantri's Titanic Attack. Try not to get eaten

You dream of giant mechanical spiders coming to eat your joy, love and sorrow. As they chase you they change into spiders made of human limbs and then into giant humans with sadistic grins on their face. One of them catches you with it's hand and brings you to it's mouth.

You wake with a start when it bites down.

You notice that you are in a cobblestone alleyway. Your things are near you just as you left them on the ship. You notice that you still have that wand Magnus made for you.

The buildings around you are built in a European style. Practically none of them are over two stories tall. the Roads are cobblestone and are built for horse drawn carts and pedestrian traffic. You then spot a wall in the distance that dwarfs the houses. You can't tell exactly how tall it is. but it looks to be easily over a hundred feet tall. People in plain cloths are milling around doing their own business. None of them seem to have noticed your appearance.

Glantri's Titanic Attack. Try not to get eaten

I brush off, shuddering at the thought of the spiders, and hoping Magnus made it ok, and stand up. I pack all my stuff up quickly into my backpack, and should it and start walking. I'm keeping all weapons in the backpack, I'm dangerous enough without them and blending in is more important right now.

I'm looking for any buildings that have the looks of a blacksmith or forge, an inn, a general store, a tailor or a library.

While wandering I'm going to try a new type of windcrafting, I'm going to try and fuzz the air around me just enough to make it difficult for people to focus on me. Not enough to be obvious or to make me invisible, but to make it just a smidge more likely that people won't focus on me and ask any questions until I get myself oriented.

Your windcrafting comes a bit harder than the last world but it is still easy enough.

You dissuade people from noticing you with the wind and walk around the rather large walled town.

You find a few blacksmiths, a few inns, one or two general store, A few tailors and a doctor or two.

I'll stop at one of the tailors, dropping my windcrafting as I enter the door, and ask the man about getting a suit made. I'll get one of my aleran gold half eagles out for payment. "Will this cover the expense?"

I'm purposely expecting to be overpaying, to get him in a happy and chatting mood. Assuming he's willing to sell to me and starts taking measurements I'll talk during the measurements (where it's not important that I don't talk, like getting my chest or neck measured) about recent events, if  he's heard any good gossip.

He looks surprised at your gold coin.
He says "Yes sir, I don't think I'll have enough change though."

He starts measuring you and chatting with you.
"Well as you know this is an outer wall town so nothing much happens except Scout Regiment expeditions outside the wall.  Bloody drain of tax money if you ask me. We fatten them up to send them out to feed those damn Titans. Those fools in the capital have the gall to doubt that Wall Maria will protect up. The are greedy and try to take lands outside Wall Maria from the TItans."

"I'm ok with that, you can keep the change if you don't mind catching me up on the going ons, and possibly pointing me in the direction of a place I could find some work and lodging? I have a good deal of strength and am not adverse to working hard, and my fingers are quite nimble."

I nod along with his explanation, and make note to check out the scout regiment and what they're doing as well as the titans.

"So I've heard tale of the titans before obviously, but I haven't seen one yet, do they really eat those scouting teams?"

In response to you question about work.
"Hmmm... you might want to ask Dr. Jaeger then. He's mention that he needs someone with a strong back to help move patient around."

When you ask if the titan really eat the Scout Regiment he looks at you funny. You guess that is common knowledge here.
"...You must be from deep in the interior. Yes. They are decimated when they go out and most of the time we don't recover the bodies."

"Yeah, I just arrived in this area. Father says it'll be good for me to see how people live out here."

Once he's done taking measurements, I'm assuming it's going to take a substantial amount of time. Whenever he says to come back is fine with me within reason, and I'll thank him and mention I'm off to talk to Dr Jaeger then, and ask directions to where he might be.

I'm thinking that helping the doctor will help fill in the gaps and cover lodging expenses with a more conventional currency than gold. Also it may give me the opportunity to practice watercrafting on some patients as well as he's likely to be a rather learned fellow, so he may have some history books or books on these titans. Either way, first thing is to go find him and introduce myself.

He says to come back in a day or two. He also asks what kind of cloth you want.

He gives you directions to Doctor Jaeger's.

After a thirty minute walk you arrive at Dr. Jaegers. He lives in a house that is on the top of a small hill. There are other houses around his.

"Whatever you feel is best, I'd like something that can breathe and allows movement and looks presentable."

I thank him on the way out and mention I'll stop in in two days.

--------

I'll go up to the doctors door and knock. I'm staying far enough from the door that I don't look threatening and keeping my posture relaxed but respectful. When he answers the door I'll explain:

"Dr. Jaeger? My name is Mike Washer, I'm new to this part, and was pointed in your direction that you may be looking for someone who's strong and has good hands. Any chance that's true and that I could work for you?"

A woman in her early thirties answers the door.
"I'm sorry. My Husband Dr. Jaeger is off checking up on a patient out of town. He is suppose to return later today. May I offer you some tea and a seat while you wait?"
