Chris's Catastrophe

Bill, an accountant friend of yours, has come by the house to show you his new toy he got from work.  Its a portable computer, specifically rigged up to be useful for accountants.  Its got a lot of bells and whistles, as well as useful ideas.

On the side is a logo 'Scriff Inside!' which you've heard about.  Its some new advance in chip design that is promising great advances.

You're playing with it at the kitchen table while Bill goes to get a glass of water. Upon returning you hear an 'uh', and turn to see Bill toppling, his foot caught on the edge of a rug.  He hits, the water splashes everywhere.

"I'm O-"

And then there is an arc. Another one. Much larger. From the...bigger arc...you're inside it...and the computer is the source....and you try to drop....flash.

You wake to metal scents, oil, and a thrumming feeling under your cheek.  The air is stale, but breathable.  You feel fine, but kinda off at the same time.  In the background, you hear a distant rumble as of thunder.

Chris's Catastrophe

In reply to Tadeusz (msg # 2):

I roll over and sit up, shaking my head to clear my thoughts.
"Bill?" I look around for my friend, trying to take in my surroundings and comprehend what has happened to me. I also check my person and make sure that I'm not injured or otherwise impaired.

OOC: If you have any critique on my writing, please let me know. I haven't written PBP content for a while (the last game I was in ended and ceased to exist a year or so ago), and I'm a little rusty.

'Bill?' echoes oddly off the circular metal walls.  Their dark bronze color, and heavy rivets make the already dim room even dimmer.

The floor is metal too, and a bit oily to the touch, and all about you are boxes, and steamer trunks.

A ladder goes up the center of the room.

I deduce that Bill isn't anywhere close by and proceed to investigate the boxes and trunks. If I find nothing of interest, I head toward the ladder and begin climbing.

You rise to your feet faster than you expect, and go to your tip-toes, and end up falling over, catching yourself on a trunk.  This gives you a good view of the steamer trunk, and its stencilling.

Examining the boxes, you think  you could open them, but their is security tape you'd have to break which would make your opening things evident.

Messing with other people's property is generally not my style - although I am rather curious as to what a "Rat Needler" is-, so I choose to go ahead and climb up the ladder.

Good enough.  You climb up the metal ladder easily, despite the slight shaking that coincides with the deep thrumming you hear.  Up top is a vertical tube with a ladder on the opposite side up above it leading to another circular doorway above you.

The ladder seems to be arranged that if you fall, you will likely only fall one floor.

On one side there are two doors.  One that looks to have plenty of use, and the other very sturdy, and not much used.  These are metal doors with spinning handles that must be spun several times to open it seems.

On the other side is ten handles right next to each other, and no doors.

The handles on one side of the room pique my interest, but I choose to attempt to open the door showing the most sign of use.

You walk into a metal and ceramic two man bathroom.  Two toilets, a shower with a blocking wall, and a three man sink with mirror.  A cabinet holds toiletries in substantial quantity.

The door is quite wide, and one of the toilets is twice normal size.
