The Legend of Burn

Fifteen seconds earlier, in a darkened, blood-stained alleyway...

"Well, well, well," The big bald man cracked his knuckles over the body of the fallen man. Several dead and dying men were nearby, and the others were finally leaving the cover behind the trash cans, bins, barrels and everything  "You did your best, but nobody messes with us and lives. Say your prayers."
He raises his foot to stomp his target to death...

The present...
You arrive, Magnus, knocking over the man in front of you, and radiating light colors kaleidoscopically as you feel your connection to the universe becoming stronger. To an outsider, it would have looked rather absurd if it weren't for the fact that this outsider was also holding a very large and presently on fire sword, that was begging its master for fighting time.
You now have an eye to the future in regards to your new power source, and with that comes a vision of stone, wood and statues all weeping as a result of the stress your power will impose. You clearly see the wounded man in front of you, and you heard that conversation just as you arrived in the universe.
"What...in...the...hell..?" The bald man backs away from you, and scrambles to his feet, various colored light playing off of his face in a strobe.

OOC: Translation of paragraph #2, you will receive your backlash rolls for using your Akashic Magic, which has revealed its name to you as "Do," well in advance. You know exactly what the consequences for using it will be on the world around you, but it does not reveal the consequences of your use. (Right now, its telling you the brick walls will bleed. It does not tell you what will happen if you fight, talk, evade or whatever.)

I'm... Seeing the backlash I'll get. Interesting.

I Shift my grip into an two handed fighting stance with the burning blade pointed towards the bald man.

"Surrender now or perish."

The Legend of Burn

The bald man takes a step back, and then runs from you. Everyone else who was wounded follows suit.

You hear a pronounced curse of frustration from the prone figure behind you.

You also have time to take in your surroundings. This is apparently a rather impressive city. Your chi sense detects MASSIVE quantities of Black mana flowing through this city. It is intermingled with other types to be assured, but it is almost overpowering given that you rarely deal with this kind of power in this quantity.

On the plus side, apparently you can use holy powers again. On the down side, the world seems to be working against that idea. In fact, you have a feeling that high powered magic just won't work...unless you know the secret password, apparently.

I let the man run away.

I note the imbalance of black mana.

"Huh. Something is wrong with the geomancy of the city. Or it's corrupt as all get out."

I turn to the prone man.
"Are you ok? What's going on here? Why did that guy want to crush your skull? "

The Legend of Burn

The hooded figure pulls her hood back, a cloth covering the lower half of her face, with her hair in a bob.  Her voice is clipped and controlled. "He wanted to crush my skull because I was stopping him from doing it to someone else."

She stood up and brushed off the dirt and muck of the city off of her grey robe, with body armor somewhat concealed underneath, then tips the palm of her left hand up to reveal a small grey ball. "He was going to fail, because I have surprises for people like that. I needed to question him about his boss, whom I've been tracking for some time."

She shrugged, although her eyes remained focused on you, and rather suspiciously, despite her tone. "No matter. My trick wasn't pierced, merely delayed. For now...who are you, and what are you? Never saw a person do that without something unusual in his corner. That's some high powered sorcery, and that usually means demonic."
