And just as quickly, the flash ends, and it is very hard to breathe suddenly.

You see fragments of what was once a spacecraft falling around you. You are still feeling weightless, but the rush of air past your face tells you it is because of the terminal velocity free fall you are in. You feel the temperature rising, and you realize you, and the other versers you sense are going to burn up very shortly.

The First, thankfully, is not present.

Oh great. I have to survive and save the other versers from atmospheric reentry. Although it is odd that others showed up with me.

I'll grap all the versers with telekinesis and draw them to me.

Then I'll form my chi based conical heat shield to get started on air braking us.

What do I sense about the mana on the planet below?

I'm going to do more but I need info.

The Age of Fire

You cannot sense the mana lines from this range, although you get a vague sense of all types of magical power being in abundance.

The rest of the craft falls past you as the four of you descend. You notice that it is night, and that your landing zone appears to be some kind of ashen soil that makes your landing very smooth. Thirteen simply keeps repeating the word "Error" to himself once every five seconds. The other two are unconscious.

Amid the flaming wreckage and landscape around you, you catch a glimpse of a strange dark being with an oversized head picking through the remains of the ship. It is as large as you are, but it's strangely infantile body proportions and its hunched stance make it appear small. It has a chi signature that you lack a basis of comparison to, although traces of black self-interest flicker through it.

It pauses it's search to stare back at you, unaffected by the fire and heat. It's eyes flicker yellow, and its head turns sideways, like it is trying understand what you are.

I was going to cast another spell to fly down but then I realized that I could just float down with telekinesis.

I stare at the strange being with the weird chi. I guess I should try to communicate.

I'll connect to it's mind woth telepathy and send it a message.
Greetings. I am called Magnus. What is your name and what exactly are you?

I'll also feel out what the local mana is like.

The Age of Fire

While you can clearly sense your message got through, and was understood, it does not respond to your telepathy. It grabs a thin piece of metal and moves down to you, leaping down the wreckage.

It lands in front of you, and begins drawing an "X" into the ground, and it points your eyes to that. It carefully removes the center of that mark, leaving only four lines. One line it draws a sun at the end, the opposite shows a skull, to the left a stylized flame, and to the right it draws a dragon's head. In the center, it draws a spiral, and then points to it with one finger, than to itself, than to a cave in the side of the mountain.

Why it doesn't just use the telepathy eludes you.

The mana pulsates wildly. You sense burned out chi around you, strong but strange in its nature. Like the energies of Yomi Wan, but not quite as toxic. Just stale in the immediate area. You do sense a ley line of energy, and several of them get stronger in particular kinds of power that match the symbols being drawn: white, black, red, and oddly blue for the dragon. The only energy not in abundance in any of its directions is the power of the forest, and that seems to be going vaguely in the same direction as the dragon's head.

It shakes its head in what you are fairly certain is 'no,' and then it starts. This creature stands up ramrod straight, looking out at the horizon, and then it runs to a cavern entrance. Even watching it, it seems to disappear into the darkness, merging with the shadows.

Thirteen flickers to activation finally. "Sys-tems crit-ic-al. Core im-paired. Large ob-ject...on col-lis-ion course."

Thirteen picks up the prone Anthony and begins moving to the cavern entrance as well, leaving Lucian behind him.

You hear the sound of a distinctly animalistic roar behind you as you go into the cave. Behind you amidst the wreckage is a large red carnivorous reptile with a distinctive scaly crest around its head. Based on its fifty foot height from all fours, and its long neck, you recognize it as a dragon.

It smashes through the remains of your crashed vessel, looking for anything alive, based on its movements. It sniffs the air, and immediately looks to the cavern you are in. It lowers its head, sniffing your direction.

Interestingly enough, it did not come from the direction indicated by a dragon head by the odd creature. It came from the direction labeled by a sun.

OOC: Well. My Mental Instability: Reckless Bravery caused me to do this. And I always wanted to fight a dragon. Besides the Dragon will probably try to kill us all by breathing fire down the cave.

I'll set Lucien down and do some preparation for fighting a dragon.
I'll perform the Iron shirt kata that Mentat showed me and set it to resist extreme heat.
Then I'll use my Iron Skin Technique to harden my skin against the dragons claws.
Then I'll draw my zweihander. Whispering into it's primitive mind.
Wake up. It is time for battle. Drink your fill

Then I'll come out of the cave and head towards the dragon.
I'll analyze it chi signature as I go. To hopefully figure out how strong it's magic is and what flavor it will use.

Your weapon blazes to life, and you sense it nearly dragging you forward, eager to kill this creature. You feel invisible furious claws attempting to breach your flesh as you cast your physique altering magics, but they do nothing to you except momentarily force you to the ground before you leave the cave. Power flares out of the cavern, and the dragon looks curiously as you emerge with your blazing weapon.

The dragon leaps backwards away from you, keeping some distance on you as it lands, lowers its head, and begins sizing you up as a threat. You realize the two things you thought were yellow eyes are vestigial. It has one central yellow eye in the skull, and it is focused on you.

The Age of Fire

Your attack is poorly aimed due to the speed of approach, but it is caught off guard by your speed and you see and hear some of its scales fly off like broken bricks. A lingering trail of fire cracks a few more under the heat of your weapon's passing.

It delivers a vicious set of claw swipes, moving with physics defying speed to attempt to kill you, but your training allows you to evade the worst of it as you land just behind it, your fire running out as you land. You deflect one strike into the ground, the claws turning the soil upwards. You see the crackle of electricity spark in the dragon's maw, as its eye tracks you balefully.

As for what your chi sense notices about it, it is less a physical being and more like an elemental embodiment of stone and storm, like a large, red, lightning struck mountain.

After I deflect the claws into the soil, I'll slash though the joints connecting it's claws to it's hand.

I'll continue to slash at it and dodge it's physical attacks waiting for it to breath lighting at me.

I'll warp probability  so that the sword does a higher percentage of what is possible and force my body to hit harder and faster.

When it does, I'm going to take a page from Star Wars and deflect the lighting back at it with my sword.(I really need to come up with a name for it...)
The sword is made of Elemental Iron so magic doesn't affect it and it is practically indestructible.
I'll block the Lighting and then bend it back to the dragon

The Age of Fire

Your spell does something you (and the universe as a whole) didn't expect it to do, with the side effects of your magic making your spell stranger.

It fires a powerful spray of lightning at you, and your blade turns into a lightning rod for the breath it is emitting. At this point you feel your own breath being drawn into the ozone around you, and you see its own eye go wide as the lightning intensifies, the spell now pulling the lightning out of your opponent's maw.

Your weapon discharges the power back into the creature, blasting its scales apart, and scattering the remains of half of your ship in a flash of white light. Your vision is a blur, and your every breath is a gasp. Running is not possible right now, and standing is a challenge.

At least the dragon, scorched and damaged, with several dozen of its scales blown off, is also trying desperately to recover from what you just did. Your sword is glowing from heat, and you realize it did take quite a bit of stress from that. Another hit like that, and your weapon will shatter.

Naturally, it wants your tired meaty body to resume killing it.

You less "fly" up to the dragon, and more propel yourself. At this point, the sword itself is doing all the fighting.

And alas, you succeed, knocking yourself unconscious in the process. You plummet into the dragon at sword point and it ruptures with electricity as it does so, causing you to forget pretty much all concerns about being awake.

You awaken to the sensation of being carried. You get the vague impression of being carried by knights clad in silver armor, marching towards a fortress of some kind that your still blurry vision is trying to make out. You chi sense detects an uptick in stability, calm, order, and law trying to stand above a force that would undo all of that.

You stand from the stretcher, which they systemically and quickly fold up. They return to marching order, and head towards an impressive wooden gate, one that must be over one hundred feet tall. The silver knight in front blasts a horn, one that delivers a deep and sonorous tone.

The gates open, and the procession marches in. Anthony and Thirteen are present. Lucian you can sense, but he is not with this group. He is close, though.

Anthony speaks first, while staying close and providing a shoulder to lean on. "I'm glad you made it. I was pretty sure you were going to be killed by that thing when it exploded! I'm sure glad they were close." He gestures to the knights, which it occurs to you are each eight feet tall.

"They seem to be look-ing for things like that mon-ster. Re-fer: Dra-gon." Thirteen's movements somehow seem even less coordinated then before.

"Thirteen's having a rough time of it, though. His core is constantly on the fritz, he is missing a lot of data, and even moving is difficult for the big guy. He thinks there is some kind of radiation here that is making it so he doesn't function right. If so, it only seems to affect our machines."

They are very much on the side of order, but the feel they give is different is different from the intensity of the First or his Legion, and from the cold ruthlessness of Lucian. They give the impression of being actual agents of hope, fighting an annihilating darkness, a force you would be glad to see.

"Previous worlds?" Anthony is looking around. "Oh, you mean like the other planets you have visited."

He thinks. "Some worlds stop your...magic? I don't know, maybe its really a science you don't understand?"

"Ma-gic: in-con-sist-ent. Ru-mors of Hand Ag-ents pos-sess-ing, un-ver-if-ied."

"You save your energy, Thirteen." Anthony looks at you with concern. "Lucian tried to kill them when they approached you, but his weapon is apparently out of charges. I didn't know that could happen, and the look on his face would have been funny if it wasn't serious. I don't think these guys know what a gun is, but they know a weapon when it is being pointed at them. He nearly got himself killed evading them. Hope he's okay."

You are guided past the gates, and you see people of a large scale moving through this place alongside smaller people. Everything here is built with two scales; one for giants, and one for humans. Some of the beings here are twenty feet high, and dressed in full plate armor.

Cheers erupt around you as they celebrate the return of the knights. It is brief, but quite intense. They go quiet as a tall man, a full head higher than the knights around you makes his way though the crowd. He is dressed in long white robes, with a tall crown on his head. Only his beard seems at odds with his regal appearance, sticking out like an unruly tree.

"So, you are the one who challenged the dragon. And alone, no less? Is this true?" His voice booms with authority, but there is an undertone of concern for you.

Lord Gwyn continues speaking, although he seems a bit surprised at your question. "We are fighting dragons. When they are gone, the age of darkness they bring with them will end, and civilization can flourish. We who are Gods will rule, and man and giant will be safe under us."

"On all fronts are we tested, though. We hold the north, my knights and I. The south is held by the First of the Dead."
His face seems to wrinkle at a bad taste, and then he moves on. "To the west, we have the Witch of Izalith, and her seven daughters of Chaos. And to the east, we have our ace in the hole: Seath the Scaleless, who has betrayed his own kind for our cause."

He focuses his intense gaze on you. "You seem to have your own band, and an interest in fighting our foes. You may rest, restock, and then give me an informed decision as to where you wish to go. My eldest son has recently returned, and he will give you more information on our various fronts as you need it. Simply say, 'Praise the sun' and you will be guided to the correct direction. Make haste, though. He is as eager as I am to return to the battle."

His gaze stares into the distance, and you see lightning crackle in his hand. "They mass. I cannot tarry. Farewell." In a flash of red light, he and the guard around you vanish, leaving you alone with a dispersing crowd, Anthony, and a slightly malfunctioning Thirteen. Thirteen does not bother with restraint, and delivers hollow mechanical laughter, earning himself a baleful glare from the man guiding you.

You are led to another large man, a clean shaven individual who is cleaning the scales of a dragon. The two are quite alone, save for the knights in the area wearing a distinct sun symbol on their armor. You realize no knight except these ones has worn any insignia at all.

He looks to you, waves, and returns to his work. His red titanic companion snarls at you, smoke puffing from his nostrils. This one is a more traditional dragon, lacking a central eye like the other one had.

You seem to have recovered well, aside from a vague smell on your clothing. In fact, you don't have any injuries at all left. You sense the Fire here, and it is attuned to you.

One of the knights with the sun symbol walks to you. "If it is knowledge you desire, you would be seeking Seath the Scaleless, Father of Sorcery, traitor to his kind and, according to Lord Gwyn, an ally to our cause."

"I will not deceive you, travelers. Seath is not well regarded, but he knows much of the world. His desire to live drives him, and be warned, he cares for nothing else. Talk to those under him if possible. You would be going west."

You recall this as the direction of the dragon head.

Anthony waits a moment, and speaks. "Thanks. And, uh, not yet with questions. I am still getting my head around all this."

"hmmmm... Anthony, I wouldn't mention anything about being a verser while we are there. Let's head west then... After I check out their weapons."

Are we near a barracks? Then there should weapon's sized for the huge knights.
I'll pick one up and see how well I can use it.

Then I'll talk to one of the Knights.

"I'm seeking knowledge. I've heard that I need to go and talk to Seath the Scaleless's servants. Could you direct me to them in the west?"

The Age of Fire

Due to your training, you find an oversized sword more fitting to killing horses then humans, and you can use their ultraswords, although with some difficulty. They are slow, and extraordinarily heavy. It actually manages to almost as heavy as Mr. Bob Wilson, but the weight is distributed better, and thus it can be used by you with two hands, although it swings like a log.

It is unfortunately taller than you, so it also has to be carried on your back at an awkward angle. It is less 'sheathed' and more 'carried' in a top open harness on your back, almost a half-sheath.

The knight you talk to is the knight that showed you these weapons, and is as surprised as Anthony is that you can use this weapon. "Most can barely carry it, let alone use them. The Knights of Berenike would gladly have you in their ranks. Most of them are giants, save Black Iron Tarkus, a small titan among them and likely the mightiest of that mighty order."

"You know the direction. The signs you are looking for will be when the wastes turn into forest. Beware the crystal guardians that stalk those lands. They do not care about allegiances, and they are deadly powerful."

Anthony, once the shock wears off, looks at the knight. "Sounds pretty scary to guys who are strong, so we need to duck down, right?" He is looking at you hopefully.

I tell the Knight
"Thank you for the directions and the weapon."

I turn to Anthony.
"I guess we could try to sneak. But I'm not very good at that. And Thirteen isn't exactly stealthy. I assume you would want to bring him with us, Correct? I guess you guys will duck while I take care of anything we come across. Let's start heading west then... Maybe we should pick up a sword sized for you. I can start showing you how to use it to defend yourself.

Although I would recommend running if these crystal guardians manage to take me out."

Is there weapons sized for normal humans in the barracks? (for Anthony)
Is there a huge bow for the Giants? Can I use it?

What about armor sized for humans?

I'll start heading in the appropriate direction.

The Age of Fire

"From the sounds of things, I'd rather we not fight at all. We might not even have to if we are smart and duck down."

Thirteen simply follows slowly and jerkily behind. "No, I can-not stealth. Speak lit-tle, con-serve."

Strangely, you sense the Fire here is transferring to Thirteen, invigorating him as well. You also notice it is having a strange effect on his aura, making it somehow strange.

You can still sense Lucian, but wherever he is, he's doing a good job being unnoticed.

Anthony opts for something he thinks he can understand: a light crossbow, a knife, and a brace of bolts. They give him a treated leather suit, and teach him how to move in it without hindering himself on short notice.

There are giant sized bows, but those are far too large even for you, although they do have an odd heavy bow here, one that is meant to be planted into the ground, and that almost fires half-spears instead of arrows. They call it a dragon-slayer.

They are being very generous with their stores. When Anthony asks them about it, they state anyone going outside the walls is going to fight dragons, one way or another.

OOC: So, what kind of armor do you want?

I reply to Anthony and Thirteen
"Honestly I Think I would be able to take them. They are probably not as tough as a dragon.
They mentioned sorcery here. So I should be able to push harder than normal with my magic."

I played around in full-plate in one world. But didn't get to keep the armor and didn't get to use it much.

"May I try your heaviest armor that will fit me? I want to see how well I can move in it."

OOC: I would like the heaviest armor they have that will fit a human.

They offer you armor that is solid black, and looks like something a heavy horseman would wear. You CAN wear this, but between this and your sword, you feel a noticeable loss of mobility. Well, barring magic, anyways.

The knight is impressed you can even move, and he then asks if you aren't Iron Tarkus playing some kind of joke.

Are you two ready to go?

Oh, I've been meaning to ask one of you. How many people does it usually take to kill one Dragon?"

If they are I'll set out west with him.

More than we need to kill one, and never enough to avoid losses.

Anthony nods in the affirmative, and Thirteen gives a jerky thumbs up.

You leave, and you feel what you can only assume to be Lucian following behind you.

Not long after, you hear a yelling for aid behind you. It is not Lucian calling for help, nor any of the other two.

Behind a gathering of rocks, you notice one of those knights with the sun symbol face down, with Lucian pressing a knife to the base of his head.

"Hello, Magnus." Lucian is coldly speaking. "This man thinks to give an amulet to you."

He tosses a golden necklace with a sun symbol on it. Lucian speaks with a bit of sarcasm to his voice. "Notice a theme? Either way, I was wondering why he was sneaking behind us instead of getting your attention like an honorable knight."

"I told-" Lucian interrupts the speaking knight with a shift of his arm and three words.

"Silence, until addressed."

Anthony puts the crossbow away. "Hello to you too, Lucian."

The knight is clearly distressed, but speaks as well as he can. "Well, I was on my way to meet you at the gates of Anor Lando to give you that sign of our order, when I noticed you were moving like you noticed someone behind you. And given I was coming from another direction, it couldn't have been me, so I decided to tail behind, and see who it was."

Lucian smirks. "Congratulations. You have seen who it was. And I am not sure we should believe you and just kill you to reduce headcount and profile."

"Lucian!" Anthony realizes immediately how loud he just got to whom, and stammers. "I-I mean, uh, wouldn't killing him be a violation, of, uh, the law, uh, of, uh, uh..."

Lucian simply gives you a look, one that speaks of amused contempt.

Thirteen sparks, and takes one step forward, but halts. His right hand does rotate in place at the wrist.

The amulet seems to radiate light to your enhanced senses, and seems to be almost otherworldly in nature.

None the less. Lucian, I would like for you to spare this Knight. It would not be good to alienate potential allies by killing their servants in a misunderstanding. Go ahead and let him up, Lucian.

Anyway, Sir Knight, I sense magic from this amulet. What does it do?"

Lucian arcs an eyebrow at your words about his laws, but steps off the knight, his knife disappearing. His expression is unreadable otherwise. "As you wish."

The knight stands up, and brushing off his armor. "It summons one of our brothers, regardless of distance or time, we answer the call of our own. If you fight for brotherhood, you are one of us."

Anthony smiles. "Sounds handy. Thanks!"

Thirteen simply remains as he is, shaking occasionally.

I bow slightly to him and then put the amulet in my ... huh I don't have pockets when I am in this armor. I guess I'll let Anthony hold onto it.

Then I'll let him leave.

Anthony accepts it gratefully. "Alright, a magic talisman! I have no idea how to use this."

Lucian smirks as the knight goes back to Anor Lando, mission successful and pride wounded. His voice gives no indication of malice or anger. "No. You turned us into demons, like yourself. I have Lucian's form and memories, but I am no longer him. Same for the other two of you."

"Still, I will use his name, and not address myself in the third person unless relevant from here on." He puts his knife away. "My firearm does not work right here, so I have to resort to primitive CQC techniques. A crossbow honestly didn't occur to me, so congratulations on thinking of an alternative."

I did turn you two into versers. I wish I knew how I did That...
If you want to believe that Lucian, It seems needlessly complex to me.
If your body, mind and soul is the same then you are thee same person.

We count as beings from outside our current universe. But we are not Demons. I have fought Demons before. Several varieties in fact.

... If you get right down to it. Being a verser is having Freedom. More Freedom that most being will ever get.

Eh. Let's get going."

I'll continue walking west.

"Jerk." Thirteen rumbles behind.

Lucian smirks at Thirteen. "You should find it interesting he said 'you two.' Just stay away from me, rampant."

The ashen terrain gives way to a heavily overgrown forest with stone walls interspersed through the area. Thirteen tacitly accepts the apology due to limited function, Lucian doesn't get the value of personal freedom, and Anthony just rolls with whatever.

You hear something very loud stomping towards you. And very large and fast, to boot. You cannot see it yet, but you can see the brush it is destroying to get to you. Whatever it is, it is quadrupedal, about the size of a horse, and you cannot get a clear sense of its magical nature yet.

Lucian disappears from sight, Thirteen shakily drops into a fighting stance, and Anthony just backs towards Thirteen while clumsily winding up his crossbow.

I'll Smirk, draw the Over-sized Greatsword and stand my ground.

I'm standing in a guard position with my sword pointed like a spear towards where I hear the creature coming.

If the creature is not armored, I'll stand my ground and let it impale itself on the sword.

If it is armored, I'll sidestep it  at the last moment and then sweep it's leg's with the over-sized greatsword. Which should at least trip it do to the mass involved in the swing.
I think it is more likely to pulp the legs though it's armor.

As soon as I see the creature. I'll force my personal flow of time to accelerate three fold. So I experience 3 seconds for every one that actually passes. By drawing upon the red mana I felt before. (Da Red ones go Faster!)

The metallic monstrosity reveals itself as a charging boar. You attempt to quick cast your spell, but unfortunately the ley lines here are working against your hasty power. You barely step aside as it smashes you aside to rampage into the others. A very lucky, and unfortunate strike from the boar's horn pierces your underarm, and rams into your heart.

A rather unfortunate stroke of luck: the dragonslayer killed by an armored pig.

OOC: Yeah...the dice gods really did not like you. Verse out.
