Magehammer and the Mindlight Empire

quote:
As soon as you touch a person you drop out of time freeze.  They look startled at you.

"Where'd you come from, sir?" Says the guy who's arm you were touching.

"Oh, excuse me."

Walk away without another word.

quote:
You notice that the light seems to be back to normal.  Somehow it had changed when you were in time freeze.

Freeze time again. Inspect things. What's different about the light? Is it only touching people that I drop out of time freeze for? How much do I have to touch them? Just brush against somebody? Or do I have to actually make contact?

How long can I leave time frozen? Go home, take a nap. Is it still frozen when I wake up?

Two Posts

This is a link to an episode of The Twilight Zone 1980s. This is the effect I would want my time freeze to have. The video will say it's over an hour long but it's really only about 24 minutes. Check it out if you would. You might need to rewind it back to the beginning. I don't know what happened there.

You almost seem to notice a space of time between the shadow caused by your movement and the existence of the shadow.

Trying to move more than twenty five pounds total, not counting yourself, puts you out of time freeze.  Touching any living thing, even brushing them does it.   So, when you tag an insect, it knocks you out of time freeze.

By the time you're home, its unfrozen.  The limit seems to be about twenty minutes to thirty seconds.

OOC) Did you watch that Twilight Zone episode?

IC) I'll have to practice this time freeze some more. That's not gonna do for what I want to do with it.

Go to the local bank. See how they're set up. Could a person who has frozen time rob the bank and then walk out without being seen?

Yeah, go to the bank and just stand back and watch for a while. When I think things are right, freeze time, enter the vault and grab 20 pounds of money and walk away.

OOC: No.

You do your recon, and after about an hour and a half, a bank guard comes up to you.

"Why don't you move along...…..sir."  Its clear its not a suggestion.

You've been made as either a bad guy or a worrisome guy.  No botches, but you failed your recon roll twice.

Is the guard armed? If so, freeze time and very carefully take his weapon away and walk out. Try not to touch him.

If he's not armed, freeze time and go ahead with the robbery.

You struggle, and freeze time and very deftly remove his shot thrower pistol.  Its a good, oh, .45 to .53 or so calibre with four shots.  And you escape without issue.

This is gonna be fun!!!!

With time frozen, go around to the local outdoor restaurants. Pour drinks out on people's heads. What I'm imagining is the drink will stay suspended upside down in the glass until I unfreeze time, then fall on the person.

But go around doing things like that. See what happens.

Can I stretch out a bungee cord and leave it suspended in time when I let go? Get some bungee cords and stretch them out. Hook one end to something unmovable and the other end to someone's jacket collar, or their pants belt. Unfreeze time and watch what the cords do.

OOC) Can the referee think of any pranks that could be done with time frozen? If you want to add those, just for the fun of it.

It doesn't work at first try, and you have to try to create a new subset of stopped time ust for the cord apart from yourself...and it still doesn't work as you can't grasp how to do that.

Go back to my hotel. Get some sleep. Come out and try again.

Takes the gun I got from that security guard. Go out somewhere somewhat secluded and freeze time. Then fire the gun into the side of a hill. What I'm expecting is the bullet will freeze as soon as it leaves the barrel, only to continue on once I unfreeze time.

Is that what happens?

It succeeds, which offers a lot of interesting possibilities.  Having to hold two different times frozen is difficult, and you can tell that if the bullet went further from your gun it would be more difficult.  You're sweating as you hold these times in place...

Never thought of it as "Holding two times." Interesting.

Go to the park and hang out. Practice freezing time. Look for pranks I can play on people with that.

Eventually head to bed. What's happening in the world?

There is a lot of chatter about a presumed prankster or gang of pranksters.  Some think its botch effect, others (a few) think its some  sort of Tree attack, possibly by hallucinogens, others its a Trickster Archetype manifesting (although others think this is pseudo religious nonsense), and other think a young kid prodigy has just got some powers and is trying them out.

There is some more watchfulness around, but its still light.

The plays and gaming continues.

The gate to another world continues to be built.

A break in the circular outer line requires some farmers to be evacuated, and troops with psi fighters to go back and counter attack the incursion of trees about a hundredd miles away.

Too bad magic isn't working. Magehammer would totally get into torching some evil trees with Chaos magic. Oh well.

Go to the casino. Roulette. Put a substantial bet on number 13. When the wheel is spun, freeze time and move the ball on the wheel to number 13. At 35 to 1. (At least, on our world) that would net me a nice profit!!!

Just once.

I know I said "Just Once" but Magehammer is itching to do that again. So he will. Next roll, freeze time and move the ball again.

Judging that the security guard had a four barrel derringer as his sidearm, and Magehammer has an AK-47 in his backpack, he's not worried about the police.

So yeah, do that again.

Can't freeze time with him touching me. So, I'll step back away from them. Freeze time, and pull out that four barrel derringer that I got from the security guard. One shot to each of them, right between the eyes. If I'm right, the bullets will freeze in midair once they leave the barrel and won't move again until I unfreeze time. (At least, I hope that's what happens)

Wipe off the fingerprints and leave the gun on the ground. If I'm lucky, the authorities who examine this will conclude that it was a bank security guard who shot them.

So, do that, then take my money and leave. Go home. Prepare to pack up and go somewhere else.

You walk out of the casino and seconds later hear BLAMM.  Ten seconds later, the screams start.  There is some normal people doing normal things on the way home, but you see some scurrying people as well with tension in their faces.  And you pack up, and leave.

Wherever the road takes me. Just start walking. I think by now I'd be confident in my ability to live off the land so I'll just walk and sleep on the ground. Should have a sleeping bag somewhere.

But walk until I find another large city.

You walk out of the city, sleeping bag in tow, and it is easy enough to live off the ground.  Unfortunately as you wake on the first morning, fifteen miles out of the City, you realize there is only one City on the planet.  There are other smaller towns tho'.  30 of them, all placed roughly equidistant from each other.  They are about 1/20th the size of the City.

Head to one of the smaller towns.

You're stuck in a room with nothing but a mirror and a block of wood. How do you escape?

Look in the mirror, see what you saw. Take the saw and cut the block of wood in half. Two halves make a whole. Crawl through the hole.

Phi Town (they're named for Greek alphabet) is far smaller.  Its a trade spot to send out good from the large city, and take in food and other supplies from the farms.  It has some light industry and one amphitheatre with good, just not as good as the City players.

You also hear more about the Forrest.  And you see more power stone powered wagons.
