Sounds like a good time to practice my living off the land skills. (As you know, Magehammer I run as referee is an expert at wilderness survival.) So, I'm going to make a place for myself in the surrounding forest and head to that Phi Town only when necessary.

Or is it all trees that are bad? I'm currently under the impression that it's only some trees that are bad.

No, all trees are bad.  But there are fallow fields (not as many as they need), and you're able to make a camp in the chest high grasses.

Do that then. If possible, go to town and trade my casino winnings for gold.

But visit town as infrequently as possible. Live in the fields and grasses. Try to keep a low profile until things blow over with what I did back there.

You're able to trade the chips for gold without much difficulty.

The first week is very pleasant weather, and you find a small spring for water.
It rains two days on the next week.
On day three of the third week, you wake to find a snake sleeping next to you.  Its about five feet long.  Something about it being here is odd, but other than that, what do you do?

As I reach for my 9mm, I think to the snake "Fear not brother. I mean you no harm. Do not attack me."

Then blow its brains out and have it for breakfast.

What's the word around town? Has word of my triple murder reached here yet?

The psi calming works, but when you reach for your pistol it flips from your hand, and you knock it a few feet away trying to grab it.

News has come and gone.  Its bad, but people flipping out from developing new psi powers is not unknown, and the whole society is under significant stress.  Some people break.  Right now, you're waiting until it seems safe so no one will connect you with earlier events.

Where did the snake go? I'll beat it to death with my hammer if I have to.

It slithers off in a huff.  Like really dude, its chilly this morning.

Relieved, you pick up your gun, and by that time its gone.

You spot some footprints that don't resemble the shoes you see people round here where.  Next week, it rains, a lot.  You're suffering from a cold brought on by bad weather conditions for the next few days.

Going after my gun. I can scriff it. I'm carrying more than one gun so I'll get it back!!!!!

You see a small camp set up with uniform dark blue and black design.  Its all lightweight stuff.  You see a man stumble yawning out of a tent.  He's wearing a military uniform, and a crossbow slung across his back with a long knife strapped to his thigh.

That looks like a little more than I want to deal with. I'll just go back to my camp after I retrieve my piece. Go do my thing.

OOC) I said I pulled my 9mm yes? I think after a while, Magehammer would switch to revolvers and manual action weapons. Reason being, revolvers and manual action weapons are much less finicky about what ammo you feed them. Straight cased, manual action weapons (Revolvers, lever action, pump action, bolt action, single and double barrel weapons) would be much easier to find ammo for. Only the diameter of the case matters, not the length so much. So he's probably carrying a large-caliber revolver instead of a 9mm automatic.

You slip off to your camp....and despite the foot print you left in the soil near the camp, no one notices it.

For the next week, you rest and learn more in the low grasses. Three weeks later, you think you've managed to outwait the hue and cry, and it might be safe to go back.

Give it another week before I go back. But yeah, do that. I'm in the mood for a hot meal that isn't wild rabbit.

So go. In a week.

You walk in, and people don't seem to recognize you.  A visit to a clothing store and a shower seems in order, with that,  you feel more civilized.  And then its food in this small town, which is a cheese quiche, an apple tart, and a pulled meat that is brined in vinegar sandwhich with something that tastes like a black pepper spiced pickle relish.

People do mention some incidents, but its more of a pair of vanished hikers a few miles from your location, and a team of forest trimmers seventy miles further out that are generally thought to have been killed by inattention to the dangers of the forrest.  Your bit of homicidal attacks seems to have been a nine days wonder, and its history now.

Yeah, a hotel and a hot shower does sound good. And that food..... Sounds like just my kinda thing.



Casually mention here and there that I heard about a three person homicide over in the next town. See if anybody says anything.

Other than that, enjoy whatever amenities this town has to offer.

They remember it, but figure it was a side effect of a power botch, or that the person was caught.  Its already past the nine days wonder stage and fading into the 'oh wow, a year has past since that event' stage.

And you can see that this is a society under significant stress so they cope in part by focusing on the present.

You enjoy the only amphetheatre they have with some very good plays, and some good food, and then a week later, you hear a noise like a chainsaw outside your room in the street below.  And a scream.  And another chainsaw like noise.

Sounds like a good world to become a serial killer....... not that I would ever consider such a thing......



Letting go of the past..... That's something I've been trying to do all my life. These folks have it right.

You come down the stairs and to the front lobby.  Outside, you can see a couple, both dead, blood splashed on their chests.  The front door is ripped apart, and scattered across the lobby floor are a dozen tiny metal darts, all alike.  There is a stink of ozone in the air.

More noise, and screams outside.

Go outside. See what I see.

Prepare to fire flares.

You see two guys in those blue uniforms of the guy at the campsite.  Both are holding skeleton looking white ceramic rifles.  One fires it into a guy twitching on the road, with a sound like a chainsaw, and the twitching ends.

You hear other sounds of such through the city.

Put a flare into the backs of the two guys in blue uniforms. Hey, I don't know who the enemy is here!!!! I just saw those guys shoot an unarmed civilian.

I hope those flares hurt.

Stow the shotgun and pull out the AK-47. If my targets are bipedal humanoid, that's a better weapon for this.

Run around and try to see if I can figure out who the enemy is here.

The flare hits high on his shoulder, and bounces off.  He stumbles, but does not fall, and the blue uniform seems to be some sort of heat resistant cloth, although it clearly hurt him.

Your targets look human.

You open up with the AK on #1.  The cloth is some sort of armor, and it reduces the impact, but it is not up for stopping five bullets.  He goes down and stays down.

The other guy whips around, and takes a hasty shot. A dart punches into your left lower ribs below your heart.  He takes a mo to switch to burst fire...

The pain is not too bad.  It seems to be a very fast, very light dart with a spinning motion and the tail fins make that chainsaw noise as it goes thorugh the air.  It is half in you, and half in your jacket.  Evidently a needle like dart is pretty good for armor piercing.

Shoot that guy with the AK. Then pull out the dart and examine it more closely. Is it drugs? Tranquilizer? Do I feel different?

This might not be something I want to get into. I might just go back home.

How do I feel? Do I feel like I want to keep fighting or like I want to go home and sleep?
