I go with her.  After I get in the car, still steaming, I ask...

"What is going on?"

You get in the front passenger seat. She gestures to the back seat. She's got melee weapons. Magical weapons. Several Chaos swords, an Order hammer, a Chaos chain, an Order Chain, among other Order/Chaos weapons. She's got Elemental weapons, linked to each of the four elements. (You ran Avahur, right? I gave the elemental magic my own spin. He seemed to enjoy playing.) She's got psionic weapons and a few magic items you'd not recognize, and plenty of non-magical melee weapons.

"Take your pick."

She says. Then asks:

"You got any special weapons?"

You've got an Isis Iron broadsword. She will like this and will request that you make her one identical to this when the opportunity strikes.

"As far as what's going on....."

From what she's heard, this world's legal system was based on an honor system for the most part. If you are shot with a paintball gun, you are expected to surrender for five minutes. This is cop and criminal alike submit to this. But there were people who were usurping this. They were (gasp) NOT surrendering when shot!!!! How Unthinkable!!!! The world had no way to counter these people. No punishment could be brought against people who don't follow an honor system.

Then Slidehammer showed up and started enforcing these types of things personally. He has been known to immolate entire families. Mothers, fathers and children alike as an example for a crime which is committed. But he's a benevolent ruler with an iron fist. Are your children hurt? Do they suffer from birth defects? He will heal them. No charge to you, except for what your conscience offers. He frequently appears in public, handing out gold coins of extreme purity. He lets tourists take his photo. He's charismatic. He likes to make people happy.  He is, for the most part, a beloved, benevolent ruler. Just don't upset him or Disobey around him and everything will be fine.

The worship hour that you heard is the newest thing. That song seems to appeal to the masses and causes them to be happy. Some splinter groups swear it's subliminal messaging, but who knows about those crackpots?!?!?! People are encouraged to express their love for the ruler during that time.

If you really look long and hard at the laws, it's fairly obvious that the laws are worded such that he and he alone is immune from and exempt to all laws. Special exceptions are made for people of wealth and power. Prosecution can be avoided if restitution is made. Who but the king or a mage could make sufficient restitution for some crimes?

She tells you that he's seen her, but she looked like this and she's reasonably certain he didn't recognize her as the eight year old girl.

"So what do you want to do?"

She's been homeless and living in the SUV since she arrived. She brought it with her from her previous verse out.

"Mister Magehammer taught me how to drive right after you left us. First time I ever took something that heavy. Not sure if I want to keep it though."

I blow out a breath. Sigh.

"I'm going to need to find a way to check on teh subliminal stuff, but it sounds like he's not doing too badly.  Do y ou know if he is still possessed by the spirit of Chaos?"

And I ask her to take me to a place w here I can find a dangerous, but well paying job.  I need a house or at least an apartment.  She does too.

He televises it when he burns people. He sets an example of what not to mess with. People don't Disobey very often anymore...



Samantha says "I'm sure of it. Before he had to actually hold his hammer in his hands to do magic. Now he doesn't. If you watch him closely, he throws off little sparks and his footsteps glow."



Samantha pauses..... "There might be another option..... Not long after I got here, he tracked me down by scriff sense. That's how he met me. I don't think he recognized me. But he asked me if I wanted to stay with him in his palace. Just because I'm a fellow verser. Maybe he'll make you the same offer? Except you he'll recognize...."

The she says "Ditch diggers are always needed here. I'm sure you could do that. Mister Magehammer recommended to me that I should try doing the homeless thing sometimes. He said it can be a nice experience. But I've got enough money to buy a city block. I'm homeless by choice."

She's willing to pay for a place for the two of you. Or you can look for a job. Ditch diggers, you pretty much just walk up and grab a shovel and you're hired. Or you can wait for Slidehammer to show up. He almost certainly will once he realizes you are here.

I'll ditchdig, and start praying to make the land sacred. I ask God to put protections in the land, and I remind Him that the land is his yesterday, today, and tomorrow.  Nothing that Slidehammer does or does not will surprise Him.

I pray for angels to come and stand guard at all the four cardinal points with swords flaming.  I pray for strength and skill in ditchdigging, and committment to the job.  I pray....

By the time Sledgehammer shows up, I might well be in teh equivalent of a spiritual fortress.

OOC) Your plans were good. Unfortunately, the dice had other plans. SORRY!!!!!

So you're riding shotgun whilst Samantha drives. All at once, the SUV engine begins to cough and sputter. Looking out, you see what you think at first is steam rising from the engine. Samantha looks confused. "The engine isn't overheating...." She mutters.

But then Slidehammer lands on his feet in front of the car and you then realize it's Chaos leaving the engine. He's pulling the power out of it.

He's wearing a white trenchcoat and a backpack. His 45 auto is on his hip, and the M1 Garand that you bought for him is slung over his shoulder. Sparks are flying from his body and when he walks, his footsteps glow red momentarily.

He walks over to the passenger side of the SUV and says excitedly "Oh Hey Tadeueszzzzz!!! Good to see you again buddy!!!!"

He opens the car door and asks you to step out and talk to him. He seems sincere. Not trying to hurt you.

I keep praying.

As you are praying, you start to see a vision. A man, about 40 something. Long, brown graying hair and an unkempt graying beard. He's wearing black pajamas. He looks like a guy who might have spent a night or two inside your house before you became a verser. He's sitting at a laptop in his mother's kitchen. He says to you:



"I am the god of this world in which you currently reside. Who are you to tell me that you know my will? Who are you to say what is and what isn't my will? Do us both a favor. Stop trying to unseat the super verser before the appointed time. This prayer you speak will come to pass. But Not Until I Am Ready!!!!! Is that understood?"

Then the vision ends and Slidehammer is kind of laughing at you.

"Yeah maan, I remember you from that Verser World. That was a trip, wasn't it? So you wanna come to my palace or what dude?"

Crackling with electricity.

A second later, the ground shakes and the sky grows dark. A booming voice comes from everywhere and nowhere at once.

"WHO ARE YOU TO QUESTION WHAT MY WILL IS????????"

You're fairly certain this is from The One True God.

OOC) I mean, seriously. Who are you to say what the will of a god is? Don't you think God could stomp Sildehammer out of existence if He so choose to? Who are you to say you know what God's will is?

John, please verse me out, and never ever bring in Slidehammer, Samantha, or Magehammer into any of my games again in any shape or form.

Then unless you want to pick up my game, we're done playing. Honestly, this was the last world I could come up with to run you in at the moment. Scord really enjoyed this scenario. Of course, he didn't try to derail the story and defang the main antagonist before he even knew anything. And he certainly didn't try to say he knew God's will.

So if you want to run through this world without trying to take apart my super villain, then we can do so. If not, then we're done. Hey, look at it like this. I could just as easily have simply powerblocked or biased out the skill you were trying and that would be the end of it. I didn't feel like doing that.

So, you pick up my game, you play this game as I wrote it, or we're finished playing. Your Choice!!!!

As far as running me, I've deteriorated. I've got like 1@2 stamina, 1@3 agility, 1@3 strength. Seriously. I get winded walking around Wal-Mart. Unless the role involves sitting in a chair and shooting people, you've got the wrong guy.

And Oak. Since I know you're reading. No need for you to take action (yet). I'm sure you and your wife still argue on occasion. Doesn't mean you don't love each other, right? That's what Eric and I have here. We're just arguing. We still love each other. (Right Eric?) No need for Oak to act (yet).

Okay Eric, you want me to play with you? I would like my first world to be your version of Supercharacter Candy Store. That is, the player, one other n00b verser, and a supercharacter as powerful as Magehammer who is there to teach the player. The world is abandoned after a psionics botch. So, unlimited tech to scavenge and a superverser teacher. What the superverser teaches the player is of course up to you. Perhaps be good not to have him teach too much psionics or magic. Don't want the player catching up to him. Something like that.

I want to see if you can run that world any better than I can. I did okay running it for a couple of players.

What dost thou think?

I do not think a supercharacter is generally a good idea.  I see no reason to undertake a likely failure.

Super characters are a bad idea. In general.  So, no, as I said.  YOu don't get to push me around, John, and then blame it on me not accepting your bullying.  I gave you my offer, accept it or not.

Something that happened that I would like to address is that you said you wanted to get a job digging ditches and fortify the position. Slidehammer showed up immediately and ruined your plans. You don't really think a superverser ruling a world isn't going to immediately investigate any new verser senses that appear. That verser is a potential threat to his reign. Of course he's going to check it out immediately. So I gave you a GE roll. If you rolled a 3, you'd get to do your thing. You didn't roll a 3.

What would would you want to run me in as a starting player? I'd want to play my 43 year old weak self.

Excellent.  I'm not sure.  I don't want a highly magical world, or one with a huge overriding conflict.  I have an idea.  Its pretty weird, and offers a lot of different ways to go.
